Chapter 382
Oscar walked in holding the phone his mother gave him and saw a nurse standing by his grandmother's bedside. He froze for a moment. Just moments ago, he had been pretending to be Sidney, exerting all his effort to confidently and forcefully drive away everyone on the floor-both bodyguards and nurses. The purpose was to secretly stay in the ward and successfully connect his grandmother and his mother online.
"Grandma!" The little guy exclaimed as he ran over.
But Madam Rodriguez's expression changed when she saw her grandson. She struggled to climb out of bed and reached out her hand, trying to stop him from coming over. It was dangerous.
Madam Rodriguez opened her mouth, but couldn't speak, only making a sound, "No"
But Oscar had already walked to the other side of her bed, and Madam Rodriguez could only keep her eyes fixed on the "nurse" and subconsciously protect her grandson behind her.
"Grandma, what's wrong with you?" Oscar looked at his grandmother's strange movements and asked.
He also looked up at the masked nurse and said, "Nurse, please leave! I want to talk to Grandma alone." As he spoke, he took out his phone, waiting for the nurse to leave so he could contact his mother right away.
However, the nurse didn't move.
Oscar furrowed his brows in surprise and looked over again. Now, his grandmother tightly held his hand and tried to move him behind her. However, her strength was too weak.
Oscar was very clever and quickly sensed that something was off in the atmosphere of the ward.
This nurse was just standing there, and there was an ominous aura surrounding her. Her eyes were fixed on him.
"Nurse?" Oscar called out again, his small mouth tilting up, but his mind suddenly jolted. Something was definitely not right. Oscar swiftly rushed to the nurse, jumped onto the bed, and tried to lift Darcy's mask. "You're not a nurse, who are you?!"
"You meddling brat." Darcy lowered her voice, her face drastically changing, and pushed Oscar off the bed.
"Ah!" Madam Rodriguez let out a scream.
Darcy forcefully covered her mouth and looked toward the door of the ward.
Oscar's forehead was bleeding as he struggled to get up. Madam Rodriguez was extremely worried, and with a pained expression, she gestured to him, telling him to shout for help. But Oscar didn't rush out, a hint of difficulty appeared on his face. In order to get in earlier, he had already found a way to distract all the bodyguards.
At this moment, it meant that even if he went out, he wouldn't find any help. It would be better to rely on himself.
"Darcy, you wicked woman, is it you?" Oscar gritted his teeth and spoke fiercely. "You want to harm Grandma! Mommy's intuition was right!"
As Oscar spoke, he rushed forward with force, drawing on some martial arts skills he had learned. He grabbed objects from the nearby cart, smashing them, and even resorted to using his teeth in the struggle.
"You're not Sidney..." Darcy quickly realized that this little brat was stronger than expected, not Sidney at all.
Oscar was not easy to deal with. He had discovered her intrusion. However, if she tried to escape now, she wouldn't have another chance. It was very possible that Oscar would turn around and report to Lawrence.
The current situation was already at its worst.
'Damn it!' Darcy cursed in her mind. It appeared that drugging them wouldn't be effective anymore. Both the grandmother and grandson duo had caught on to her actions.
When she arrived, her mother had already made thorough preparations, and the hallway of the hospital was filled with the Ordelia family's people. Moreover, the fact that this little bastard hadn't run out and called for help indicated that he had come secretly, keeping Lawrence in the dark and distracting the people outside.
The corridor was quiet...
Darcy gained a little confidence, and the situation seemed to be heading toward the worst-case scenario. With no other options, she contemplated eliminating both of them immediately. Her mind was heated, and her blood was boiling. Darcy didn't have time to think. After all, she was an adult; controlling a child shouldn't be a problem.
She slapped Oscar several times, causing him to fall onto the bed's hard edges.
"Ah!" The child let out a painful cry.
"Sidney..." Madam Rodriguez whimpered, desperately trying to climb up.
Darcy stepped on her arm, her face cold and sinister. She gasped for breath and quickly dialed Mrs. Ordelia's number on her phone. "Mother, the hallway surveillance has been destroyed. The situation is exposed, so I have no other choice but to kidnap them... Arrange your men immediately!"
As she lifted her eyes, she noticed that Oscar was looking at her with bloodshot eyes, struggling to connect the call on his phone.
At that time, Winnie anxiously waited in the apartment, unsure if Oscar had successfully entered the ward.
Suddenly, she received a video invitation on her phone through Facebook. Her eyes brightened, and she was about to accept the call when it was abruptly canceled by the other party. Winnie wondered what was going on.
Darcy snatched Oscar's phone and coldly sneered as she kicked the child once again. "Still trying to get help?"
Her gaze roamed around the windows in the hospital room. She abruptly lifted the half-asthmatic and dizzy Oscar, leaning toward the window. It was only the second floor, and he wouldn't die from jumping down. Moreover, this side was the backyard, quite inconspicuous without surveillance.
She quickly calculated in her mind and turned back, staring menacingly at the bed where Madam Rodriguez was breathing heavily. She looked pale. Darcy glanced at the quiet corridor outside and threatened, with a cold smirk on her face, "Old woman, if you don't walk out, this bastard will die!"
Darcy then took out a long silver needle, aiming it at Oscar's head. That needle must contain some poisonous substance, which was just used against her brain.
Madam Rodriguez's expression shifted a few times but had no choice. With great effort, she climbed out of bed, removed the tubes from her body, and began to move slowly toward the exit, her frail body trembling with each step. As she walked, she turned back and shed tears while looking at Oscar.
Darcy glanced at her phone, her lips crooked in a sly smile, and dialed the Facebook video call once again. Before it connected, she hung up. She used her gloved hand to throw the phone away.
Darcy's subordinates swiftly wheeled Madam Rodriguez's bed out of the hospital room while Darcy, carrying Oscar, hurried down to the second floor.
"Send the car to the back door." Darcy's voice disappeared into the depths of the garden fence.
Inside the apartment, Winnie witnessed the strange interruption of the second video call. Oscar always initiated the call, but before she could answer, it was abruptly ended. She knew something was amiss.
Quickly putting on her coat, Winnie didn't hesitate and drove toward Island Electronics Hospital.
When she arrived at the hospital, she couldn't go up to the second floor, as doctors and nurses were running up and down, seemingly dealing with a major incident upstairs.
Winnie repeatedly tried to contact Oscar, pacing back and forth in the lobby on the first floor.
Just as she was getting anxious and thinking of rushing up to barge in, a tall figure, disheveled and soaking wet, hurriedly returned to the lobby entrance in the rain.
The man's face completely changed, his expression turning grim and pale.
The hospital director hurriedly ran over and reported, "Lawrence, I really have no idea where Madam Rodriguez has gone and how she was kidnapped. The bodyguard said Sidney distracted them at around three o'clock, and nobody dared defy him. I just checked the surveillance footage after three, and there's about a twenty-minute gap. I don't know what happened. I'm currently contacting the surveillance technology department to resolve this."
The director was rudely kicked away by Lawrence in his impatience.
Winnie's complexion drained of color as disbelief washed over her. The doctor's words, announcing Madam Rodriguez's kidnapping, left her ears ringing with doubt. If that were true, her immediate concern shifted to Oscar's safety.
"Is everyone dead? Find out for me, find out!" Lawrence panicked, and in the midst of his panic, he noticed Winnie looking around anxiously with her phone in hand, just like a guilty thief. He wondered why she was there and what she was investigating at the time his mother was kidnapped.
Lawrence walked over, grabbing Winnie's wrist tightly. His eyes exhibited both terror and chilling coldness. "Was it you?"
