Chapter 218

After Bianca finished watching the news, her face went pale. She never thought Odette, who Madeline trusted so much, would stab them in the back!

'That idiot! She's such a fool!' Bianca fumed silently, cursing both Madeline and Odette.

Seeing Bianca's pale face and silence, John knew the news had to be true.

"Why did you do this? When did you become so cruel?" John grabbed Bianca by the shoulders, shaking her, his voice a mix of anger and desperation.

Bianca's mind raced for an explanation. She looked at John, tears streaming down her face. "I had no idea I was being used by Madeline! She asked me to contact the competition organizers, but I didn't know she planned to bribe them."

"Why did you contact Madeline in the first place? You two shouldn't have any connection," John said coldly, his eyes piercing into hers.

"Remember when I went to their company to apologize to Isabella? I reached out to Madeline, hoping she could help me get in. She agreed, and I thought she was being kind. I had no idea she was using me all along," Bianca cried out.

John frowned. Whenever Bianca was involved, she managed to shift the blame onto someone else. Too many coincidences made him suspicious.

"I'll ask Madeline about this. I hope you're not lying to me this time," John said coldly before turning and leaving Bianca's house.

After John left, Bianca, trembling, picked up her phone and dialed a number.

"You have to help me! John went to confront Madeline. If she spills about our plan, my image with John will be completely ruined!" Bianca said, her voice frantic.

The voice on the other end scoffed, "That's the downside of building an image! It can bring you short-term benefits, but when it collapses, it's like a tower of sand, easily washed away."

"Now is not the time for your lectures!" Bianca screamed, her anger boiling over.

The voice on the other end screamed back, even more furious. "Not now? Then, when? After you screw things up again? You idiot! Do you even realize how many times you've gone ahead with your stupid plans without my approval? Have any of them ever worked? All you've done is create more mess for us!"

Bianca, thoroughly chastised, broke down in tears. "I really know I was wrong. From now on, I'll follow your instructions completely! Please, just help me this time!"

The other end of the line fell silent, and Bianca waited nervously.

Finally, a cold voice came through. "This is the last time! If there's a next time, you'll never be with John again."

The call ended abruptly, and Bianca sighed in relief. As long as that person helped her, she would get through this crisis.

Meanwhile, John called the police station and then drove there, determined to get to the bottom of things with Madeline.

The officer who received John looked a bit embarrassed.

"Mr. Williams, I'm sorry. Madeline's lost it and might not be able to answer your questions," the officer said, looking troubled.

John frowned. "Let me see Madeline. I'll decide for myself if she's really lost it."

The officer had no choice but to take John to the interrogation room.

When the door to the interrogation room opened, John was stunned by what he saw.

Madeline was slumped over the table, her wrists bleeding from rubbing against the handcuffs. Her hair was a wild mess, her face twisted in a grotesque expression, eyes vacant, and drool dripped from the corner of her mouth.

"You're all bastards! You all deserve to burn in hell! I'm the smartest person in the world! I just needed a chance! Damn it, why wasn't I born into one of the top four families? I'm prettier than Isabella, more talented than her, why? Yes! I am Isabella! I'm the most famous woman, my fiancé is John! The heir to the Williams Family is my husband! I am Isabella!" Madeline ranted, jumping on the chair like a deranged monkey, her mind clearly shattered.

The officer looked at John, who was standing at the door, unwilling to go in, with a hint of mockery in his eyes.

"Mr. Williams, are you still going in?" the officer asked tentatively from behind.

John hesitated, took a step inside, and asked Madeline, "Madeline, why did you harm Isabella? What deal do you have with Bianca?"

Madeline tilted her head and looked at John, suddenly breaking into a happy smile.

"John, it's me, I'm Isabella! I'm the design director of Luminous Beauty! I'm your fiancée. When are we getting married? Let's get married now! What are you waiting for? Let's go see Mason together!" Madeline excitedly rushed towards John but was restrained by the handcuffs.

"Save me, darling! I'm your fiancée, and I'm not just some nobody. You can get me out of this damn place, right?" Madeline screamed crazily at John.

John clenched his fists, realizing that Madeline was truly insane. She belonged in a mental hospital, not a police station.

"Send her to a mental hospital for treatment," John ordered, leaving the interrogation room. Even as he walked away, Madeline's hysterical screams echoed behind him.

"John! My fiancé, where are you going? Get me out of here. I don't want to stay here. It's so cold. I'm so scared!" Madeline shouted.

After leaving the police station, John got into his car and decided to visit Odette at the hospital. Despite Odette's betrayal of Madeline, she had been someone Madeline trusted and likely knew the details of the deal between Bianca and Madeline.

At that moment, Odette was in the hospital, receiving an IV due to the shock she had experienced.

In the empty hospital corridor, a figure in a nurse's uniform quietly entered Odette's ward. While Odette slept soundly, the nurse surreptitiously added something to her IV drip. The nurse then vanished as quickly and quietly as she'd arrived, leaving no sign of her visit.
