Chapter 378
Luke was feeling pretty down. After all that effort, he was right back where he started.
Even though Isabella and Estella weren't involved this time, the families backing them were not ones he could mess with.
As Luke was mulling over his next move, he spotted someone walking in from outside, and his eyes lit up.
"Sorry, ladies, I need to step away for a moment. Mr. Williams just arrived, and I need to deliver the car he ordered," Luke said, quickly heading towards John.
'If I can't handle this, I'll find someone who can,' Luke thought, feeling a bit relieved. But he knew he couldn't just dump the problem on John directly.
Bosses hate it when their employees pass problems up the chain; it makes them look bad. Luke knew this all too well.
"Mr. Williams, your car is here. Also, Isabella and your uncle's wife are here. Do you want to go say hi?" Luke asked, testing the waters.
Luke's question was like bait, dropping Isabella and Estella's names to spark John's interest. If John took the bait, Luke could hand the problem over to him.
John glanced over to where Luke was pointing and saw Isabella and Estella.
"What are they doing here?" John asked.
Luke gave a wry smile and said, "Isabella and her friend are here to buy a car. Ms. Davis wants the latest off-road vehicle we have. But Ms. Foster and Mrs. Brown also want that car. Mrs. Brown is now arguing with Ms. Davis over it."
John frowned slightly, sensing Luke was trying to rope him in.
Luke stayed calm, leaning in a bit, waiting for John's next move.
John walked over to the four women and greeted them. Avery, Zoey, and Estella responded, but Isabella just gave him a glance and stayed silent.
John looked at Isabella, feeling a bit of tension.
"Sorry, ladies, Luke doesn't know the full story. Actually, this car is mine now and won't be sold to anyone. If you like this model, Luke can help you reserve one," John said smoothly.
If Estella wanted the car, he'd definitely give it to her since they were closer. But from what Luke had said, it seemed like Zoey was the one really interested, so John didn't need to step in.
Luke followed behind John, feeling pretty pleased. With someone powerful backing you, tough situations could get a lot easier.
Luke had thought about saying the same thing as John before, but he didn't have the guts to make that call.
Zoey was still pretty unhappy, but she knew she couldn't use this car to get at Isabella anymore.
"Sorry for the hassle. How about this: pick any car you like, and I'll give you a fifty percent discount," John said with a casual smile. That's the kind of confidence that comes with having money.
These women could afford a car, but John's offer showed he respected them as customers.
"That's awesome, John, thanks. Mrs. Brown, let's go check out that red sports car. It looks pretty sweet," Estella said, smiling at John before dragging Zoey along.
This time, Zoey didn't resist and just followed Estella.
Once Estella and Zoey were gone, Isabella took Avery to look at other cars.
John wanted to chat with Isabella, but seeing Avery with her, he decided to let them go.
Isabella and Avery walked over to another car.
Pointing at an SUV, Avery asked Isabella, "I've had my eye on this one. What do you think?"
Isabella checked out the SUV and then glanced at a white sedan nearby. "From my point of view, the white sedan looks better, but if you like the SUV, go for it."
Avery looked at the white sedan. "You're right, the sedan is really nice, but I already have too many like that. I'll go with the SUV."
Avery called Luke over to finalize the purchase.
John, standing nearby, overheard their conversation and also eyed the white sedan.
After Luke and Avery wrapped up the paperwork, John called Luke over. "When the cars are ready, give that white sedan to Isabella."
Luke was surprised for a moment but then nodded. Since the dealership belonged to John, he could give away cars as he pleased, and it wasn't Luke's concern.
When the two cars were ready, Isabella heard that John wanted to give her a car, and she frowned.
"Looks like John still has feelings for you! But he's never given you a car or any gifts before, not even on your birthday. Why so generous now?" Avery teased, curious.
Isabella snorted. "I don't care why he's giving me such an expensive gift. I'm married and can't accept his affection. I'll just return the keys."
Isabella walked back into the dealership and found John, tossing the keys to him.
"I don't need your charity. This is my final warning. I'm married and can't accept your love. You already have Bianca, so leave me alone," Isabella said coldly.
John held the keys, smiled bitterly, and shook his head. "Isabella, you've got it wrong. I'm not giving you this car to pursue you, but to show my gratitude."
