Chapter 126
Jerry checked his phone again, making sure the message was really from Michael. He felt a bit annoyed.
'It's just a slight choking. Why's Michael so mad?' Jerry thought. He pondered for a moment and quickly figured it out.
When someone attacks another person, they rarely do it quietly. John must've said something while hurting Isabella, something the onlookers didn't hear, but Michael found out from Isabella. That's why John was in trouble now.
A car pulled up by the roadside, not far from the bar where John would be coming out tonight.
Jerry and his crew waited in the car for about 20 minutes before finally spotting John.
John's steps were wobbly, showing he'd had a lot to drink at the bar. According to Jerry's investigation, ever since Bianca got locked up, John had been in a bad mood and went out drinking every night. Despite his frequent bar visits, John seemed to have a strong attachment to Bianca, as he turned down every woman who tried to approach him.
"Mr. Nelson, when should we move?" a masked guy whispered to Jerry.
Jerry glanced at John's car parked by the roadside. As the heir to a powerful family, John had bodyguards with him. To get to John, they had to distract his bodyguards first.
"Now. Follow Plan A," Jerry said, waving his hand. The van door opened, and a group of men got out.
These guys were seasoned fighters, pros at handling bodyguards and kidnapping targets.
It was prime drinking time, and a crowd had gathered outside the bar. John's bodyguards, alert and on edge, sensed something was off when they saw a group of men approaching.
"Mr. Williams, get in the car!" a bodyguard shouted, pulling John toward the car.
Jerry's men quickly closed in, throwing a handful of lime powder into the bodyguards' eyes to blind them.
John's reactions were slow due to the alcohol. By the time he realized something was wrong, it was too late. A fighter put a black bag over his head, and another knocked him out with a stun gun.
The bodyguards struggled to open their eyes and tried to rush to John's aid, but they were quickly overpowered by the fighters. These fighters fought dirty, using stun guns, lime powder, and even pepper spray.
The fighters' goal was to prevent the bodyguards from rescuing John. They only needed to buy time until two of their companions carried John away and threw him into a van. Afterwards, the fighters dispersed.
One of the bodyguards, trembling with pain, managed to pull out his phone and make a call. Soon, reinforcements arrived to tend to the bodyguards and began searching for John.
John was jolted awake by a splash of cold water. His eyes were covered with a blindfold, preventing him from seeing his surroundings.
Jerry stood nearby, gripping a steel baseball bat. He looked at John, then at the bat, and finally sighed.
'John, don't blame us. You brought this on yourself by hurting Isabella,' Jerry thought, feeling a bit guilty. He then raised the bat and swung it at John.
John felt a sharp pain in his leg and screamed, "Do you know who I am? You're all dead! Just wait!"
No matter how much John cursed or bragged about his Williams family inheritance, the fighters around him acted like they didn't hear a thing, relentlessly beating him with their bats.
Jerry held back a bit, making sure they avoided hitting John's vital areas like his head and groin. Most of the blows landed on John's back and butt.
When the sound of a bone breaking echoed, John clutched his leg, howling in pain.
Jerry decided it was enough. He planted the bat on the ground and used a hoarse voice to say, "Our Brown Family suffered the same treatment from you before. Consider this payback."
Hearing Jerry's words, John thought the Brown family was nuts. Before he could process it further, he heard the sound of a stun gun. A sharp pain shot through his neck, and he blacked out again.
When John woke up, he was in a hospital. His leg was suspended in a sling. He had injured his leg in a car accident before, and now the other leg was hurt, making them somewhat symmetrical.
Mason was shocked to hear that John had been kidnapped, but soon news came that the kidnappers had dumped John at the hospital entrance.
When John woke up, he saw Mason sitting by his bed.
"Grandpa, you have to help me find those guys! The people who kidnapped me are from the Brown family! They're retaliating against me because they think we attacked their members. I won't let them get away with this!" John's face was filled with anger.
Mason's expression was very grim, but he shook his head. "This might not be Paxton and his people. It could be the same group who kidnapped Pearl. They're trying to provoke further conflict between our families."
Mason's words hit John like a ton of bricks. All this time searching for Pearl and the others - for nothing! If it was the same group, finding them was hopeless, and John's revenge would remain a fantasy.
"Have you offended anyone recently?" Mason asked in a deep voice.
John frowned, thinking carefully, and shook his head. "No, I haven't offended anyone recently."
The words were barely out when a jolt of recognition slammed into him. Isabella. He'd offended Isabella today. Because she rejected his roses and slapped him, he had nearly choked her.
But John didn't dare to mention this. He knew Mason was very fond of Isabella. If he revealed this, his other leg might end up broken too.
