Chapter 183
Jasper and Mia woke up not long after they got there. They'd been pretending to be out cold, which fooled the clueless bystanders but not the doctors.
In the hospital room, Jasper and Mia sat quietly on their beds.
"So, what now?" Mia asked, glancing at Jasper.
Jasper frowned, thinking for a bit before saying, "Let's call Bianca. Maybe she can figure out a way to get us out of here."
Mia's face fell. "You really think she can help? Our contracts with her are already out in the open. There's no way John will still back her."
"Got a better plan? We have to try," Jasper snapped, shooting Mia a look.
With a sigh, Mia dialed Bianca's number.
After a couple of rings, Bianca's raspy voice came through. "Why are you calling me?"
Mia quickly explained their need to leave the hospital.
Bianca let out a cold laugh. "You've got some nerve asking for my help. If I hadn't trusted you, I wouldn't be in this mess! John's been blowing up my phone, and I can't even answer! Don't call me again; I can't do anything for you."
With that, Bianca hung up. When Mia tried calling back, she found her number was blocked.
"That witch is just as bad as Isabella. We never should've trusted her!" Jasper fumed, slamming his fist on the bed.
Mia's face was sour. She walked over to the window, lifting the curtain slightly to see a crowd gathered below.
A bunch of angry people in the crowd were waving signs with their faces, all splattered with red paint. They were clearly out for blood after Mia and Jasper cheated them.
With that mob outside, Jasper and Mia didn't dare leave the hospital.
Meanwhile, Bianca wasn't doing much better. After Isabella exposed the contract, Bianca had quickly left her home.
Now, she was hiding out in a small cabin in the countryside, a place John had bought during one of their hunting trips.
John had so many properties he probably didn't even remember this one. But Bianca had turned it into a little getaway spot because of its great location.
Bianca didn't dare go home, knowing it would be swarmed with people.
Just then, her phone rang. Seeing the caller ID, she quickly picked up.
As soon as she answered, a stream of insults came through. "You're a complete idiot! Look at the mess you've made! I told you Mason wouldn't last long. Once he dies, you could marry John. But you just had to let your jealousy get the better of you and mess with Isabella. Now, you've blown your chance to join the Williams Family!"
Bianca went pale from the scolding. Clenching her phone tightly, she snapped back, "So what if Isabella got me this time? John still loves me. I still have a chance!"
"You've got no chance left. Turn on the TV and watch the latest news. See what Mason told the reporters!" The caller hung up, clearly pissed.
Bianca felt a wave of dread. She quickly opened her laptop to check the news. Soon, a headline caught her eye.
#Retired Mason Reappears to Hold a Press Conference.
Bianca clicked on the headline, and what she saw made her face go white.
Supported by Charles, Mason stood before the cameras, looking serious. "In front of all the media, I am making this declaration: If John wants to inherit my estate, he absolutely cannot marry that vile woman, Bianca! This will be written into my will!"
Bianca slammed the laptop shut, trembling. Mason's statement had just made the public outrage even worse.
His message was clear: if John married Bianca, he'd lose his spot as the family heir. Without that title, John would be stripped of everything by the family, ending up with nothing.
Bianca quickly redialed the previous number.
This time, when the call connected, the other end was silent. Bianca immediately said, "I know I messed up. Is there any way to fix this? I can't lose John, and he can't lose his status as the heir."
A cold laugh came from the other end. "Now you're scared? Why didn't you listen to me before?"
Bianca screamed into the phone, "Stop blaming me! We need to figure out how to fix this mess. Or else you'll never get what you want!"
There was a brief silence before the voice on the other end replied, "Don't worry. Even though Mason said that, it's not like he can just make it happen. The Williams family only has John as an heir. Mason can't just pop out another son. So unless John's dad has another kid, John's still the heir."
Bianca sighed in relief at the analysis. Indeed, Mason had no other choice. He had only one grandson, John, unless he wanted to hand the family over to his long-lost brother.
"What should I do next? I don't even dare to answer John's calls. What should I tell him?" Bianca asked.
The other end laughed coldly. "John has always trusted you. Just pin it all on Jasper and Mia. Tell John you were just their pawn."
