Chapter 244

After a quick chat with Bianca, she hung up. She didn't need to worry about the next steps; John had it covered. If she kept trying to handle things herself, she might end up clashing with John's crew again, and that would definitely raise some red flags.

Not long after she put down the phone, she heard those familiar footsteps outside the door. A soft smile spread across her face in anticipation.

The bedroom door swung open, and John walked in.

"Hey babe, you're back. Did you see Mason?" Bianca asked as she got off the bed and took John's coat, hanging it up carefully.

John sat on the bed, wrapping his arms around Bianca's waist. She noticed he looked a bit worn out.

"What's up, babe? Something happen?" Bianca asked, a bit worried.

John nodded. "Yeah, I saw Michael at the hospital. I asked him if he sent someone to take you out, and he denied it."

John hesitated, not going into all the details about what went down at the hospital, just giving her a quick rundown of the ward visit.

"I believe Michael didn't do it. But why were the Brown Family's people there?" Bianca's eyes searched John's face, curiosity lighting up her gaze.

John shook his head. "I have no idea why Paxton did that. It can't be because Jasper and Mia once claimed they were buried alive by Paxton."

Bianca's expression tightened. 'If that's the reason...' Bianca thought of Pearl's incident.

Pearl had once teamed up with Bianca to kidnap Isabella. Bianca wondered if Paxton knew about that. If Paxton couldn't find the real culprit, would he come after her?

Bianca thought to herself, 'I need to be extra careful right now. I can't put myself in any risky situations.'

"Oh, babe, I just remembered something. Jasper is a wanted man now. He's got nowhere to run, so he'll probably try to contact you. But if I can think of that, so can Isabella, Mason, and even the cops. So you need to be super careful; they're probably watching you." Bianca looked at John with concern.

She was really worried about John, especially after today's scare. She'd heard some of John's guys had died. No matter how tough you are, a bullet doesn't care. Indeed, someone like him might even be a more likely target.

John kissed her forehead, holding her close. "Don't worry, babe. I'm always careful. But I'll keep your advice in mind. I'll wear a bulletproof vest when I go out."

Feeling reassured, Bianca wrapped her arms around John's neck and kissed his cheek.

At that moment, John carefully brought up a touchy subject. "Babe, have you ever thought about what would happen if you got Jasper's shares?"

"Of course, with your help, we'd bring the family back to its former glory," Bianca replied instinctively, then suddenly realized something was off.

"Wait a minute, that embezzled money... damn it, you can't use your money to help me. This is your bet with Mason. We have to catch Jasper and make him spill where the embezzled funds are!" Bianca finally realized what she'd missed.

For John, the amount Jasper embezzled was just small change, but for Bianca, it was a huge deal.

"That damn Jasper, he should rot in hell. He really knows how to mess things up for us," Bianca fumed, biting her lip in anger.

John gently stroked her hair and said, "Babe, I wanted to talk to you about this. Instead of filling that gap, how about I help you launch a new company? I've told Mason not to use any money, but my network can bring in a large number of clients. I just need to snap my fingers, and people will come running with money. There's no need to stick with those three companies. And honestly, I think it's better to hand them over to Isabella. I'm curious to see how she'll manage to fill that financial gap."

John thought his plan was solid. Bianca couldn't account for the embezzled money, and neither could Isabella.

John and Mason's bet was binding on both of them, and Isabella couldn't get a loan from Mason. If she got Jasper's shares but couldn't pay John, she'd be going to jail.

But after hearing John's suggestion, Bianca shook her head.

"Babe, we have to get those three companies," she said firmly.

John furrowed his brow, confused. "Those three companies are on the brink of bankruptcy. Why are you so set on them?"

Bianca gritted her teeth. "I've always sensed there's a deeper story behind those three companies. Think about it, when Jasper made the whole family lose so many companies, these three have been around for years. Even though you invested in them, your investments aren't limited to just these three. Yet only these three survived! I suspect there's something really important to our family in these companies."

John's expression grew thoughtful as he considered the possibility.

"You make a good point, but I've looked into these companies and haven't found anything unusual," John said, shrugging helplessly.

"Though I can't see anything special about them, I'll help you get the shares if you really want them," John smiled at Bianca.

"Thank you so much, babe," Bianca whispered, wrapping her arms around John's neck and kissing him softly.

John kissed her back, and their embrace grew more passionate, their clothes gradually falling away.
