Chapter 356

"That's right, Mr. Rodriguez and I are getting married soon. This wench must die," Darcy said, full of hatred.

Mars took a long drag of his cigarette, got off the bed, and walked to the window of the hotel room. The curtains weren't tightly closed, and most of the man's face was hidden behind them, but his sinister gaze glanced toward the building not far away. Mars narrowed his eyes slightly. "Uh, it seems like the person we were spying on, Jeremy, is looking in our direction?"

Across the street, concealed within a building, a high-definition camera was strategically positioned. One of Jeremy's subordinates swiftly communicated with him about the possibility of being discovered by Mars.

Meanwhile, Olivia had already transferred the detailed video captured earlier to her computer. She turned, subtly nodding at Jeremy with an expression that wasn't entirely natural.

"Let's withdraw and disguise ourselves," Jeremy ordered. The subordinate swiftly put away the camera and disconnected it from the hotel's network that they had hacked into.

Olivia stood up as well, wanting to leave immediately, her gaze deliberately avoiding Jeremy's.

"You don't even say thank you?" Jeremy said condescendingly, blocking the petite woman, arching his eyebrows coldly.

Olivia's face stiffened. Winnie had asked her to gather evidence of Darcy having an affair with Mars, and dealing with Mars was no easy feat. She was afraid of exposing herself if she did it alone. Left with no other option, she decided to take the plunge and discreetly reach out to Jeremy for assistance. With his extensive connections and resources, not to mention Lymington being his turf, he seemed the best bet for navigating this delicate situation.

Biting her lip, Olivia worried about one thing. "Jeremy, I hope you won't divulge too much and rush to inform Lawrence. Winnie believes that you are one of the few sensible ones among your foolish group, so you shouldn't be blindly protecting Darcy, right? So, just leave this matter alone."

Jeremy paused and seemed amused. His lips slightly pursed as he approached the woman. "So, what am I doing to help you then?"

Olivia was rendered speechless by his question. She knew that Jeremy was not someone to be messed with.

He gazed at her face and asked softly, "Does Winnie think I'm perceptive, or is it you as well?"

She slipped away from the looming shadow of the tall man, sensing her heartbeat quickening. Olivia acknowledged her own shortcomings, realizing she had been somewhat contemptible-relying on him to handle the dirty work while simultaneously harboring distrust, dislike, and maintaining minimal contact with him.

She quickly turned around with her laptop. The man grabbed her wrist. Since seeing Mia in Perugia City, Jeremy couldn't remain calm. There was such a resemblance to his little girl. Yet, she was suspected to be Sam's child.

"Olivia, I haven't interfered with your daughter these days, but..." he began.

"What right do you have to interfere?" Olivia felt a nerve being pricked and quickly turned back, warning him, "Mia has nothing to do with you; she is not your daughter. Jeremy, don't say anything to the DeRoss family. If Mia gets taken away, I won't forgive you!" After saying that, she ran off, her tone urgent and hostile. She didn't give Jeremy a chance to speak at all.

Jeremy furrowed his brows. He never said he would immediately inform Sam. Besides, deep down, he somehow didn't want this woman to get involved with Sam, considering that Sam wasn't a good person. Yet, when she spoke the words, "Mia is not your daughter," an unexpected twinge pricked at Jeremy's nerves, almost as if he harbored a sudden sense of concern.

He found it very interesting. As for women like Darcy, he had wanted to get rid of her long ago.

Mars, with a subtle smile, picked up a new phone and sent an encrypted message to Winnie: "Since we have formed an alliance, it's your turn to act, Winnie."

Lawrence returned from his business trip and was reviewing some documents in his office when Bryan knocked on the door. The man barely lifted his gaze and lit a cigarette. "Have you found out what Mars is up to?"

Bryan nodded. "After you met with the bosses of Magic Aviation Company and Splendid Energy, Mars went to meet them secretly."

