Chapter 377
Zoey couldn't help but feel frustrated. She had planned to use Bianca and John's relationship to rile up Isabella, but Isabella didn't seem to care at all and even turned the tables on her.
"Enough, stop laughing! Is it polite to make such jokes in front of me?" Zoey snapped at Isabella, her eyes blazing with anger.
Estella took a deep breath, finally managing to stifle her laughter.
"Alright, Mrs. Brown, we don't need to stay here any longer. Isabella, I think there might be some misunderstanding between us. Actually, I don't have to insist on choosing an SUV; it was just a sudden idea. I can look at another car," Estella said with a gentle smile towards Isabella.
Estella always remembered Michael's warning not to tarnish his reputation by using his name outside. She thought she had done well in this regard. Besides promoting film projects, she rarely appeared in public or discussed her marriage.
Michael was very satisfied with Estella's performance, providing her with ample resources. Recently, she had another new movie to shoot, which made her very grateful to Michael.
Estella wanted to take Zoey elsewhere to look at cars, but Zoey stood still like a pillar, refusing to move.
Estella was very annoyed. If it weren't for Michael's task for her to get close to Zoey and gather information about the Brown Family, she wouldn't want to deal with her at all.
"Ms. Foster, you are too gentle! If it weren't for your husband's protection, you would definitely be at a disadvantage in front of others! Just like today! Are you going to keep backing down when others bully you?" Zoey said to Estella, clearly annoyed.
Estella widened her eyes, almost swearing out loud. Zoey's deliberate targeting of Isabella had caused the conflict. This wouldn't have happened if she was alone.
"Mrs. Brown, I think that's enough. I don't need an SUV. I like other cars as well, there's no need to choose this one." Estella's tone carried a hint of warning. She didn't want to stay here any longer. She saw customers looking over in their direction, worried that someone might capture this scene and post it online, which would damage her reputation.
However, Zoey clearly didn't want to let Isabella off so easily.
The argument attracted the manager of the car dealership.
The manager of the store was Luke Riddick, a long-time employee under John's command, so he knew who the four women in front of him were.
Isabella had been engaged to John before, although they had broken up, she still had Mason as a backer. Estella was John's uncle's wife, also considered part of the Williams Family. The other two women were important figures in the four major families.
Luke smiled bitterly; he couldn't afford to provoke any of these women."Ladies, is there anything I can help with?" Luke approached, trying to keep his cool. He really didn't want to be in the middle of this, but as the manager, he had to step in.
Zoey pointed at Estella and said to Luke, "You know her; she's John's uncle's wife. She wants to buy this car, but these two say they saw it first. Who should buy it?"
Luke wished he could just disappear. Zoey was making things way too complicated. He was just a small fry; why should he get involved in a fight he couldn't win? He cursed Zoey in his head but kept a professional smile plastered on his face.
"Ladies, I'm sorry to inform you that this SUV is not for sale. It's just for display and has been touched by many customers. Considering your distinguished status, you wouldn't want a car that's been handled by so many people. If you really like it, you can leave a deposit, and we'll deliver a brand new one to your home soon," Luke said respectfully.
In Luke's mind, it was better not to offend anyone. Instead of giving the car to one person and making enemies of the others, it was fairer for no one to get it. As for the dealership losing out on a sale, that wasn't his problem. Luxury cars always had buyers, even if the four major families didn't buy, there were plenty of other wealthy customers.
Luke's plan seemed perfect, but reality had other ideas. Zoey wasn't buying it.
"Who said this car isn't for sale? I asked before, and your store never had such a policy. Are you deliberately targeting us?" Zoey glared at Luke, her expression icy.
If looks could kill, Luke would be six feet under.
Luke took a deep breath and forced a smile. "Ma'am, even if this car is for sale, do you really want to drive one that's been used by so many people?"
He looked at Estella, Isabella, and Avery.
All three women shook their heads. To them, a car was like a personal item.
Some men even joked online that cars and wives were not for lending, equating cars with partners.
A car that had been experienced by many people felt uncomfortable to them, given their status.
Luke felt a wave of relief seeing Isabella and the others' reactions. Especially Estella's; since the car was for her, if she didn't want it, Zoey couldn't argue.
But then Zoey said, "I don't mind if many people have used this car. Since Ms. Foster doesn't like it, I'll buy it for my husband; he doesn't mind anyway."
Luke was stunned.
Avery, standing nearby, sneered, "That makes sense. My brother Joseph happens to want a new car. I'll give this one to him! Consider it sisterly love for my brother."
