Chapter 391
Juliet was totally caught off guard when Isabella mentioned giving her the next endorsement. She took a step back, hands flailing nervously.
"No way, Ms. Taylor! I'm not as pretty as you, and I'm super nervous. I'd probably mess up the company's image," Juliet stammered, feeling sweat bead on her forehead.
Isabella chuckled and gave Juliet a playful tap on the forehead. "I was just messing with you. Why'd you take it so seriously?"
Juliet let out a sigh of relief, wiping the cold sweat from her brow. "You really scared me, Ms. Taylor. I thought you were serious."
Then Juliet noticed Isabella giving her a once-over, which piqued her curiosity.
"What's up, Ms. Taylor? Do I have something on my face?" Juliet asked, touching her face instinctively.
Isabella smiled. "Actually, you're not bad-looking at all. And you just graduated, so you've got that fresh, youthful vibe. Our company's clothing is for all ages. Plus, you look like you work out regularly; you seem really healthy."
Juliet blushed at the compliment.
"Ms. Taylor, you're too kind. But yeah, I do work out regularly. Staying healthy means fewer hospital bills," Juliet joked.
Isabella, however, got serious. "Remember our company is gearing up for the Olympic clothing design competition?"
Juliet nodded. "Yeah, I remember."
Isabella circled around her. "Your look and vibe are perfect for young athletes. When I finish the designs, you should model them."
Juliet's eyes widened in surprise, her face turning red.
Just as she was about to refuse, Isabella cut her off.
"Don't say no. Do you know how hard it is to find someone who fits the image? And the best part, you're doing it for free!" Isabella joked.
Juliet laughed along.
Meanwhile, the photographer started selecting and editing the photos. Once they were ready, the company printed a batch of magazines to distribute to various departments.
Employees were shocked and amazed as they flipped through the new magazines.
"Wow, this time the spokesperson is Ms. Taylor!"
"Ms. Taylor looks stunning! Our designs suit her perfectly."
"But aren't endorsements usually for famous celebrities? Will Ms. Taylor bring fame to the product?"
"Ms. Taylor's popularity is pretty high now."
Employees had mixed reactions-some were puzzled, some loved it, and some mocked. A few even secretly passed the magazine to Bianca.
In Bianca's office, the magazine was torn to shreds, pieces falling like confetti.
Bianca ripped the magazine she had just received into pieces, then angrily swept everything off her desk.
"Damn it, Isabella, you liar! You never planned to sign Estella!" Bianca screamed, her eyes red with rage.
Bianca's assistant, Daphne, stood quietly beside a potted plant, hoping to blend in.
'Please don't notice me. Please don't take your anger out on me,' Daphne silently prayed, keeping her head down.
Bianca was fuming, realizing she had fallen into Isabella's trap. Isabella never intended to sign Estella; she planned to endorse the company herself from the start. The $80 million endorsement fee was just a ploy to get Bianca to cough up $100 million.
Even though the $100 million came from John, Bianca felt sick to her stomach. It meant she had lost to Isabella again.
Just then, the office door swung open, and John walked in. Seeing the mess, his brows knitted together.
"What's going on? Getting this worked up isn't good for the baby," John said, guiding Bianca back to her chair.
The moment John entered, Bianca's expression shifted from anger to sorrow.
"My love, I'm so stupid. I got played by Isabella! She never planned to have Estella as the spokesperson," Bianca cried, clinging to John.
Daphne, hiding nearby, couldn't help but think, 'Wow, she's really good at this. She should be an actress.'
John was confused, having just returned and not knowing what was up. Then he saw the torn magazine pieces on the table, with Isabella looking powerful and elegant in various outfits.
John quickly pieced it together. "So, you found out about Isabella's endorsement fee and got tricked? And you didn't expect my grandfather to be involved."
Bianca quickly defended herself, "I wasn't trying to compete with her. I just didn't want her to get mixed up with shady celebrities."
Daphne felt nauseous, never expecting that watching someone act could be so gross.
Even John was having a hard time with it.
"Alright, enough. You don't need to explain. Let's be real. There's no rule against signing another company's spokesperson first in business competition," John said, rolling his eyes and waving at Daphne.
"Get the janitor to clean this up," John ordered.
Daphne nodded and quickly left the office. She couldn't stand being there any longer. Bianca was just too much.
Seeing through Bianca's act, John decided to cut to the chase. "You said it yourself, this is normal business competition. As long as she hasn't signed with Estella, then I have a chance. I just didn't expect her to scheme against me."
"She schemed against you, but that's part of the game. No one is to blame. We just have to win the next round," John said, patting Bianca's belly.
"Even though it cost a lot to sign Estella, we can use her influence to boost our company's visibility. Think of it as spending a billion dollars on advertising," John reassured Bianca.
