Chapter 355
Winnie was also watching the dreamy wedding publicity event where Darcy was being interviewed. The announcement was everywhere. There seemed to be no reaction in her eyes as she lowered gaze and chuckled. "Let's go, uncle."
"Some people are just bitter because they can't have what others do, right? A billion-dollar wedding, can you even afford it? Darcy's husband, Lawrence, is indeed wealthy. Not only is he rich, he dotes on Darcy like a treasure and is willing to spend money on her. He has spread the news of their wedding all over the city. I don't think there's a second person in the whole country who treats their spouse like this!" a sharp voice said.
Winnie turned around and saw Lynn and Darcy walking side by side.
"Winnie, I'm sorry if this wedding has disturbed your peace. I have talked to Mr. Rodriguez and told him not to be so ostentatious, but he said he wanted to give me a perfect wedding and didn't want me to have any regrets. Since you have been around him, you should know that he is a gentleman who is meticulous but also domineering." Darcy's face was filled with indulgence.
Lynn glanced at Winnie and said, "Mr. Rodriguez is the type of gentleman who can exhibit different behaviors toward different people. Some women have not found this enjoyable, leading to divorces and abandonment."
"What did you say?" Lena couldn't stand it anymore.
Winnie stopped the angry little girl and said, "After all, he's a man I've been with before. It's like stepping into a toilet and Darcy is picking up my waste like a treasure. What can I say? I wish you both the best."
"You despicable woman!" Lynn didn't expect Winnie to be so vulgar. She had always prided herself on being a debutante and couldn't engage in such an argument in public.
Winnie glanced at Darcy and continued, "I, at least have some experience but can Darcy even handle him? What's so great about a billion-dollar wedding? Men should not be all show and no substance." Her statement indirectly insulted Lawrence.
Lena seemed to understand something and giggled. "If there's no sex life after marriage, what's the point of having all that money in the house?"
Darcy clenched her fists, her face turning red with anger. But she quickly calmed down and pointed to the department behind them, smiling. "Winnie, did you see the obstetrics and gynecology department? For women, the most important thing is children, and Lawrence is very considerate of me in this regard."
"That's right, Lawrence even said he wants to have several children with Darcy. Our family can afford it anyway. Considering Darcy's kidney condition, he's afraid of the pain of childbirth, so he arranged for in vitro fertilization. Darcy, after the wedding, you'll be the most beloved person of the Rodriguez family. As for others, where would they stand?" Lynn emphasized the phrase "others," undoubtedly referring to Sidney.
Winnie stood there, feeling as if something was choking her throat, making it hard for her to breathe. If Darcy's statement during the interview, claiming she wanted to get pregnant that night, was a lie, then the obstetrics and gynecology examination proved otherwise. Her appointment, arranged without Lawrence's consent, suggested that Darcy dared to go through with it. It seemed he was impatiently eager to have a child with Darcy.
In fact, Winnie should have realized long ago that his desire to marry Darcy has never wavered.
Even during her uncle's case, she exposed the Ordelia family, and despite that, he continued to assist Ordelia family, which was apparent. The grand wedding and immediate baby-making shouldn't have come as a surprise. Only she, the fool, would still be deceived by his hypocrisy.
No more. She would not allow herself to be fooled again. Winnie pinched her palm with her fingertips, reassuring herself that it was right to be determined. This jerk was not worth her hesitation at all. Her priority was to save Sidney.
Observing the woman's somewhat pale and indifferent expression, Darcy secretly felt delighted. She stepped forward and feigned concern as she spoke, "Mr. Rodriguez and I are about to become a married couple. I also wish Winnie success in remarrying even though it might be difficult to conceive again. Actually, I also wanted to experience the greatness of childbirth. Mr. Rodriguez doesn't even let me because he is very worried about my well-being considering that I have donated a kidney."
Winnie scoffed and sarcastically responded, "Yeah, they won't let you give birth, but they're willing to let you take hormone injections. You, as a member of a medical family, should know. In vitro fertilization is very painful! Constantly taking medication and injections, needles inserted from below, and you even gain weight. So, Lawrence does cherish you after all."
"What nonsense are you talking about?" Darcy's expression turned slightly sour. Lawrence had actually never mentioned in vitro fertilization. She intentionally brought it up to make Winnie upset upon hearing that she was at the hospital too. Darcy hadn't really looked into in vitro fertilization yet.
"Darcy, she's just scaring you. It's not that scary. I know many wealthy women who have had twins through in vitro fertilization," Lynn immediately spoke up.
Darcy's expression improved a little, and she instinctively touched her cheek. She didn't want to gain weight.
Noticing Darcy's small gesture, Winnie couldn't help but smile meaningfully. She pointed to the gynecology department with her hand and said, "Before undergoing in vitro fertilization, you also need to check whether both parties have any infectious diseases. Darcy, you should be careful."
"What do you mean?" Darcy was puzzled.
Winnie mocked without uttering a word, subtly alluding to Darcy's potential infidelity with Mars. Considering the possibility that Darcy's grand wedding might not materialize, Winnie curled her lips. She couldn't be bothered to get angry. Smirking, she walked away with her uncle.
"What nonsense is this bitch talking about? How could you possibly have an infectious disease?" Lynn angrily scolded.
When Darcy heard Lynn's words, she paused and stared at Winnie's relaxed and indifferent demeanor. That abrupt stop earlier was really strange. She wondered what Winnie was trying to imply.
Darcy rushed to Mars's hotel once again, engaging in a passionate encounter with him. On one hand, she was leveraging her influence in Mars's plan, using the intimacy as a means of control. On the other hand, realizing that after marriage, she would no longer have the freedom to be with other men, she decided to enjoy such encounters while she still could.
Sweating profusely, Darcy recalled Winnie's mysterious behavior at the hospital earlier and suddenly said, "Mars, no one found out about us, right? Please remember to delete all the surveillance footage from the hotel corridor."
"Who would find out? Your husband Lawrence didn't even suspect a thing!" Mars sneered, playing with his phone.
Darcy gave him an annoyed glare and caught a glimpse of him texting a number that seemed familiar. She immediately leaned in for a closer look, and to her surprise, it was Winnie's number.
Darcy was taken aback and snatched the phone away. "Mars, why would Winnie be contacting you? You didn't tell her about us, did you?"
"I have my own reasons." Mars impatiently snatched his phone back, smirking. "I asked Winnie for help dealing with Lawrence. Want to know how she responded? She actually agreed to help. Can you believe it? The most cunning woman, talking about women like you." Mars smirked; his eyes filled with darkness.
Darcy was shocked. She couldn't fathom that Winnie was going against Mr. Rodriguez. Her eyes swiftly darted, filled with suspicion and disbelief, but ultimately, she saw it as great news for herself.
She didn't trust Winnie, and even if there were problems with the chip, all she could do was silently stay by Mr. Rodriguez's side, helping to solve some of the company's difficulties. Mr. Rodriguez wouldn't be tempted by Winnie.
However, in Lawrence's eyes, Winnie could have become a woman who joined forces with an outsider to seek revenge against him. Everything would be have to be foolproof, and that wench would have no chance left.
Darcy quickly turned to Mars and said, "So, you plan to involve Winnie in some action at Island Electronics? I need your help to set up evidence against Winnie at my wedding. I want Mr. Rodriguez and the whole city to see clearly that it was Winnie who sabotaged his company! That wench will be finished."
"Blaming others, you're quite wicked with this move." Mars patted her face, smirked evilly, neither agreeing nor disagreeing.
