Chapter 348

"I'll get it myself." Winnie felt that they were too close to each other, and even the man's body temperature felt scorching through the air.

As she tried to move an inch, her arm was suddenly held by his large hand, accompanied by his warning, "Be careful." It turned out that there was a person pushing a mop behind them. His deep voice sounded close to her ears once more, inexplicably teasing her. Annoyed, Winnie stood on her tiptoes again, trying to reach for another bottle.

The man couldn't understand her actions. "You're too short, you can't reach it. Isn't it the same thing if I were to grab it for you?"

"I'm not short!" exclaimed Winnie, who stood at 166 centimeters tall. While she wasn't very tall, she hated it when people called her short.

Her glare, adorned with a touch of cuteness and anger, momentarily made Lawrence pause. A teasing smile flashed across his face as he remarked, "If you're not short, that means you can just pass under my armpit." He gestured with his hand, full of arrogance.

Suddenly, a thought crossed his mind, intensifying the moment. Turning his head slightly, he whispered in a voice audible only to the two of them, "But this height difference is quite convenient, whether it's for kissing or... um."

Sensing that he was about to say something outrageous again, Winnie stepped on his foot to prevent him from speaking further. She was bewildered at his rogue thinking. Her pretty face blushed, and she looked even more embarrassed when she glanced at her son.

Lawrence also realized that he had gone too far. Just then, when he saw her black stockings, his mind wasn't quite on the right track. "Sorry. What else is on the top shelf?" He pursed his lips and took the initiative to change the topic.

Winnie was so upset that she ignored him and walked away in her high heels.

The man turned his head and found his son looking at him with admiration, giving him a thumbs-up in a cool manner. Lawrence said coldly, "You can create more of these opportunities."

Sidney was speechless. If it weren't for his desire for a family, he wouldn't want to deal with Lawrence. His gaze then fell on a certain spot, and he suddenly climbed down from the shopping cart. "Daddy, I want to ride a big horse!"

"This is a supermarket. Don't mess around," Lawrence replied. After all, as a CEO, he had an image to uphold.

"If you don't love me anymore, then I'll love Mommy."

Lawrence didn't expect for his son to resort to such move. His expression darkened, and he reluctantly opted for a less crowded spot. Straightening his posture, he squatted down, his long legs drawing attention.

Sidney quickly signaled Oscar who had been waiting behind the shelves the entire time. Last time, he had mentioned to Oscar that their father looked mighty while riding a horse, sitting on top and overlooking the world. He also wanted Oscar to experience the feeling of being cherished by their father. In doing so, Oscar would be on the same side as him, gradually undermining their father's resistance. Sidney's approach was quite cunning.

Oscar hesitated for a moment, his eyes flickering with reluctance. However, he couldn't help slowly walking toward Lawrence and climbing onto his back.

"Are you seated properly?" Lawrence's voice sounded low and warm. Once he was certain that his son was securely positioned behind his back, he slowly stood up, ensuring his son's safety. With broad and strong shoulders, he exuded reliability.

For a moment, Oscar felt like he was floating on a cloud. His little heart beat fast. Bowing his head, he silently pursed his lips as he thought to himself, 'So, this is how it feels to ride Daddy's big horse. Truly, it felt a bit like happiness.'

"Sidney?" Winnie came back and was surprised to see Lawrence, a proud man, letting their son ride behind his back, playing "big horse." However, when her sharp gaze swept over "Sidney" and noticed the surgical scar on his little neck, she became concerned. She immediately recognized that it was Oscar despite his face was covered by a high collar. She frowned slightly, realizing that the two little guys had once again switched.

Feeling anxious yet drawn to Oscar's complex and slightly throbbing gaze, Winnie observed as Oscar pursed his lips and clung tightly to Lawrence's hand, experiencing a sense of unfamiliarity. Though he remained silent, Winnie could sense the conflicted yet somewhat happy emotions emanating from Oscar. Despite his prior expressions of hatred towards his father and the pain he had caused her, deep down, Oscar still yearned for fatherly love.

