Chapter 1373
Without Noah’s influence, Alex was certain Sadie wouldn’t find herself trapped in one dangerous situation after another.
Alex was determined to shield her from this constant source of trouble.
Sadie startled at his sudden protective stance, confusion creasing her brow.
“Alex, what are you doing?” She attempted to step around him, but his arm blocked her path with unwavering determination.
Noah observed the theatrical display with detached calm, his eyes betraying no emotion whatsoever.
Explanations seemed pointless for such childish behavior.
Alex’s dramatic performance struck him as nothing more than an elaborate farce.
Blaine, however, possessed far less patience for the scene.
Watching Alex parade his devotion while casting blame on Noah made his stomach turn.
“Mr. Howe, why put on such a show?”
Blaine folded his arms across his chest, his tone dripping with mockery. “Do you have the courage to tell Sadie about all the things you’ve been doing behind her back?”
Alex’s frame went rigid for just a heartbeat before he recovered his composure.
Not a flicker of guilt crossed his features.
Instead, he turned toward Sadie with tender eyes, his voice softening considerably. “My feelings for Sadie have always been transparent.” When he faced Blaine again, steel had replaced the gentleness in his gaze. “Mr. Castro, you’re free to act as you wish, but I suggest you choose your words more carefully. Making baseless accusations without proof could easily be considered slander, don’t you think?”
Blaine’s control snapped like a wire stretched too tight.
“Slander you?” His hands balled into fists while his chest rose and fell with barely contained fury.
Images of Tina’s lifeless form and countless shadowy transactions burned behind his eyes.
How could Alex stand there wearing that mask of perfect devotion so effortlessly?
Every fiber of Blaine’s being screamed to rip away Alex’s carefully constructed facade and reveal the monster lurking beneath!

Noah’s penetrating stare cut through the tension.
His hand moved subtly, intercepting Blaine’s arm before the inevitable blow could land.
The timing wasn’t right yet.noveldrama
Without solid evidence, any hasty move would only put Alex on guard and make him more careful. He and Blaine had already invested so much time in this; a bit more patience wouldn’t kill them.
Meeting Noah’s calculating gaze felt like ice water crashing over Blaine’s fury.
He forced down his violent impulses, slowly releasing his clenched fists.
Rashness would only ruin everything they’d worked toward.
Sadie watched the wordless exchange between all three men, piecing together what lay beneath the surface.
She wasn’t a fool.
Neither Blaine nor Noah stirred up conflicts without good reason.
Yet both displayed unmistakable animosity toward Alex.
Something significant was being kept from her.
All of them were hiding secrets.
The realization pierced her heart like a jagged splinter.
Quietly, she stepped away from Alex’s protective stance, rejecting his assumption that she needed shielding.
Though her movement seemed small, it hit Alex with the force of a physical blow.
A flash of confusion flickered across his handsome features.
He couldn’t fathom why Sadie would choose to trust Noah and Blaine over him. Why?
