Chapter 459

Benjamin burst into Amelia's company and made a beeline for the elevator, jabbing the button like his life depended on it. He had to find out what kind of mess Amelia was in.

As the elevator climbed, Benjamin's eyes were glued to the floor numbers, his anxiety growing with each passing second.

The elevator stopped midway, and two people got in.

"Did you hear about the guy who stormed the 23rd floor looking for his daughter? Wants money or something," one of them said.

"Yeah, I heard about that. He was drunk and causing a scene. Even the security guards couldn't handle him," the other replied.

"So, what's happening now? If the guards can't deal with him, are they calling the cops?" the first one asked.

The second person shrugged. "No idea, but that floor's off-limits now. The police should be on their way. Poor woman, having such a violent dad."

They got off on the 20th floor, leaving Benjamin even more on edge as the numbers ticked up to 23. 'Amelia, please be okay. Who the hell is this guy? Is he really your dad? If he hurts you, I'll make him pay!' Benjamin thought, his face darkening with anger.

When the elevator doors opened on the 23rd floor, two security guards were waiting. They blocked Benjamin as he tried to step out.

"Sorry, sir, this floor is off-limits right now," one of them said.

Benjamin shoved the guard aside. "Move! I need to find my girlfriend."

Ignoring their protests, he pushed past them, heading straight for Amelia's workspace.

"Amelia, are you okay? I'm here!" he shouted as he burst into her office.

The guards were still trailing behind, but Benjamin's concern for Amelia had him moving too fast for them to keep up. When he finally reached her, he was stunned into silence.

"Amelia, are you alright?" he asked, seeing her unharmed.

Amelia, protected by the female bodyguard Benjamin had hired, looked perfectly fine.

She rolled her eyes. "From the way you sound, do you actually want something to happen to me?"

Benjamin scratched his head, embarrassed. "I heard you were in danger, so I rushed over. I'm just glad you're okay."

Seeing his awkwardness, Amelia's eyes softened with happiness and gratitude.

"I'm really fine, but he might not be," she said, pointing to a middle-aged man on the floor.

The man, disheveled and reeking of booze, was pinned down by a woman, his joints twisted painfully, making him yelp with every move."Ouch, it hurts! Get this damn woman off me!" the man on the ground yelled.

Benjamin let out a sigh of relief when he saw the woman pinning the guy down was the female bodyguard he had hired.

To make it easier for the two female bodyguards to protect Amelia, Benjamin had arranged for them to join the company as her colleagues.

Earlier in the elevator, Benjamin had heard that even the security guards couldn't handle the drunk guy. This made him worry about Amelia's safety, forgetting that the bodyguards he hired were way tougher than the security guards.

"Is that guy really your dad? What's going on?" Benjamin asked, puzzled, standing next to Amelia.

Amelia's eyes darkened. "Yeah, that's my dad, Daniel Martinez. Since I was born, he's been abusing my mom, drinking, and gambling. He wrecked our family's finances. Now he heard I have a wealthy boyfriend and wants money from me. I used the money to treat my mom's illness. How can I give it to him for drinking and gambling?"

Benjamin frowned, his face darkening. No wonder Amelia never wanted to talk about Daniel. The guy was a total jerk.

"Have I not taken care of you all these years? I'm your dad, what's wrong with asking you for some money?" Daniel, lying on the ground, shouted angrily.

Amelia's eyes turned red as she glared at Daniel. "You not only hit my mom, but you also hit me. Besides drinking, how much of your meager salary was left for us? My mom got seriously ill because of you, and she was beaten by debt collectors! We moved to another city to get away from you. Why did you come here?"

"I'm your dad, that's something you can never change," Daniel laughed maniacally.

Benjamin's gaze grew darker, hating this jerk more than ever.

Approaching Daniel, Benjamin looked at him coldly. "I'm your daughter's boyfriend, and yes, I am wealthy. But I will never give my money to scum like you! If you dare to touch my girlfriend, you'll regret ever being born."

Daniel was unfazed by Benjamin's threat. Even though Benjamin was furious, Daniel, being drunk, didn't care.

Licking his lips, Daniel smirked, "You've had sex with my daughter, right? Then you should pay me for it! I've always wanted to sell her for a good price. Those cheap places offering sexual services aren't worthy of her; only wealthy people like you are."

Benjamin stood up and kicked Daniel hard in the head. However, Daniel's head was tough, and Benjamin wasn't much of a fighter. The kick only caused Daniel some pain without any real effect.

"Kicking him like that won't work; you have to hit his weakest spot," Michael's voice came from behind, followed by a swift kick to Daniel's groin.