As Winnie watched the father and son in front of her, she was momentarily lost in thought, reminiscing about three years ago when she was pregnant. Back then, she had envisioned giving birth to a daughter, imagining the joy of watching her ride on her father's back while he stood tall and proud. The image was beyond adorable. Little did she anticipate having twin sons instead. Her heart twitched at the unexpected turn of events, but she swiftly regained her composure, the corners of her mouth forming a faint expression of indifference. With a shake of her head, she continued shopping.

When it was time to pay, the man took out his wallet and asked Winnie to take Sidney and leave first. The little guy shook Winnie's hand and pointed to an item on the cashier counter, asking, "Mommy, what's that little box? Daddy kept looking at it."

Glancing in the direction her son pointed, Winnie's face instantly reddened with embarrassment. Unsure how to face a shameless man like Lawrence, she avoided eye contact. However, the mature man remained oblivious, his gaze filled with curiosity. Winnie pursed her lips, quickly taking her son outside, making sure it was Sidney, not Oscar. Considering Oscar's common sense, he would never ask her such an awkward question.

Even when they returned to the apartment, Winnie continued to ignore Lawrence. He had no idea what was going on. Walking behind, he watched Winnie carrying their child while he held numerous shopping bags. This scene was reminiscent of a husband accompanying his wife, casually shopping at the supermarket, buying groceries and then the wife cooking for her son and husband. Lawrence's gaze slightly deepened, his heart skipped a beat, feeling that something was filling up inside him. Perhaps it was because he had never gone grocery shopping with Darcy before, he had never felt this kind of excitement when he was with her.

The man furrowed his brows, interrupting his train of thought, and shamelessly followed her into the house. Winnie completely ignored his presence, busy taking the grocery bags into the kitchen. Her indifference made Lawrence doubt deeply. After all, she hadn't cooked for him.

While the woman was sorting the clothes, the man secretly looked into the pot. As expected, there was only enough food for two. With a darkened expression, he quietly helped himself to an extra portion.

When Winnie finished plating the food and realized there was enough for one, her mouth twitched. She had underestimated Lawrence's shamelessness. With a frown, she served the meal with a stern expression while Lawrence shamelessly contended for food with his son.

On the other hand, Lawrence finally understood Sidney's instant infatuation with Winnie's cooking. However, he also noticed that his son had changed seats, and even his eating habits seemed more casual.

Oscar lifted his head and asked Lawrence with a smile, "My mommy's cooking is delicious, right?"

"Average," the man replied.

Winnie was speechless. It was evident that he had eaten everything on the plate just a moment ago, leaving no residue.

Oscar, however, was not in a hurry. He leaned on the table, smiling leisurely and said, "It seems that there aren't many men who appreciate Mommy's cooking. Rock is one of them. He said that Mommy's food is heavenly delicious! Mommy, if you ever decide to remarry, you might consider Rock, huh?"

Speechless, Lawrence emanated a chilly aura that immediately enveloped the room; even Winnie, seated on the couch, could sense the coldness.

With a cold and stern face, Lawrence scolded his son, "Your mommy won't remarry, and she will never marry Rock. Not as long as I'm here. Shut up! Do you want a beating?"

Oscar pouted.

Winnie, protecting her child, stood up and sneered. "Why do you have to be so fierce to your own child? Besides, do you have any say in whether or not I remarry? Lawrence, could you please watch TV? They're broadcasting news about your grand wedding next month. You've finished eating, so you can leave. What else do you want?"

Facing the headlines of his upcoming wedding on the television, a slight hesitation gripped the man's chest. His head throbbed, his dark eyes appeared cold and melancholic as he silently regarded the woman before him. At that moment, he wasn't even sure about his own desires.

His lips trembled, not knowing what to say when the phone in his pocket suddenly rang. Lawrence picked it up, glanced at the number, and his expression slightly changed. As he headed toward the patio while stealing a glance at Winnie, he answered the phone, "Is this the Lymington Police Department? Have you caught the kidnapper who took my son?"

Winnie immediately perked up her ears. It seemed that they had found the kidnapper who had severed a limb, and he was alive. There had been progress in the case. She couldn't help but follow behind Lawrence, attempting to eavesdrop on his conversation.
