Chapter 320
Tim had heard from Joe earlier that Jasper had given him a bunch of gold teeth.
Back then, Tim thought Jasper had handed over all of his gold teeth, but he was shocked to find out there were still some left in his mouth.
Tim headed back to his hotel and flopped onto the bed. Jasper's place was just across the street. To avoid suspicion, he took a bit of a detour.
He pulled out his phone and called Michael to fill him in on Jasper's latest antics.
"So, you're telling me Jasper's out there selling gold teeth again?" Michael's brow furrowed, his eyes flickering with thought.
Tim nodded. "Yeah, Mr. Williams. Jasper checks the gold price every day. Honestly, I feel like prying open his mouth to see how many gold teeth he's still got."
After Tim finished talking, he noticed Michael had gone quiet on the other end. Figuring Michael was deep in thought, he stayed silent and waited.
A few minutes later, Michael's voice came through the phone.
"Do you think Jasper might have turned all his embezzled money into gold?" Michael asked.
Tim was caught off guard. "Turned it all into gold? Well, it's not impossible, but considering how much he embezzled, that'd be a ton of gold, right?"
Michael chuckled. "If that's what he did, then Jasper's a real idiot. There are so many ways to hide assets, and he picked the dumbest one."
Tim scratched his head with a sheepish grin. "Honestly, Mr. Williams, if I were trying to hide money, I'd probably invest in some valuable items and stash them away."
"You don't get business and finance, and that's okay. But Jasper, running a company and not thinking of better ways, just shows he's got the business sense of a rock," Michael grumbled about Jasper again.
"The price of gold is going up in two days. Keep a close watch on Jasper. If he really turned all that money into gold, he'll definitely make a move soon," Michael instructed Tim before hanging up.
After the call, Tim scratched his head and muttered with a wry smile, "Mr. Williams knows his stuff, but Jasper really does seem like a fool in camparison."
Meanwhile, members of the four major families were trickling into Novaria. Despite the chaos, they had some connections here to help them handle shady business.
They reached out to their contacts, and with the help of local gangs, started hunting for Jasper.
With the gangs on the lookout, it was only a matter of time before they found Jasper. Despite his disguises, he wasn't completely safe.
Two days later, Jasper showed up at the jewelry store again. This time, his eyes lit up when he saw the gold prices.
"Awesome, it's even higher than before! I'm finally gonna strike it rich!" Jasper was so excited he almost teared up. He quickly looked down to hide his emotions.
Not far away, Tim was watching the whole scene unfold, a smirk playing on his lips. He thought, 'Looks like Mr. Williams was right. Jasper really did turn all that embezzled money into gold.'
After leaving the jewelry store, Jasper headed straight back to his place and stayed in for the rest of the day.
Tim lay in his room, quietly monitoring the location updates on his phone. He was patient, knowing Jasper would make a move eventually. Based on human nature, Jasper was likely to act late at night.
Tim stayed alert, ready to spring into action at any moment.
Suddenly, his phone vibrated. Tim's eyes snapped open, and he saw a red dot flashing on the screen, indicating Jasper was on the move.
'Is he finally making a move? Let's see where he's hiding all that money,' Tim thought, a glint of excitement in his eyes as he quickly left the hotel.
Meanwhile, under the cover of night, Jasper made his way to a rundown warehouse.
Jasper was super cautious, constantly checking his surroundings to make sure he wasn't being followed.
With the tracking device, Tim didn't need to get too close, avoiding the risk of being spotted.
Tim found that Jasper had stayed in one spot for a very long time before finally leaving. He followed the tracker to the rundown warehouse.
The warehouse door was locked and reeked of chemicals, a smell so bad even the homeless avoided it.
Covering his nose, Tim approached the door and found a lock. Picking it was no big deal for him.
He pulled out a thin wire, inserted it into the lock, and soon enough, the door clicked open.
Inside, the smell was even worse. Tim lifted his shirt to cover his nose and started searching.
But all he found were some old plastic barrels.
"Damn, there's nothing here! Did we guess wrong? Did Jasper turn all that money into plastic barrels? Is he planning to sell scrap?" Tim muttered in frustration.
Just as he was about to leave, he suddenly stopped.
"Wait a minute. This place doesn't add up. The warehouse looks huge from the outside, but the inside seems smaller." Tim squinted, suspecting there was a hidden room.
He searched again and accidentally pushed an ornament on a shelf, triggering a mechanism.
A wall slowly slid open, revealing several cars behind it.
"Could it be? If so, Jasper really surprised me." Tim could hear his heartbeat pounding in his chest.
He walked over to one of the cars, pulled out a small knife, and scraped the surface. Under the paint, gold gleamed!
"These cars are made of gold! I was right after all," Tim's face lit up with excitement.
