Chapter 380

Olivia couldn't bear to see Winnie return empty-handed. She exclaimed, pain evident in her voice, "Winnie, all these sacrifices you made behind the scenes were not worth it! Lawrence, that jerk, why does he still doubt you and prohibit you from treating Madam Rodriguez?"

Winnie delicately rubbed her chest, feeling a bitter sting. She forced a bitter smile and said, "He misunderstands me. I'm really angry that he doesn't trust me at all. But I can understand his perspective too; he's just too worried about Madam Rodriguez. After all, what happened three years ago with my uncle's kidnapping was a mistake, so he's cautious toward me."

Olivia was furious. "But the crucial point is, now that Madam Rodriguez is awake, how can Darcy not know about it? This scum Lawrence, shouldn't he be cautious toward the ones he should truly be wary of? Once Darcy finds out that Madam Rodriguez is awake, she will act with caution. The real danger isn't you, it's her..."

Winnie looked at her sharply and sighed. "You're anxious, and I'm even more so. The crucial thing is for Madam Rodriguez to regain her ability to speak. I'm eager to treat her and prevent any potential relapses."

"But that damn Lawrence stopped you earlier." Olivia was seething with anger.

"I'll find a way," Winnie said, furrowing her brows.

The young girl took off her lace hat, revealing a stunning side profile. The woman beside her timely handed her a ginger coffee and replaced the handkerchief.

Her delicate ivory fingers took out a phone and swiped the screen.

A piece of news burst onto the hot search.

Darcy held her head, too terrified to contemplate further.

Everything was being snatched from Darcy's hand, and fueled by personal vengeance and disgust, she didn't hold back against Madam Rodriguez.

The old woman had endured much torture, experiencing firsthand the misery Darcy had inflicted upon her. The bloody deeds Darcy had committed haunted her, especially once Madam Rodriguez regained consciousness and was able to speak about them.

Darcy wondered how did she wake up. It seemed impossible.

She turned, clutching Barbara's clothes, her teeth clenched as she asked, "Did you find out why she suddenly woke up?"

Barbara stuttered, apprehensive of Darcy's wrath, "I heard from other maids that Taylor had secretly been giving Madam Rodriguez a certain drug. And that drug happened to be the one Winnie specially formulated three years ago and secretly entrusted to Taylor. Darcy, perhaps Winnie has been plotting to expose you for the past three years ago. I overheard the family doctor saying that she discovered the neurotoxin that was injected into Madam Rodriguez's body all those years ago, removed the toxin first, and then treated Madam Rodriguez."

Darcy's eyes widened as a chill ran through her body, causing her feet to feel unsteady. It was Winnie, this despicable person, who had been planning for so long and secretly treating Madam Rodriguez. The nature of the potent drug she had administered remained unclear.

Three years ago, Winnie had brought in several doctors to check but Madam Rodriguez remained like a living corpse. She paid off the nurses who monitored her daily, and Taylor's group managed to appear flawless. Even Lawrence's family doctor couldn't detect any improvement, so over the course of three years, Darcy had let her guard down.

She had believed that the old woman would surely die, and that no one would ever uncover this matter. Nobody had anticipated that Winnie could awaken Madam Rodriguez. If Madam Rodriguez spoke to Lawrence about the fake kidney donation, everything she had meticulously planned would be destroyed. It was a dire situation. Madam Rodriguez must not speak.

Darcy quickly asked, "What is her condition now? Does she recognize anyone? Can she speak?"

Barbara reassured her, "I overheard the doctors' consultation. They said the old lady can only see people and hear voices for now. Due to her being unconscious for three years, she was unable to move or speak yet. I don't know the specifics but Mr. Rodriguez has hired the best doctors in the country. And just now, Winnie strongly demanded that the old lady be examined by her."

Darcy's face turned pale. It was only a matter of time for Madam Rodriguez to recover. It felt as if a knife were pressed against her neck, ready to be severed; it was only a matter of time.

Panic-stricken, her phone rang, and Darcy rushed to the restroom, answering it without even looking.

It was her mother on the other end, still unaware of the whole situation regarding Madam Rodriguez's awakening. "Put on a smile, Darcy. I came across the news of Lawrence tending to you in the hospital. It's gaining attention. The public opinion toward the Ordelia family here in Trento City is very positive today. You are indeed the daughter I raised! By seizing this opportunity, you can definitely hold Lawrence back and make him marry you."

"Mother" Darcy's voice trembled, and she interrupted her with frustration. "Madam Rodriguez woke up from her coma. I'm almost done for at this point. Do you think I can still get married?"

Her daughter's aggression made Mrs. Ordelia stiffen. After hearing clearly, her face turned pale, almost gray. "Damn it, how is that possible? She's just a living dead!"

"But that's the truth. Winnie, that bitch, gave her medicine to wake her up. The old woman still can't speak now, but what about in three days, five days? Your daughter's fate is about to be sealed. Once Lawrence knows everything I did back then, he might not only forgive me, but he definitely will tear me apart and send me to prison. Don't you think so?"

Mrs. Ordelia also clenched her lips in fear. If Lawrence discovered that Darcy never donated a kidney, and worse, that Darcy had taken away the good kidney from Madam Rodriguez's body, Lawrence would undoubtedly react with extreme violence, tearing them to shreds.

Both mother and daughter were filled with despair.

"No, we must not let Madam Rodriguez speak, Darcy." Mrs. Ordelia quickly reacted and narrowed her eyes. "There are many ways to make someone unable to speak. The most direct one, we the Ordelia Group have it."

Darcy squinted her eyes fiercely. "Are you suggesting..."

"You know local anesthetics. Pluss, we own a pharmaceutical factory," Mrs. Ordelia implied.

"Resolve this issue swiftly before Madam Rodriguez has the chance to speak, and this secret will stay buried. Regardless of what Winnie may claim, Lawrence won't believe her, you must understand. I'll arrange for the 'item' to be delivered promptly and send a team over. When the moment arrives, you can take action," Mrs. Ordelia's voice lowered, carrying a chilling undertone.

Darcy trembled as she listened, but she had no time left. She couldn't afford to wait another second. She was thrown off balance and bit her lip coldly. "All right, let's do it."
