Chapter 50
Isabella was a bit taken aback when she heard Michael was heading upstairs to meet Mason alone.
"Are you sure about this? Should I call Mr. Williams and ask him to wait a bit longer so we can meet your subordinate together?" Isabella still felt uneasy.
Michael shook his head, touched Isabella's face, and said, "I can't keep Mr. Williams waiting any longer. He might think I'm disrespecting him and get upset."
Isabella thought about it and found Michael's reasoning sound.
"Alright then, good luck! By the way, I've been making tea for Mr. Williams and chatting with him before you arrived, hoping to leave a good impression. So he shouldn't dislike you either." Isabella smiled at Michael, having made a lot of preparations for today's meeting.
Feeling touched, Michael gently caressed Isabella's face, nodded, and then walked upstairs.
Not long after Michael went upstairs, another car pulled into the parking lot.
When Isabella saw Pearl and Paxton getting out, she couldn't help but shake her head.
"Why do I keep running into her everywhere I go?" Isabella muttered.
Pearl and Paxton also saw Isabella, and Pearl's face immediately darkened.
"Isabella, you despicable person!" Pearl thought of the humiliation from yesterday and couldn't swallow her pride.
"I'm going to tear your face apart today." Pearl lunged at Isabella, who was already prepared to fight back.
But Isabella didn't need to do anything as Pearl's arm was already pulled back by Paxton.
"Enough, do you even realize where we are? Mr. Williams is still here. Do you want Isabella to go complain to him?" Paxton, with a stern face, pulled Pearl away.
Although Pearl felt resentful, she didn't dare defy Paxton and could only glare fiercely at Isabella.
Paxton smiled at Isabella and said, "Isabella, it's been a long time. How's your father doing?"
Isabella found Paxton's smile disgusting. Although he appeared to be a kind gentleman on the surface, deep down, he was very malicious, like a cunning, hungry wolf.
"My father is doing very well. He hopes to outlive you every day." Isabella's lips curled into a cold smile as she looked mockingly at Paxton.
The smile disappeared from Paxton's face. Everyone knew there was resentment between them, and there was no need to pretend anymore. He couldn't be bothered to deal with Isabella any longer.
"Isabella, I really want to shut that mouth of yours." Pearl clenched her fists and glared fiercely at Isabella.
Isabella looked back at Pearl coldly.
"No need to talk to her anymore. The Taylor Family won't last much longer anyway. Let's go see Mr. Williams first." Paxton grabbed Pearl and headed upstairs.
Isabella furrowed her brows for a moment but then thought their reason for being here would be to apologize to Mason and restore their image.
Isabella wasn't interested in the Brown Family's affairs. She believed Mason would make the right decision. However, to her surprise, Paxton and Pearl were driven away without even seeing Mason.
"Mr. Williams went to the hospital. Please leave," the bodyguard said coldly, shooing Paxton and his daughter away.
Isabella hung around the parking lot for a bit, finally handing the documents to Michael's subordinate, Jerry Nelson.
Worried about Michael, she hurried into the elevator.
As the elevator doors closed and it started going up, another elevator opened. Paxton and Pearl stepped out.
"Dad, that old man Mason clearly doesn't want to see us," Pearl fumed.
Paxton shook his head. "Not necessarily. Let's first find out what happened to the Williams Family and why they had to go to the hospital."
Paxton and Pearl had left, and when Isabella finally arrived at the private room, she found only Michael sitting at the table, with no sign of Mason.
"Where did Mr. Williams go? How did your conversation go?" Isabella asked, puzzled.
Michael smiled bitterly and shook his head. "I didn't even see Mr. Williams. They said he had something urgent and left in a hurry."
Isabella frowned, unsure of what had happened. Suddenly, Michael pulled her into an embrace.
"Thank you for everything you've done for me," Michael said, his voice full of tenderness.
Isabella's face turned red, and her heart started racing.
"What do you want to do to me? This is a hotel," Isabella said nervously, her voice barely above a whisper.
Feeling Isabella's body temperature rising, Michael reassured her, "Don't worry, no one will come in here. We won't be disturbed this time." He then lowered his head and kissed her.
Isabella's eyes widened as she felt her body weaken. Michael's tongue broke through her lips and entered her mouth.
Gradually, Isabella felt herself losing control. She instinctively wrapped her arms around Michael's neck, responding to his kiss. Their tongues intertwined, and saliva dripped from the corners of their mouths.
The hotel room was filled with a restless atmosphere as primal instincts took over. Michael quickly took off his jacket, revealing his muscular body underneath his shirt.
Before coming, Michael had instructed the bodyguard that no one should enter the room, so he believed they wouldn't be interrupted.
The passionate kiss made Isabella feel breathless. Michael's mouth left hers and kissed her neck, his hot breath making her body even hotter. But then, Isabella's body suddenly stiffened. She saw a lipstick mark on the left side of Michael's shirt.
Her rationality returned instantly. She pushed Michael away and pointed at the lipstick mark, questioning, "Why is there a lipstick mark on your shirt? It's not mine because I didn't wear this shade of lipstick. And I noticed something else. There's a familiar scent on you, a scent I seem to have smelled somewhere before."
Isabella suddenly remembered the conflict with Pearl downstairs earlier, and the scent on Michael seemed to match Pearl's.
