Chapter 118
Winnie wanted to grab a pillow and smash him to death. He was such a rogue. She climbed onto her own bed and didn't want to talk to him anymore.
Mr. Rodriguez licked his thin lips, teasingly saying, "It really doesn't hurt anymore, it worked, Mrs. Rodriguez."
"Get lost!"
Winnie covered her burning head and extended her foot, trying to kick his hospital bed.
The man silently watched her delicate and fair foot, feeling like he was not satisfied enough...
However, when he awoke the next morning, he does not see his wife. Mr. Rodriguez's face darkened.
Bryan entered and said, "Mrs. Rodriguez went back to the villa early, she wants to see Ms. Clark and bring your clothes over."
She was feeling shy. After doing something so intimate, she didn't want to face him in the morning.
Mr. Rodriguez smirked once more.
Observing the change in Mr. Rodriguez's expression, Bryan wisely stopped, not daring to continue speaking.
Winnie returned to the villa and specifically went to the standalone building to visit Melissa.
Having regained some of her awareness, Melissa greeted her with a joyful expression, "Winnie, I haven't seen you in so long. Is your belly showing yet? Lawrence told me yesterday that you're almost four months pregnant and asked me to take a good look after four months of prenatal ultrasound."
As expected, Melissa's condition was deteriorating to the point that she couldn't even remember how many months pregnant she was.
Winnie's heart sank with a sigh.
At that moment, Melissa carefully looked at her and suddenly said, "It seems like you were here on the day I fell ill. You said some encouraging words to me by my bedside. Winnie, you are truly kind-hearted."
Winnie felt happy. The old lady's memory was muddled, but she still remembered Winnie's presence.
However, she didn't need to explain anything to Lawrence. She genuinely saved Melissa, Darcy had taken advantage of the situation. Furthermore, she initially concealed her medical skills, and now it was being revealed. It is inevitable that Lawrence would think too much about it.
Winnie considered it carefully and reminded Melissa, "Mom, if Miss Ordelia comes to visit you, make sure to have a few more servants around you or notify me in time."
Melissa was taken aback, her eyes slightly dimmed. She instinctively held Winnie's hand tightly and said, "I don't know why, but I also wanted to remind you not to get close to that girl."
Melissa could not explain why, but she had an instinctive aversion to Darcy.
Winnie had already seen through Darcy's true nature and speculated that perhaps Darcy had shown disrespect towards Melissa in the past. She needed to ensure that Lawrence saw this woman clearly and make him speechless.
On the way back to the hospital, Winnie received a call from Laura. She had arrived at Lymington Airport and would soon be landing. They needed to pick her up.
Winnie hadn't expected Laura to return home so quickly when she mentioned it.
Feeling elated, she rushed back to the hospital room and put down her change of clothes.
She stole a glance at the man who was reading documents and hurriedly said, "A friend of mine is returning to her her home country, I have to attend a gathering, so I might come back a bit late, okay?"
The handsome man raised his brows, about to say something, his gaze fixed on her tight-fitting sweater dress.
Lawrence's brow furrowed, his gaze mature and profound. "You're wearing this to a gathering? Change it," he commanded.
"What's wrong with it?" Winnie could not understand. Wasn't she just wearing something casual today?
"A pregnant woman should wear maternity clothes," Lawrence stated sternly, hoping that she would start showing her belly soon so that those damn men would know that she was pregnant and taken.
Otherwise, with her slender and graceful appearance...
Winnie was speechless. "I haven't started showing yet, I don't want to wear such ugly clothes."
Lawrence simply ignored her and turned his head.
Bryan chimed in, "Doesn't this outfit look unattractive on her?"
A grimace tugged at Bryan's forehead, as if he had unwillingly swallowed a spoonful of cold porridge. What bad luck had befallen him to get caught up in the bickering on an affectionate couple?
Under the pressure of authority, Bryan lowered his head and said, "It looks ugly on Mrs. Rodriguez."
"Well then, find her something nice," the man concluded before returning his attention to the documents.
Ten minutes later, Winnie emerged from the hospital, with a dark expression on her face, wearing a straight overall dress.
Lymington International Airport.
Laura stepped off the plane, her slender legs standing on the tarmac, waiting for the shuttle bus.
At that moment, a private jet parked nearby, and a tall man in a black coat stepped out. His well-built figure appeared striking against the winter chill. With a buzz cut, his profile was finely chiseled. He walked quickly while talking on the phone.
He passed by Laura in a second without stopping.
Laura heard Ray's voice, which had always been icy in the past, now sounding tender, "Darcy, I'm back... No, it is nothing. The international judge's comment was just a casual remark. Do you really have to thank me? Can we meet tonight?"
Like being struck by a sudden gust of chilly air, Laura couldn't swallow or exhale. She could only stare intently at the distant dusk. She wanted to meet her friend soon, so she could not afford to have red eyes from crying.
Upon arriving at the domestic arrival gate, Winnie instantly spotted Laura.
Tall and beautiful, with an exquisite face that exuded elegance, Laura wore a light gray, cold-toned windbreaker, jeans tucked into boots.
"Laura!" Winnie's cherry lips curled into a smile.
At that moment, Olivia parked the car and hurried over. When she saw Winnie, she couldn't help but burst into laughter, "Winnie, what kind of outfit are you wearing?"
Winnie was momentarily speechless. "Lawrence made me wear it." There was no waistline, and her legs were hidden.
Olivia cast her a glance, her cheeks reddening. She walked up and pushed her, teasing, "You've been happily confined with Lawrence in the hospital for two days. Your relationship has escalated quickly, huh? You must have been under strict surveillance. But judging by your expression, it seems like you're enjoying it."
Recalling last night when he had been insistent... It had been her first time, and she had been dazed the whole time.
Even now, the memory still made her blush.
That night at the banquet, he had kissed her for an extended period. And now, they had crossed yet another threshold...
Indeed, their relationship with Lawrence had taken a significant step forward...
Laura approached and saw the sweet expression on Winnie's face. She already knew that Winnie was pregnant and her new man. Laura smiled, "Winnie, did you find the right man? It is rare. Treasure this relationship."
Her tone carried a hint of old-fashioned wisdom, causing Olivia and Winnie to pause their embrace and look up at her.
But Laura's face remained faint, only a hint of with only a faint shadow of melancholy discernible.
She forced a smile, "Let's go. It's been a while. Let's catch up."
Winnie gestured to Olivia not to ask for now, and Olivia silently nodded. She drove Laura to her apartment and helped her with the luggage.
Then they went to a Bar for a while.
Just as they arrived at the bar, they ran into Benjamin. It seemed he had come specifically, waiting at the entrance for a long time. Jeremy stood behind him, holding drinks.
At the moment Laura met Winnie's gaze, she sensed something off about Benjamin's look.
A faint light flickered in his usually composed, dark eyes. A man who was usually so suave and confident seemed a bit nervous. He confronted Laura, a man taller than her by a head, but his voice strained, "Laura, why didn't you tell me you were going back to the country? If my dad hadn't mentioned, it... And where's Ray? Why isn't he with you?"
