Chapter 328

Olivia sneered. She noticed that he kept calling Lawrence's name incessantly, indicating that Sidney must have caused Lawrence a lot of trouble before.

On the other hand, Winnie lowered her gaze and pursed her lips, her heart pounding nervously. She was unable to answer Sidney for a moment.

Oscar saw the gloomy and anxious expression on his mom's face and quietly understood. As someone who unconditionally stood by his mom, he immediately said to Sidney, "For the time being, we can't let that jerk of a father know about me. Just think, with his personality, if he finds out I'm still alive, he will definitely try to snatch me away from Mommy. Then Mommy will lose everything. Is that what you want to see?"

"But..." Sidney innocently wanted to ask why they couldn't all be together as a family.

Winnie saw the faint hope in her son's eyes. Her emotions were in turmoil, and she resisted with complexity. "Sidney, matters between adults are not easily explained in one or two sentences. Besides, if we let him know he has two children now, the outcome will only be that Darcy will take Oscar away and raise him. You have already suffered enough being by Darcy's side, and Mommy can't let you both get hurt again."

As soon as Darcy was mentioned, Sidney understood. He clenched his fist and coldly said, "Oscar should keep hiding his identity. It's Lawrence's own fault for being with that awful woman. He won't even realize his son is right there under his nose! Let's keep teasing him. On the other hand, I'll go and reveal Darcy's conspiracy to him immediately."

"Sidney, I'm concerned that this plan won't be effective," Oscar said, calmly shaking his head. "Even if Dad believes the words of a three-year-old like you, hiding my existence will remove Darcy's motivation to harm me. However, she'll undoubtedly discover a way to silence you without raising suspicion." Oscar's anger trembled beneath his composed demeanor.

Winnie comforted her son and had already considered her son's analysis. Now they could only hope for the police investigation. But she would definitely avenge her sons. She narrowed her eyes coldly and reassured the child, "Sidney, you should quietly return to your ward. I will take care of everything and seek justice for both of you."

Sidney pouted as the gathering continued, reluctantly watching for a while before slipping out of the ward. When he returned to his own ward downstairs, he overheard his father talking in the room next to Darcy's. It seemed like there were police involved.

Within the ward, Darcy was surprised by Lawrence's unexpected visit. They hadn't managed to have a private conversation since he had summoned the police to inquire about the situation at the cave where the kidnappers were restrained.

"Did all the kidnappers die in the explosion?" Lawrence furrowed his brow. He had left too quickly due to Sidney's injuries and hadn't had the opportunity to inspect the scene himself.

"One of them managed to escape. Based on the severed limbs found at the scene, we are actively pursuing and investigating this fugitive," the police explained.

Lawrence flicked his cigarette and remained silent.

Darcy's eyes darkened in secret. Mars had escaped and set off a bomb in the cave. It was surely meant to silence the kidnappers, but she hadn't expected one of them to escape as well. This had inevitably become a disaster, and she wondered if Lawrence would take care of it.

Just as she was worrying, Lawrence spoke up, "The sudden explosion in the cave is suspicious. Who planted the bomb? I want a thorough investigation."

Darcy as the rescued victim and eyewitness was instructed by Lawrence, "Darcy, the police now want to investigate the entire case. You need to provide a detailed account of everything that happened during the kidnapping. Answer their questions truthfully."

Darcy clenched her fists tightly as she weakly asked, "Mr. L, the kidnappers didn't target Mr. Mitchell from the auction company. Could it be that this case is related to Winnie?"

Lawrence twisted his cigarette but didn't answer. His gaze was as piercing as a hawk's.

The police turned on their recording devices and computers. "Darcy, please relax and cooperate with our investigation. Can you explain why you took Sidney to the bridal center before the incident and how you noticed that he was kidnapped?"

Darcy's heart raced, but she had already prepared her script. Since she had the audacity to stage the entire case, she had the ability to clear herself completely. Furthermore, she stuck to her story that the kidnappers intended to harm Sidney, but she protected him the entire time and got injured.

The police questioning continued until the afternoon. Darcy's mouth was dry, and she was exhausted, but Lawrence had already rushed over to see Sidney when he woke up. There was only Barbara left there with her. Darcy was starving and told Barbara to go out and buy some food for her.

As soon as the door to the ward closed, it opened again with a creak. Annoyed, she lifted her head and saw a figure in a white coat entering the bathroom. After a while, the "nurse" came out with a basin of water. Darcy lay there, annoyed. "It's not time for my sponge bath yet. Which department are you from? Get out!"

No one answered her. Instead, she heard the sound of the door being locked. She hesitated, feeling that something was wrong, when suddenly a shadow covered her vision. The "nurse" removed her mask, revealing her cold and stunning face. Her eyes were as cold as ice, and she sneered. "Listen at the way you speak, so full of energy."

Darcy suddenly opened her eyes, fully awake. "Winnie? What are you here for?" She immediately looked around the hospital room. Barbara was not there with her, and there were no bodyguards, just emptiness. "Don't even think about laying a hand on me Mr. L, help me!"

Winnie didn't give her a chance to speak as she removed her breathing mask, took the basin of water, and forcefully dunked Darcy's head into the cold water.

"Ah...!"

Winnie sneered and pressed harder. Every time Darcy choked on a large amount of water, Winnie pulled her up, not giving her a chance to catch her breath, and then drowned her again. Her gaze turned frigid as she drew near, murmuring to Darcy, "Word has it you made my son drink contaminated water. I simply added some detergent to even the score. Fair, isn't it?"

"How, how did you know?" Darcy was completely panicked. It dawned on her that the asthmatic little bastard might still be alive.

"You guessed it right, my Oscar is still alive and thanks to you, I discovered that I have two sons!"

"How is that possible?" Darcy couldn't believe it. The asthmatic child was thrown into the cave for a full two hours. After it was bombed, the entrance was buried deep, and no one knew that there were two children there. After Sidney was taken away, Winnie could only assume that her child was gone. Discovering another one seemed impossible.

Darcy found it incomprehensible. Teetering on the brink of madness, she harbored a desire for both of the little bastards to meet their demise. However, instead of bringing her satisfaction, it only laid bare the truth to Winnie. As her expression darkened, almost turning purple, she struggled to catch her breath and grappled with the urge to confront Winnie.

However, Winnie could never give her the chance. She pressed on the "wound" on Darcy's arm, cruelly scratching it with her nails, determined to use the most brutal means to make this woman experience the pain that Oscar had endured.
