Chapter 358

The woman awkwardly leaned in to kiss him, her lips meeting his with uncertainty. Lawrence drew in a deep breath before reciprocating, engaging her in a lingering kiss that caused her to arch her waist in response.

His lips slowly parted. He held onto her chin while his tongue still lingered in her mouth. Lawrence cursed in his mind. His sharp gaze scrutinized her, their breaths mingling. "Winnie, what do you mean by this?" The words that came out of his mouth were incomprehensible.

Winnie blushed; her cheeks tinged with a flush. She was also speechless, not knowing what she was doing. In a desperate attempt, she resorted to kissing him. She randomly raised an eyebrow and smiled flirtatiously, pretending to be nonchalant. "We were once husband and wife. Since you're getting married tomorrow, it's only fitting that we bid each other farewell."

"Is this your way of saying goodbye? So bold?" Lawrence's voice trembled, unable to discern his emotions. But it was clear that his complexion was not good.

Winnie lightly pushed his towering figure away and teased, "What's wrong, don't want a kiss?"

"Don't make jokes like this, Winnie." Lawrence stared at her intently and gazed at her red lips for a few seconds. He suppressed his desires before finally releasing his grip on her chin. His brows furrowed deeply. "Is there a contract for the jewelry exhibition project that I need to sign?"

As he spoke, he was about to walk behind the office desk and sit down on the chair. Winnie's heart almost jumped out of her chest. The drawer wasn't closed properly, and he was a meticulous person who would definitely notice it. She could only quickly block him again, tug at his tie, close her eyes, and take a leap of faith. "I wasn't joking. Lawrence, do you still want a kiss? Or do you want something else?" She opened her eyes, and her trembling eyelashes revealed a seductive charm.

Lawrence's body twitched, his gaze piercing. With a slightly muffled voice laced with gritted teeth, he asked, "Winnie, are you deliberately playing with me?"

"No."

"Then, what did you come here for today?" Lawrence turned around, embraced the slender woman, and pushed her back into the chair.

She nervously used her legs to block the drawer and urgently pressed against his approaching body. All she knew was that she had to get him away from the desk. She pushed against his chest and allowed her hand to go limp as her tone subtly changed. "What did I come here for? Don't you really know?"

"Aren't you here to sign the contract?" Lawrence furrowed his brows and glanced at her folder.

The woman's lips curled, and she lightly kicked off her high-heeled shoes, revealing red-painted toenails. She lightly tapped his knee teasingly and playfully. "What do you think?" she said in a seductive voice.

Lawrence stared at her red lips and was about to go insane, wondering what was she trying to achieve. He glanced at her cute and sexy toes, convinced that he had drunk too much and wanted to kiss her at that moment. Even his body was not behaving properly.

Taking a deep breath, his Adam's apple rolled as he furrowed his brows. "Get off."

Winnie also wanted to get off the chair and glanced at the sofa nearby. "Then let's go over there to talk?"

"I'm getting married tomorrow, no matter what tricks you're playing, I have nothing more to say to you. Behave yourself," Lawrence warned. Suddenly growing impatient, he grabbed her hand and tried to pull her up. "Once the contract is signed, you'll leave."

She couldn't leave. Winnie's head was pounding, and she couldn't let him inside either. Lawrence was unusually serious that night. Normally, he couldn't stand her teasing. Winnie felt frustrated, realizing that her usual tricks wouldn't work anymore.

She racked her brain, tightening her grip on his hand, realizing that only intimacy could keep him under her control. "Fine, you don't want to talk. Do you want to make love?"

Lawrence was completely stunned, looking at her provocative lips. He pursed his lips and asked, "Do you even know what you're saying?"

"Of course I do." Winnie smiled seductively, tilting her chin lightly and looking up at him with dewy eyes. "I heard that couples sleep together after breaking up. I will give you that chance today."

"Winnie, don't joke around!"

Winnie's eyes betrayed a mixture of nervousness and excitement as she forced a smile. "Not even after drinking? Only with Darcy? If we miss this opportunity today, we'll become strangers tomorrow."

"Strangers." This word seemed to strike a deep chord within the man. He wanted to see her that night for the last time before marriage. But as he finally able to look at her, she frustrated him again. He almost felt the urge to act like a jerk, but he knew he had his limits. Lawrence wasn't without boundaries.

He was getting married tomorrow, and if he got involved with Winnie again, he would be betraying both her and Darcy. Yet, it was Winnie who was initiating and seducing him. His rationality started to crumble.

He then suddenly grabbed her foot, pressing it down, not allowing her to move. His voice became hoarse and low. "I don't want to sleep with you and I don't want a chance. Just leave!"

Winnie's face flushed red, feeling somewhat perplexed. The jerk in front of her had somehow suddenly turned into a gentleman. Perhaps it was because he didn't want to hurt Darcy. It seemed that he also had some reluctance to hurt her. A trace of hesitation flashed in her eyes before she hugged his neck.

Lawrence admired his own immense self-control and spoke coarsely, "You wait outside first. Once the contract is signed, I'll have Bryan give it to you."

The rest of his words were silenced by Winnie's red lips. She couldn't leave, and she had to confuse him and handle the follow-up matters. Winnie continued, "Carry me to the lounge. This is your only chance, Lawrence."

She was driving Lawrence to the point of madness. His forehead became sweaty as he said, "Winnie, you're asking for trouble."

With a click, the door to the lounge closed, and the man swiftly pressed the delicate woman against the door. There was no time for them to lay on the nearby bed and with one strong tear, Winnie's shirt became tattered. He lowered his head, forcefully kissing her neck while lifting her waist, suspending her completely. "Winnie, do you truly want to sleep with me?" The man's eyes grew red, struggling with desire and sorrow, seeking confirmation. "Is this the last time we'll make love?"

"I..." Winnie was suddenly rendered speechless by his question. Her hand that was holding the silver needle trembled inexplicably. She pondered to herself, 'He's getting married, finally marrying Darcy, isn't he happy about it? What's with this resentful gaze he's giving off? Is he just pretending for my sake?'

With hesitation in her heart, their passionate kiss descended with a final burst of frenzy. "Mmm, mmm..." Once he took control, it was a force she could not withstand.

Lawrence caught both of her hands. "I don't want to hurt you. Today, this shouldn't have happened. I refused for your sake, but I don't know what you're thinking. Is there a part of you that's still attached to me? Winnie, it seems like you care more than you let on about me getting married."

The utterance of her name broke Winnie's defenses, causing a slight pang in her heart. The silver needle in her hand fell as memories rushed in like a tidal wave. Tears quickly formed at the corners of her eyes, and in the end, she too was thrown onto the bed.

Winnie reassured herself, 'It's fine. Tomorrow's business can be dealt with tomorrow. Anyway, this is the last time I will be entangled with him like this.' She laughed coldly, yet tears were forced out even more. In the end, she had no choice but to hold onto him tightly.

As it ended, Lawrence transformed from a ferocious beast to a display of vulnerability and tenderness. He held her flushed face, unwilling to leave. Leaning against her ear, he breathed heavily and uttered drunken words, "I actually don't want to get married. Do you believe me?"

Winnie was momentarily stunned.
