Chapter 339
The guy hung up right after saying that, and when Bianca tried calling back, it just wouldn't go through.
Now, Bianca had no choice but to rely on him.
As soon as Bianca ended the call, Brenda walked in.
"Done with the call? Can we talk about what's next now?" Brenda asked.
Bianca took a deep breath and looked at Brenda. "I'm not owning up to anything yet because I believe I can get out of this."
Brenda chuckled, clearly annoyed, and gave Bianca a cold stare. "I really don't get what you're holding on to. Do you think anyone other than John will save you?"
Bianca just snorted and stayed quiet.
Brenda snatched the phone from Bianca's hand and sat back down. She'd dealt with plenty of criminals who refused to admit their mistakes, and she was sure she'd get Bianca to talk.
Just as Brenda was about to keep questioning her, someone walked in and whispered something in her ear.
Brenda frowned a bit. "Even now, John still can't believe it?"
When Bianca heard John's name, she looked up, a flicker of hope in her eyes.
Seeing Bianca's expression, Brenda immediately knew what she was thinking.
"Bianca, don't get your hopes up. John's not here to save you. Remember what he said about the medical team? He's here to see if you're a match for Isabella's kidney donation," Brenda said, crushing Bianca's hope.
Of course, Bianca knew she wasn't a match for Isabella's kidney. John was just here for answers.
"Can I refuse this test?" Bianca asked, a bitter smile on her pale face.
Brenda looked at Bianca, her eyes showing no sympathy. Despite Bianca's meek appearance, anyone who knew her deeds would see her as malicious.
Brenda shook her head coldly. "You know you can't refuse, and neither can I."
Brenda stood up, opened the door to the interrogation room, and the medical team outside came in to collect samples from Bianca.
Bianca didn't resist; she knew it was pointless. She was like a puppet, letting the medical staff run their tests and then watching them leave with the samples.
After the medical staff left, Brenda asked Bianca again, "Do you want to talk now or wait for the test results?"
A faint smile appeared on Bianca's pale face. "Let's wait for the test results."
"Testing my patience, huh? Fine, we'll wait," Brenda snorted and stood up from her chair. If Bianca wanted to wait for the test results, she didn't mind waiting another day.
Meanwhile, Michael was busy in the kitchen. He was about to celebrate with Isabella today, so he bought a bunch of fresh ingredients to whip up a feast.
Just then, Michael's phone rang. He glanced at the screen and saw it was Mike calling.
Michael picked up, and Mike immediately shared some good news.
"Mr. Williams, Bianca made a call. The number's owner has been dead for years, but we're tracking the signal and should have results soon," Mike said, sounding excited.
Michael rolled his eyes. "You know which characters mess up the most in movies?"
Mike, confused, asked, "I don't know. Mr. Williams, you know I don't watch movies much."
Michael rolled his eyes again and placed a king crab into the steamer. "According to movie logic, don't celebrate before you have results. Being too happy too early leads to bad outcomes! Do you get it? You haven't even tracked down where they are, and you're already giving me good news? So the biggest possibility is that you either find nothing or the results you get are wrong."
"Never heard of this," Mike replied, shocked.
Michael sneered, "If you don't believe it, let's see."
With that, Michael hung up the phone. He had a feeling things wouldn't go smoothly this time.
Sure enough, when Mike and his team rushed to the address where the signal was coming from, they found it was Bianca's parents' house.
And they discovered that Bianca's father, Dexter Taylor, had just committed suicide by shooting himself. Next to him was the phone used to call Bianca.
"Damn it, we're late again!" Mike almost jumped in anger.
Last time, they were late, and the journalist was killed, finding nothing. This time was the same. Although the evidence pointed to Dexter's death as a suicide, Mike and his team suspected there was more to the story.
Mike took a deep breath, opened Dexter's phone, and played a video inside.
The video seemed to have just been recorded, with Dexter still alive but looking very solemn.
"Bianca, my daughter. As a father, I'm sorry. I shouldn't have forced you to do things you didn't want to do. It's ridiculous to think about it now. Since Jasper got the family inheritance, I've been jealous and wanted everything back. I made you fake illness to frame your sister and used my authority as your father to threaten you. I know you won't forgive me no matter what I say. I just hope this video before my death can help you. Goodbye, my dear daughter, I hope you and your mother can live well."
The video ended with Dexter's confession and him putting the gun in his mouth.
Mike narrowed his eyes, ready to delete the video. It would greatly help Bianca and reduce her guilt, which Michael didn't want.
But at that moment, the door was kicked open, and a group of police officers rushed in.
