Chapter 111
Bob's legs were shaking like crazy when he heard Michael's threat to bury him alive, and he just collapsed to his knees.
"Mr. Williams, please, have mercy! I don't wanna die. Mrs. Williams, I know I messed up by framing you, but I couldn't risk going against Scarlett. I had no choice. Please, spare me," Bob begged, tears and snot making a mess of his face.
Isabella sighed, clearly exasperated. No matter how good-looking someone was, they always looked awful when they cried like that.
"Don't bother burying him alive. Just hand him over to the cops and let them handle it," Isabella said, waving her hand like she was swatting a fly.
Two bodyguards came in and dragged Bob away.
Bob's voice echoed as he was taken away. "Thank you, Mr. Williams! Thank you, Mrs. Williams! God bless you both. Thank you!"
Honestly, Bob had thought about going to prison before. He just didn't want to lose his freedom, so he never went through with it. But now, Isabella had made the choice for him. At least in prison, he'd be safe from harm.
As for the money Bob owed the mob boss, it wasn't a huge amount. The real problem was the interest. It was a lot for Bob, but just pocket change for the mob boss. He wouldn't bother killing Bob over such a small amount in prison. It wasn't worth the trouble.
After dealing with Scarlett and her mom, Kenna was wiped out. He waved his hand and headed back to his room to rest.
The living room was left with just Michael and Isabella.
"I'm really sorry, Isabella. You've had a rough time here," Michael said, holding her apologetically.
Isabella sighed. "Maybe it's a test from God. I'm used to it by now."
"Isabella, hearing you say that makes me a bit sad," Michael teased with a smile.
Isabella rolled her eyes, slapped Michael's hand away from her chest, and got up from the sofa, heading upstairs. "I've been here too long. I'm starting to miss my friends back home."
Michael raised an eyebrow. Things back home were still dangerous; Paxton was still hunting for Isabella.
'If Isabella keeps hiding abroad, people back home might think she's a coward. With her personality, she wouldn't stand for that. Looks like I need to get ready to send her back at the right time,' Michael thought, narrowing his eyes as he stood up and followed her.
In the bedroom, Isabella lay on the bed playing with her phone, and Michael lay down beside her.
This time, Michael's hand slipped behind Isabella's neck, holding her shoulder, and she leaned against his chest.
Earlier, in the living room with all the servants around, Isabella didn't want to get too cozy with Michael. But now, in the privacy of the bedroom, they were both way more relaxed.
Michael's hand started to slowly slide down Isabella's neck towards her chest, moving like a sneaky snail.
Suddenly, Isabella saw a news notification on her phone and froze. "There's going to be a tech exhibition here! John's uncle is going to be there!"
Michael's hand stopped in its tracks. He was planning to attend that tech exhibition to show off their company's latest tech to the international crowd.
"You seem pretty excited to meet John's uncle!" Michael teased.
Isabella nodded seriously. "Mr. Williams helped me a lot back home! And anyone in business knows his legendary name! People say he's super handsome and has a great physique, like a movie star."
Michael listened to her gush about him, feeling both proud and a bit annoyed.
"You seem to like Mr. Williams a lot!" Michael said, pouting.
Isabella sensed something off in his tone, picking up on the jealousy.
"I just respect him for helping me!" Isabella rolled her eyes.
Michael pulled his hand back and asked, "If you had to choose between me and him as your husband, who would you pick?"
"Of course, I'd choose you! I only feel gratitude towards him, maybe a bit of curiosity at most." Isabella looked at Michael helplessly. How could he be so jealous?
Michael pouted, still looking dissatisfied. "A lot of women fall in love out of curiosity."
"I didn't know you were so jealous! I just look up to him, that's all. You seriously think I'd do something with him or ditch you for his sake? What do you take me for?" Isabella was furious and kicked Michael off the bed.
"If you can't get over your ridiculous jealousy, then don't bother me!" Isabella said angrily, pushing Michael out of the room and slamming the door shut.
Michael looked at the closed door and sighed. He realized he might have gone too far.
Feeling frustrated, Michael scratched his head and pulled out his phone to call Benjamin in another country.
The call was quickly answered, suggesting Benjamin was already on his phone.
"Michael? What's up? Don't tell me you had another fight with Isabella?" Benjamin teased.
Michael sighed and recounted what had happened.
"Tell me, what should I do to get Isabella to forgive me?" Michael asked, noticing Benjamin had gone silent on the other end.
Michael frowned and asked, "Are you still there? Answer me."
Laughter erupted from the other end. "My God, you're jealous of yourself! This has to be the funniest joke of the year! I wish I could open your skull and see what's inside!"
Michael's face darkened from being mocked. "If you keep laughing, when I return, I'll crack open your skull to check out its design."
Benjamin coughed twice, finally holding back his laughter.
