Chapter 252

Michael made a bold guess that someone knew about the conflict between John and Mason. So they planned to kill John and subsequently pinned the blame on Michael.

The aim was to create the illusion of an uncle murdering his nephew for inheritance, thus sowing discord between Mason and Michael.

Upon hearing Michael's supposition, Mason nodded in concurrence.

"You make a good point. Since they might be trying to frame you, you should investigate this matter," Mason directed Michael.

Michael nodded, rising. "I got it, Mason. I'll check the hotel now."

Just as Michael was about to leave the hospital room, Charles suddenly remembered something.

"Oh, and Ms. Taylor was at the hotel today for a banquet," Charles reported. "Mr. Williams and Bianca suspected her of planting the bomb and argued with her at the entrance, but Joseph Davis intervened."

Michael paused for a moment, and Mason caught his body language, narrowing his eyes.

"Why is Isabella involved with Joseph again? Any thoughts on that, Michael?" Mason's tone sounded curious but with a hint of probing.

Michael's expression was serious. "We suspect this matter may be related to the four major families, and Joseph's appearance is very suspicious."

"Then investigate. And don't let John misunderstand Isabella again," Mason said, gesturing for Michael to leave the hospital room.

Leaving the hospital, Michael frowned. Isabella's presence at the banquet was an unexpected complication.

As Michael sat in the car, preparing to send someone to the hotel, his phone suddenly rang.

Michael glanced at the caller ID, it was Isabella calling.

Michael answered the phone and heard Isabella's helpless voice.

"Darling, I had a really bad day today. I was once again suspected by John and Bianca," Isabella sighed deeply after speaking.

Michael raised an eyebrow, knowing Isabella was talking about what happened at the banquet, but he had to pretend not to know.

"What's wrong, dear? What happened? Did you see John and Bianca again today?" Michael inquired, his tone light and reassuring.

Isabella nodded and recounted what happened at the banquet.

"I was hoping to meet some business partners at the banquet so that I could accelerate the company's development when I take over in the future. I didn't expect to encounter such a stroke of bad luck. I feel like God has been against me," Isabella said, rubbing her face helplessly.

"It's okay, dear. I'm coming for you. You'll feel better with me there," Michael said reassuringly with a smile.

Isabella immediately refused, "You must not come over. John has been investigating your identity, and if he sees you, he might find out that you work in his company. Then he will have many ways to target you."

Michael agreed right away, "Alright, I'll stay put then."

Isabella was surprised, "You agree so readily?"

Michael chuckled, "What's the alternative? We play out the whole movie and TV show routine-me insisting on coming, you turning me down, exchanging sweet words, dragging it out for half an hour, and then I finally decide not to show up. Seems like a waste of time, doesn't it?"

Isabella laughed on the other end of the phone, "Darling, you have a point. Whenever I see such plots in movies and novels, I always find them boring and silly. Your decisiveness impresses me."

"I am a business genius," Michael remarked with a hint of self-mockery.

"Yes, my husband is the ruler of a business empire! The number one on the world's rich list!" Isabella rolled her eyes and said playfully.

"The top spot on the rich list? They might not be as wealthy as I am. I keep a low profile; my face isn't plastered all over the internet," Michael mused.

Isabella shook her head with a smile, "Alright, darling, let's drop the jokes. It's not April Fool's Day. Seriously though, after everything I've told you, who do you think is behind all this? Could it be Bianca? Is she trying to set me up?"

"What do you think?" Michael responded, his voice a mirror to her contemplations.

Isabella spoke with a grave tone, "Think about it. Despite Mason and John's strained relationship, John is still the family heir. Mason must value him. Bianca orchestrated the car explosion to make me look ruthless, to suggest I'm trying to eliminate John as well. The goal? To make Mason distrust me."

Michael nodded in agreement. "You make a good point, but dear, have you considered that John and Mason are not fools? Do you really have the resources to acquire a bomb? Don't you think they'd eventually uncover the truth?"

Isabella hesitated for a moment and subconsciously nodded. "You're right, I don't have the money to buy a bomb at all. And no one would help me install it. Hold on, why do I get the feeling you're talking down to me?"

Isabella pouted in annoyance. Although Michael's words were grounded in reality, they still stung her pride.

Isabella, once a prominent heir among the four great families, had been surrounded by those eager to serve her every whim. Now, with her family's fortunes diminished, she found herself reliant on a small circle of loyal friends and her husband.

Michael also understood this. Initially, he did suspect Bianca, but upon further thought, he felt Bianca had no reason to do such a thing.

When it came to dealing with Bianca, John might seem like a fool. But when it came to his own safety, he was smarter than anyone else.

"The target of this explosion may be John, and you were just unintended influenced," Michael told Isabella the same guess he had told Mason.

Isabella was startled, "What is the motive of the killer? Is it to divide the Williams Family?"

"In the art of war, a strong enemy is best weakened by division," Michael said lightly.
