Chapter 30
Isabella had no clue that Jasper's suicide was just an act. The whole point was to make her feel guilty enough to cave into her parents' demands.
'I used to believe that no matter how much I was wronged outside, my parents would always be my home. Now it seems I have no home.' Isabella thought, feeling hopeless.
She stumbled out of the Taylor Villa and right into someone's arms.
"What's wrong? Why do you look so pale?" Michael asked, looking down at her with concern.
Tears filled Isabella's eyes as she looked up at Michael and whispered, "I have no home; they're pushing me to the edge."
Michael's brows knitted together. He gently wiped her tears with his fingers, looking at her with compassion.
"Let's talk in the car," he said, helping her inside.
"What happened? Tell me. I'm your husband; I deserve to know," Michael said seriously, looking at her.
Isabella sat in the passenger seat, her eyes unfocused, staring blankly at the windshield. Michael waited patiently. After a long silence, Isabella finally spoke.
"Michael, let's get a divorce," she said slowly, looking into his eyes.
Michael felt a sharp pang in his heart, but he didn't show it. Instead, he continued to look at her with tenderness.
"What happened? You can tell me," he said, gently wiping away her tears.
"They're threatening me with suicide, forcing me to divorce you and marry John. I told them John wanted me dead, but they didn't believe me. They even said that if I die, it has nothing to do with them." Isabella collapsed onto Michael, crying loudly.
Michael's sharp gaze shifted to the Taylor Villa.
Inside, Jasper and Mia suddenly felt a chill, as if some terrifying presence was targeting them.
"What's going on? Why do I suddenly have a bad feeling?" Mia shivered, looking around anxiously.
Jasper swallowed nervously and tried to stay calm. "What could happen? We're about to become the in-laws of the Williams Family. Who in this city would dare to harm us?"
Suddenly, the pressure around them disappeared.
Jasper breathed a sigh of relief. "See, nothing happened. We were just overthinking it."
What they didn't know was that the pressure disappeared because Michael drove away.
"Where are you taking me?" Isabella asked, looking out the car window at the unfamiliar surroundings.
Michael smiled. "You said you have no home, right? I'm taking you to a new one."
He didn't say more, and Isabella had to suppress her curiosity until they reached their destination. When they arrived, a man in a suit ran over respectfully.
"Are you Mr. Williams and Ms. Taylor?" the man asked politely.
Michael nodded. "Yes. Is the house ready?"
The man in the suit nodded quickly and pointed to a mansion that was three times bigger than the Taylor Villa. "This is the house I prepared for you."
Isabella's jaw dropped when she saw the mansion. She turned to Michael, completely stunned.
"What do you mean by this? What do you mean by a house prepared for us?" she asked, still in shock.
Michael took her hand and walked into the mansion with the man in the suit.
"I actually prepared this house. I was planning to tell you after all the furniture was moved in a few days, but since you said you have no home, I'll give you a new one," Michael said with a smile.
"Wait, are you saying this house is for me?" Isabella asked, hardly believing her ears.
Michael nodded seriously, and the man in the suit handed the keys to Isabella.
"Ms. Taylor, these are the keys to this mansion. Mr. Williams has already paid for the house," he said with a smile.
"Wait, this mansion must cost at least tens of millions of dollars. Where did you get so much money?" Isabella asked, feeling like she was dreaming.
Michael shrugged. "You may not believe it, but I won several hundred million dollars in the lottery! I found that my luck improved a lot after marrying you. You're probably my lucky charm."
Isabella still couldn't wrap her head around it.
"I hope you understand, but I can't accept this. It's too much," she said, trying to hand the keys back to Michael. His sudden generosity was overwhelming.
Michael waved his hand, and the man in the suit tactfully left the mansion.
Michael looked at Isabella, then suddenly squatted down to look her in the eyes. "Although we are just contractually married, let me take care of you, okay? I want to give you the best home ever."
Michael's sincere expression left Isabella speechless. For the first time, she felt truly cared for by a man. Even Jasper had never made her feel this way.
Tears welled up in her eyes again as she hugged Michael and cried loudly in his arms.
Michael held her tightly. He knew that after being betrayed by her family, Isabella was teetering on the edge.
Crying was the best way for her to vent, and Michael, like a family member, was the best person for her to turn to at that moment.
"I know you are very good to me. Thank you for everything you have done for me, but I really can't watch my parents die," Isabella cried, torn between the kind Michael and her parents who raised her, caught in a difficult decision.
Just then, someone burst into the mansion, shouting as soon as they entered.
"Michael, what's going on? I haven't even moved the furniture you mentioned. Why are you suddenly moving?" Benjamin walked in and was stunned to see the two hugging.
When Isabella saw Benjamin, she stopped crying. She didn't understand why he was there.
Feeling Michael's intense gaze, Benjamin shuddered and awkwardly said, "Sorry to bother you, I was just passing by."
