Chapter 173
Glenn Cole was an intern reporter at the newspaper, and his editor had sent him out to cover a story. He thought it might be something big, but to his dismay, it turned out to be just a couple griping about their daughter-pretty much the kind of boring stuff they always dumped on interns like him.
But now, Glenn was buzzing with excitement. Because earlier, Dwayne had called him and a few other reporters into the company building, where they caught Bianca on camera, apologizing.
Glenn knew all about the beef between Bianca and Isabella. The plagiarism scandal had just started to die down, but people still remembered it. And with Isabella being so popular right now, Bianca's apology was bound to make waves.
"Reporters, you should have recorded my cousin's apology. Please make sure to show her in a good light, as her apology is sincere," Isabella said, sounding like she was trying to be nice but really just making Bianca squirm.
"Don't worry, Ms. Taylor. We're professionals, and we'll report this accurately," Glenn replied with a polished smile.
"Alright, since the apology is over, everyone please get back to your work. Bianca, since you're done with your apology, please leave the company. These reporters might have some questions for you, but to avoid further disruption, please answer them outside," Isabella said, dismissing the employees with a smile directed at Bianca.
Bianca didn't dare show any anger in front of the reporters. She kept her head down and quickly bolted out of the building.
"A post-kidney transplant patient with uremia running that fast-she's not even trying to hide it," Isabella muttered, rolling her eyes.
Isabella's voice was so low that the surrounding reporters didn't catch it. They were all focused on Bianca. After she left, the reporters said their goodbyes to Isabella and chased after her.
Among the reporters, Glenn was the fastest. He was the first to catch up to Bianca, shoving his microphone in her face and asking, "Ms. Taylor, was your apology sincere?"
Other reporters quickly crowded around her.
"Ms. Taylor, why did you choose to apologize when your cousin is in the middle of a media storm? Is there any special reason?"
"Ms. Taylor, do you really have a good relationship with your cousin?"
Bianca clenched her fists, clearly fed up with the reporters. She grabbed her hair and screamed, "Get away from me! All of you, get lost!"
As she screamed, she flailed her arms wildly. The reporters dodged, and she took the chance to dash to a nearby taxi, urging the driver to take off quickly.
As the taxi sped away, a grin spread across Glenn's face. His newspaper would definitely have a headline-grabbing story today.
Meanwhile, in Dwayne's office, Madeline and Isabella stood in front of him.
"Isabella, I get where you're coming from, but next time, run these things by me first," Dwayne sighed. This whole mess was going to need some serious damage control from the PR team to avoid another scandal.
Isabella smiled and nodded. "I'm sorry, Mr. Larson. I didn't think it through."
Dwayne waved Isabella off but motioned for Madeline to stay.
Once they were alone, Dwayne's expression turned icy.
"Madeline, why did you let Bianca into the company? Don't you know she caused a scandal before?" Dwayne glared at her.
Madeline fidgeted with her fingers and bit her lip, filled with regret. She understood that scheming with Bianca against Isabella should have been kept private, not in the workplace. She hadn't thought about the consequences.
Dwayne stared at her in silence, his anger growing. "Don't tell me you brought her here to apologize. I can see through insincerity. I know what you're planning! Whether it's you or Isabella, anyone endangering the company's interests will face consequences! Take this as a warning. If it occurs again, don't expect leniency from me."
Dwayne finished speaking and slammed the table, the loud noise making Madeline jump.
"Get out." Dwayne waved his hand, dismissing her.
Madeline gritted her teeth and left the office, heading back to the design department.
Odette approached her, asking, "Ms. Eve, how did it go?"
Madeline shot her an angry look. Technically, it was Odette who brought Bianca in, but as her superior, Madeline had to take the heat.
"I hope you'll be smarter next time and not make such a dumb mistake again!" Madeline snapped, glaring at Odette.
Odette shrank back, knowing Madeline was furious.
"Ms. Eve, I've got some news from the other colleagues. I think you'll find it interesting," Odette quickly said.
Madeline gave her a cold look. "What is it? Spit it out."
Odette hurriedly shared the info. "I overheard two colleagues saying they saw Isabella and Mr. Hamilton leaving a hotel together."
Madeline immediately turned to look at Odette. "Are you sure?"
Odette nodded. "That colleague lives near the hotel. He saw it clearly-it was definitely Isabella and Kevin."
Madeline's fists clenched. She'd never bought that Isabella had beaten her fair and square. She'd always suspected something was up between Isabella and Kevin, and now it looked like she'd been right. Things weren't as simple as they seemed.
"Ms. Eve, you're far too talented to have lost to Isabella! It's obvious now - she cheated to get Kevin's favor. Let's expose her and clear your name," Odette said.