Lawrence took a long drag from his cigarette and exhaled. He leaned back in his large chair. Beneath his narrowed eyes, a cold and disdainful calculation was hidden.

Bryan continued, "It seems that there might be some issues with the chip launch event."

Lawrence scoffed. Crushing the cigarette ash, he smiled at Bryan. "Give him some room to play. Make the necessary arrangements behind the scenes." His smile was icy, aimed at Mars.

Bryan understood and nodded discreetly. After Lawrence finished his cigarette, Bryan handed him a document. "Mr. Rodriguez, your wedding is approaching. Darcy said that she needs you to take a look at something from the protocol department.

"As we are aware, your father naturally won't come. So, your uncle Bob informed the butler that he would come from Trento City and bring a few directors from the Rodriguez family conglomerate to observe the Island Electronics Group. Perhaps they will even donate a few companies from the Rodriguez family for you to manage."

Lawrence squinted, contemplating the situation. His uncle Bob, residing in Trento City, had arranged for directors from the conglomerate to attend his wedding. The plan to donate a few companies to him implied something, and Lawrence vaguely understood. Some things were left unsaid, but it seemed like Bob wanted to make it clear this time.

He couldn't quite explain how he felt about resisting his own background. It was something that he would have to face sooner or later. He also understood why Mars had targeted him.

With a low scoff, he pressed his temples, tired of dealing with the wedding. "You handle the arrangements, don't involve me in the wedding matters." Then he spread out the document once again.

Bryan furrowed his brows, feeling that as the wedding approached, Mr. Rodriguez's mood became more and more restless. He glanced at his phone. Since Mr. Rodriguez went on the business trip, Darcy had called several times to ask if Mr. Rodriguez had returned to the company, but Bryan dared not mention it then.

Leaving the office, Bryan sighed softly.

As the wedding day approached, it finally came to the last day of preparation.

Lawrence hadn't returned to his villa lately. He had been fully immersed in a frenzy of work, eating and sleeping at the company.

In the morning, Darcy couldn't resist and called him, speaking softly and gently, "Mr. Rodriguez, tomorrow is our wedding day. What time will you come back today? You have been working overtime for several days. I'm worried that you haven't been eating well, and you have yet to get your suit fitted."

Lawrence found himself at a dinner party in Lymington when he suddenly realized how quickly time had flown by. He felt a little agitated and casually replied, "My schedule is full for today. Let's talk about it later tonight."

"Mr. Rodriguez..." Darcy hesitated, her voice tinged with sadness, "Why do I feel like you're not happy? Are you unhappy about marrying me? If you really don't want to marry me anymore, then what should I do?"

"Don't think too much, I'm just really busy," Lawrence interrupted with a furrowed brow. "I will definitely come back tonight."

Only then did Darcy suppressed her grievances and happily said, "My parents have come as well. I'll wait for you, Mr. Rodriguez. Let's have dinner together tonight!"

"Okay." After hanging up the phone, Lawrence lost interest in the gathering. He stood up and walked out of the private room into the corridor, absentmindedly smoking.

When Bryan returned, he noticed Lawrence and joined him for a drink. Lawrence readily accepted drinks from the business partners, indicating that something was weighing on his mind. When he was almost drunk, he even asked Bryan, "Bryan, has Winnie not been in contact with you recently?"

Bryan was stunned. Lawrence's question did not make any sense as there was no reason for Winnie to contact him.

Lawrence lowered his gaze and added, "I mean, about the jewelry exhibition project."

Bryan shook his head. "Winnie hasn't been working on the jewelry exhibition project recently."

Lawrence sneered. He was about to get married, and Winnie didn't even bother with their business project anymore.

Meanwhile, Winnie stepped into the lobby of Island Electronics headquarters, clutching a document folder containing several project proposals. One of them had been discreetly given to her by Mars.

The text message on her phone read: "It's your turn to take action." Mars wanted her to find a way to sneak "this problematic document" into Lawrence's office.
