Chapter 403
John had a big meeting today with a VIP client.
Garry Britton, a top dog at the Olympic Committee, was the guy John needed to talk to about a potential partnership.
John, being the savvy businessman he is, knew the Olympics were a goldmine for exposure and ad revenue.
"Mr. Britton, I want to talk to you about my girlfriend's designs for the Olympic uniforms. I really hope you can help us out. The designers she's collaborating with are top-notch and can truly make our athletes stand out at the opening ceremony," John said, his confidence shining through.
There's no such thing as true fairness in this world. John has status, power, and influence-so why should he compete on equal footing with anyone else?
Only the weak beg for fairness because it's their only shot. The strong don't need to, and it would be dumb if they did.
Garry was toying with an antique John had gifted him, something from the 19th century.
It was obvious Garry was into it.
Just as Garry was about to agree, someone walked in and whispered something to him.
Garry's face changed, and he looked at John with a hint of annoyance.
John had a bad feeling, sensing that whatever was coming next involved him.
"I get it, you can leave now," Garry waved off his subordinate.
Turning to John, Garry said, "Mr. Williams, we're good friends. Normally, I'd help out a friend. But this time, it's tricky."
Garry put the antique on the table, signaling John to take it back.
John glanced at it but didn't pick it up. Instead, he smiled and asked, "Mr. Britton, since we're friends, you should tell me what made you misunderstand me."
Garry sighed, shook his head, and said, "Mr. Williams, if you have time, you should go and talk to your girlfriend."
John frowned. He knew Garry was talking about Bianca.
Feeling uneasy, John pulled out his phone and searched for news about Bianca. He found out she had been caught taking unauthorized photos.
John's face darkened.
The Olympics are a huge deal, and everyone involved needs to uphold a positive image. The company designing the athletes' outfits can't afford any scandals. Bianca's actions were like giving their competitors a loaded gun. The Olympic Committee would definitely take this seriously.
Forcing a smile, John said, "Mr. Britton, those photos only show my girlfriend using her phone in the building across the street. They don't prove she was taking unauthorized photos."
John felt more and more embarrassed, lying to cover for Bianca, convinced she was behind the whole mess.
Garry looked John straight in the eye and said, "Mr. Williams, this isn't a joke. The public will ultimately decide how to handle this. If I stick with your girlfriend's designs, it could cost me my job."
Garry's tone made it clear that Bianca's designs were out of the running for the Olympics.
John's face grew darker. The only solution he could think of was to get the PR team to handle the Bianca situation fast. Maybe then they could save face and get her designs back in the game.
Just then, John's phone rang. It was his female bodyguard.
Worried about Bianca, John answered immediately.
After hearing what the bodyguard had to say, John's expression turned even grimmer.
"Bianca, get to the hospital right now. I'll be there soon," John said before hanging up.
As soon as he did, Garry's subordinate walked in again.
The subordinate was about to whisper something to Garry, but Garry, knowing it was about John, told him to speak up.
"Joseph Davis, the heir of the Davis Family, just posted a phone call recording on social media. It's a conversation between him and Bianca. In it, Bianca conspires with Joseph to sabotage Isabella, trying to get her to divorce and marry him instead. But..." Before the subordinate could finish, John cut him off.
"That's enough. I get it," John said, standing up and looking at Garry.
"I'm really sorry, Mr. Britton. Because of my girlfriend's stupidity, I no longer want her involved in this design competition," John said, pointing to the artifact on the table.
"This artifact was a gift to a friend. You keep it. We still have other business to discuss," John said, then turned and walked out of Garry's office.
Garry shrugged, waved for his subordinate to escort John out, then carefully picked up the artifact, examining it.
John was right. Despite Bianca's foolishness, John himself wasn't tainted by it, and there was still potential for them to work together.
"A successful man shouldn't have a foolish woman dragging him down," Garry sighed.
Meanwhile, at Bianca's company, the designers who had been excited about their Olympic designs were furious after seeing the reports about Bianca on social media.
"Damn it, we didn't sign up for this embarrassment!"
"The company's facing a scandal right after starting! Will our designs even sell now?"
"We never should've taken John's offer. Now it's all ruined."
"Bianca clearly isn't cut out for business. I'm quitting, what about you?"
"Count me in, I'm out too. No point sticking around here."
The designers collectively handed in their resignations and walked out of Bianca's company.
