Chapter 220
After sending Jerry off to investigate, Michael started thinking about who could be behind all this. His mind raced through a list of suspects, including members of the top four families.
Just then, Michael got a call from Mason, asking him to come to the hospital to discuss something important.
"What does Mason want with me at this hour?" Michael narrowed his eyes, feeling like this could be tied to Odette's murder. It might also involve Isabella, so he had to stay on top of it. Without wasting a moment, he drove straight to Mason's hospital.
Meanwhile, John was released from the police station by his lawyer. He was fuming. Luckily, he had an alibi, so the police couldn't hold him. But when he saw the online speculation about the case, he nearly lost it.
"These idiots! Do they think I can't find out who they are just because they're hiding behind screens? Accusing me of murder-I'll track them down and make them pay!" John angrily threw his phone.
His bodyguard, used to this routine, picked up the phone. As the heir to a powerful family, John's phone contained too many secrets to lose.
'Is this what rich people do? Throw their phones when they're upset? They act like money grows on trees,' the bodyguard thought to himself.
John got back into the car, planning to find Bianca. But then he got a call from Mason, asking him to come to the hospital.
John hesitated for a moment. Since Mason had been hospitalized after their last heated argument, John hadn't visited him. Maybe now was a good time, especially since Mason was reaching out.
John told the driver to head to the hospital run by the Williams family.
When John arrived at Mason's ward, he was surprised to see his uncle Michael already there.
Michael looked up at John and gave a slight nod.
Mason lay in bed, with John and Michael standing on either side.
"You've both seen the news about the murder, right? What do you think?" Mason asked.
Michael was silent for a moment before saying, "I've been busy, so I only learned about it today and briefly checked the story online. Honestly, I don't think Isabella would do such a thing. She already found evidence against Madeline and Odette-they're facing prison. Isabella has no reason to take such drastic measures."
"Michael, do you think Bianca did it?" John asked coldly.
Michael frowned, and Mason also looked at John.
"If it's not her, could it be you, Mr. Williams?" Mason asked with a hint of irony.
John's face stayed blank. "Grandpa, this isn't the time for jokes. I know you both suspect Bianca. Sure, she seems to have a motive since Odette accused Madeline and her of conspiring. But think about it. Does Bianca really need to do this? Ever since the mess with Jasper and Mia, her name's been mud. She gets hate every day. It can't possibly get any worse than this."
Mason lowered his head, eventually nodding. John had a point; Bianca had no reason to do this.
"Do you really think Isabella did this out of spite?" Michael asked calmly.
John sneered, "I don't think Isabella's got the guts, but what about her husband? The man who has never shown his face!"
Mason frowned and instinctively looked at Michael, but Michael's expression stayed the same.
"You suspect Isabella's husband?" Michael asked.
"Yes. And it's not just me. Remember Pearl? Paxton thinks Isabella's husband did that to her. If that's true, then Isabella's husband is a creepy killer! Pearl was left in that horrible state because she kidnapped Isabella. And now Madeline and Odette-one went mad, and the other ended up dead-because they falsely accused Isabella," John analyzed, his face serious.
Mason looked at John with displeasure. "If we follow your logic, then why are Jasper and Mia unharmed?"
John sneered, "They're unharmed for now. Maybe there were assassins in the crowd outside the hospital, but Jasper and Mia were cunning and called the police for protection. Or maybe the man spared them because they're Isabella's parents."
Michael stared silently at John, who had painted him as a total psycho. 'If I were really like you say, the first ones I'd take out would be you and Bianca,' he thought to himself.
"You make a compelling argument. So, what do you plan to do next?" Michael asked calmly.
Mason also looked at John, waiting for his answer.
John smiled. "I plan to help Bianca with her public relations, clear her name, and then guide public attention towards Isabella."
"What? Why would you harm an innocent person?" Mason shouted angrily at John.
A cold glint flashed in Michael's eyes. Maybe it wouldn't be such a bad idea to get rid of this guy; he was always stirring up trouble for his wife.
John didn't notice Michael's expression, and he no longer feared Mason.
"Grandpa, if you think Isabella is innocent, what about Bianca? Isn't she innocent too? This is a dead end for now. All I can do is try to clear Bianca's name for the time being. I don't care if it hurts Isabella. What I need to do is get Bianca in charge of the Taylor Family. It's also my way of securing a fallback," John said, turning to leave.
"That damn little brat is trying to drive me crazy, isn't he?" Mason fumed, his anger triggering a violent coughing fit.
Michael quickly called for a doctor to check on Mason.
Meanwhile, a thought formed in Michael's mind. 'If we can find out who killed Odette, maybe we can pin the Pearl case on them too. If I play my cards right, it'll create a rift between Paxton and those guys. Not only could we catch the killer, but we might also uncover that mysterious force and weaken Paxton's grip at the same time.'
Michael's eyes narrowed again as another thought crossed his mind. John was planning to help Bianca take over the Taylor family, and that would be another headache for Isabella. He needed to step in and fix this for her.
