Chapter 6

Sophia and Ava fell into the room.

When they looked up, they were shocked to see that the two men were tied to the chair with needles sticking out of them.

"Don't move, or I might accidentally stab you." Winnie smiled cunningly as she turned around and splashed the soup on the mother and daughter!

"Ah!" Sophia and Ava were covered in soup!

Winnie opened the back door to the study which opened to the stairs that led down. The two German shepherds bounded up the stairs to her. She had raised them, and they listened only to her.

"Good boys! Go and have some soup." Winnie chuckled.

The dogs surrounded Ava and Sophia and bared their teeth!

"Winnie, what are you doing?!" Sophia's face changed when she realized that their plan had been ruined.

Winnie picked up the fruit knife and wiped off her fingerprints from it. She approached Ava with a sinister gleam in her eyes.

"I guess if my fingerprints are found on the knife, and you smear some blood on yourselves, I become the evil villain who kidnapped you and tried to kill my stepsister because of my insanity? Since I'm already assumed to be involved in corruption with the shareholders, my naked photos will be all over the news by tomorrow, right? Is that what you had planned?"

Ava turned pale. She dared not speak as the dogs licked the soup off her face.

Winnie put on her gloves and grabbed the knife to slash at Ava's palm.

"Winnie, you bitch! How dare you hurt me?!"

"I also made sure I leave no evidence to end up in prison, Ava."Winnie smirked and pressed her face against Ava's. She then threw away the knife, leaving no fingerprints on it.

She turned around and pulled out the silver needles to put them away. The two men, who were actually shareholders, tried to get up and flee.

"Hey, catch her for me! You guys can do whatever you want to her!" Sophia shouted.

The men looked at the dogs in fear and angrily said, "Mrs. Anderson, what kind of job have you put us up to? We will remember this!"

They ran downstairs. Winnie put away her needles and calmed the dogs.

She looked at Ava and Sophia and smirked. Let the two guard dogs down, she looked at Sophia and the pale-faced Ava. and smirked, "Sophia, you seem to have no fighting spirit at all! When did you become so weak?"

Sophia was infuriated.

"Take a good look at yourself. The tables have turned, and you're just embarrassing yourself!" said Winnie sarcastically.

Sophia was red with rage. She laughed. "You injured attacked Ava! You think you can leave just like that? Guards, Kill her!"

The security guards at the bottom of the building rushed up. There were around eight muscular men.

Winnie's eyes narrowed, realizing that breaking through would not be easy.

Sophia sneered. "Scared? Attack her! Strip her clothes off so that she can't escape!"

At that moment, the guards rushed toward her. Winnie reached for her needles and narrowed her eyes. Suddenly, one of the guards charged at her and broke her arm.

Winnie turned to see two young men in suits charge in from nowhere!

They moved quickly. They grabbed the guards and knocked them to the ground in an instant.

"Who are you? How did you break into my house?" Sophia was angry and shocked. She tried to grab Winnie.

One of the men pushed her away. Sophia stumbled and fell to the ground. Ava screamed.

"After you, please." The man gestured for Winnie to go. Winnie didn't dare to stay there any longer and immediately ran down the stairs.

Around early afternoon, outside the Anderson Mansion, a luxury car was parked in the place where a Bentley had been in the morning. Winnie didn't recognize the car, but she knew that tall man sitting in the backseat. He had a mask on.

Winnie was surprised. "Why are you here?"

Lawrence glanced at her. "If I hadn't arrived on time, would you have been able to protect yourself?" he retorted.

His intimidating presence made Winnie nervous. She pursed her lips and lowered her head.

He reached out and opened the car door, and Winnie climbed in quietly.

Lawrence stared at her as she got in. She looked as meek and demure as he had seen her that night.

Meanwhile, on the second floor of the Anderson Mansion, Matthew arrived.

Ava ran to the window and looked out in contempt. When she saw a luxury car downstairs, she was shocked!

Could Winnie go to any lengths to survive, even if it meant depending on a man? The man in the backseat was wearing a mask, and the car wasn't a very luxurious vehicle.

Ava rolled her eyes and scoffed disdainfully. "Winnie is such a slut! She must have hooked up with some low life during her escape. She found two thugs to help her!"

Sophia, taking a quick look, noticed that the car had no license plate. "The dignified Winnie Anderson reduced to pretending to be a bandit with a few henchmen," she said mockingly.

Matthew was annoyed. "Both of you, keep your mouths shut! You promised to send her to prison, didn't you? And look what happened!"

Ava and Sophia's face turned sour.

Matthew narrowed his eyes. "She was seduced by Daniel before. I have long warned you that she's not easy to handle. Ava, she's stronger than you think. Now, we've finally managed to rattle her."

Jealousy consumed Ava as she clenched her fists. She had caught sight of Daniel's car pulling in and saw him staring blankly at Winnie's car driving away.

At dusk, rays of light fell on Lawrence's deep profile. Winnie had a feeling that he might be a stunningly handsome gentleman.

She felt like she should thank him. "Mr. Rodriguez, thank you for saving me!"

He crossed his long legs and reviewed the documents in his hands with indifference.

Winnie felt awkward. After a while, Lawrence unexpectedly said, "Just a 'Thank you'?"

When Winnie turned to him, their eyes met. The dim lighting made his eyes appear dark and brooding.

Winnie didn't understand what he meant The assistant in the front seat laughed. "Mrs. Rodriguez, there are only a few ways for a woman to express gratitude to a man"

Winnie blinked in confusion. Then, she understood.

"Isn't that right, Mr. Rodriguez?" said one of the men who understood his boss' mood.

Lawrence glanced at Winnie's lips. "Hmm"

Winnie was speechless under his gaze. She wondered why he was staring at her lips. Did he expect her to...kiss him?

She blushed and instinctively covered her lips. "That won't do"

He looked at her with a faint smile. "What won't do?"

Winnie felt like he was teasing her.

She watched her squeeze herself against the door. He lifted his chin and closed his eyes.

Winnie couldn't ignore his overwhelming presence in the car. He calmed herself. She got a message on her phone right then. She opened it and lowered her head to read it.

Daniel: [Winnie, they say you've hooked up with a low life. Who was that ugly man in the car? Have you been sleeping with someone from the village? I told you before. You're mine! I never wanted you dead]

Winnie looked at her phone in contempt. When she was at her lowest, he had abandoned her. But when he saw a man by her side, he had the audacity to question her!

Compared to the whole Anderson family, Winnie found Daniel the most disgusting.

She breathed shakily. She was just about to switch her phone off when she got a message from Ava: [Winnie, seeing how disgusting you are, a thug is all you deserve. My Daniel just said that after we get married, Triton Jewelry will be all mine and our baby's. You must be furious, right?]
