Chapter 206

Michael was pretty stoked about what Isabella did. He'd been ticked off with John for ages. Even if Isabella hadn't stepped in, he would've. But honestly, Michael thought just smashing a bottle over John's head was too easy; John deserved to have his legs broken, just like Isabella suggested.

Jerry, who was behind the wheel, couldn't help but smirk. 'If the Williamses weren't loaded, they'd be the biggest crooks around,' he thought.

But then, Michael's laughter cut off, and he looked annoyed.

"Wait a sec, what did Leo say? Isabella got the info from Joseph? Why's that guy even calling her?" Michael's voice was low, like a brewing storm.

Jerry rolled his eyes discreetly. "Mr. Williams, you gotta have faith in Mrs. Williams. Even if Joseph's got other ideas, she wouldn't go for it."

"No need to remind me. I trust Isabella," Michael said, rolling his eyes. But then something clicked in his mind.

"Didn't I tell you to dig into Joseph? Got anything yet?" Michael asked, frowning.

Jerry silently grumbled to himself, 'I'm drowning! Dealing with your fake wife, running the company, this mess, plus hiring detectives? Give me a break!'

On the outside, Jerry kept his cool. "I've got some leads and I'm checking them out. We should have news soon."

Just as Jerry finished talking, his phone buzzed with an email.

Jerry glanced at it, looking surprised.

Michael noticed and asked, "What's up? What happened?"

Jerry pointed to his phone, grinning. "This email's probably about Joseph. Just came in. Wanna see it?"

"Of course," Michael said, leaning forward to grab Jerry's phone and open the email.

As he read through it, Michael's brow furrowed.

Jerry watched Michael's face change in the rearview mirror, getting curious. He wanted to know what the email said too.

"Eyes on the road. If you wanna know what's in the email, I'll read it to you," Michael said, glaring at Jerry.

Jerry quickly straightened up and focused on driving.

"The email says Joseph and Isabella met when they were eight. Later, Isabella went abroad to study design. That same year, Joseph also went abroad to study. Coincidentally, they were in the same country, and their universities were super close. But according to their roommates, they never seemed to have met," Michael read from the email.

Jerry was shocked. "So much in common, yet they never met?"

Michael grinned. "Guess it means they weren't meant to meet. Isabella's meant for me and me alone!"

Jerry used to dig Michael's bossy vibe, but now that grin of his gave him the creeps.

Of course, Jerry kept his thoughts to himself. He didn't want Michael dumping more work on him. The pay was good, but no time off? Forget it!

'I really need a vacation,' Jerry thought to himself.

At the hospital, Mason was about to get some rest when Charles walked in, looking a bit amused as he recounted Isabella's yacht incident with John.

Mason was taken aback for a moment, then shook his head with a wry smile. "It would be great if Isabella were really my granddaughter."

Mason wasn't too worried about John. If John could be taken down by Isabella that easily, he wasn't worth keeping around.

"Send someone to warn John to stay away from Isabella," Mason said, waving his hand dismissively.

Charles shook his head. "I don't think we need to warn him. According to people on the yacht, Isabella left with a driver-likely arranged by Mr. Williams."

"Michael?" Mason's eyes flickered. He waved his hand, signaling Charles to leave as he wanted to rest.

Meanwhile, Isabella sat in the car after leaving the yacht, still fuming because she really wanted to break John's legs.

Leo, watching Isabella's angry expression in the rearview mirror, couldn't help but smile wryly.

"Ms. Taylor, I know you're really mad, but your safety comes first. You have a husband and friends who care about you," Leo said gently.

Isabella took a deep breath and exhaled slowly. "You're right, Leo. I was just too angry today. But smashing his head did help a lot."

"As long as it helped," Leo said, his mouth twitching slightly.

Soon, Leo brought Isabella back to the company.

"Thanks, Leo. I really appreciate it," Isabella said before getting out of the car. If Leo hadn't grabbed the bat, she might have ended up in the hospital.

"It's nothing, Ms. Taylor. Don't forget, I was a bodyguard before becoming a driver. Compared to those thugs with knives and guns, dealing with a bat is a piece of cake," Leo said with a smile, waving his hand dismissively.

Isabella suddenly remembered that John had thought her husband was a driver. Maybe someone had seen her getting out of Leo's car and told John-that was how it all went wrong.

"Leo, be careful. I'm worried John might try to get back at you," Isabella said, looking at Leo with concern.

Leo smiled and said, "Don't worry, Ms. Taylor. John isn't an idiot. The boss assigned me to you, so I'm kind of his stand-in. John won't cross me unless he wants to break ties with the boss."

Isabella thought about it and agreed with Leo, so she stopped worrying. After their conversation, Isabella went back to the company to finish her work.

Watching Isabella walk away, Leo sighed. "Isabella's a really nice person, and she's got that same kind of charm as Williams. No wonder he fell for her."
