Chapter 82

A plane touched down in Seraphim, landing at Sunrise City Airport.

After more than ten hours in the air, Isabella felt like her whole body was stiff. She stretched as she got off the plane, feeling her joints pop.

"Is this where you live? The air is so fresh," Isabella said, spreading her arms and taking a deep breath.

Michael smiled, carried the suitcase over, and hugged Isabella. "Yep, lots of trees around here, so the air's great. Come on, my dad sent someone to pick us up."

Michael suddenly noticed Isabella's hands shaking and stopped, looking at her puzzled.

"Did we bring enough gifts? Will your dad like them?" Isabella asked, looking worried.

Michael chuckled, knowing she was nervous. Ever since they left home, Isabella had been obsessing over what to bring for Kenna. When Michael saw her list, his eyes nearly popped out.

If they bought everything on Isabella's list for Kenna, they'd need a whole other plane to get it all here.

"Don't stress. My dad's super chill. Even if you didn't bring anything, he'd be happy. Remember what I told you? What he really wants is a grandson," Michael whispered to her.

Isabella's face and ears turned bright red. She shot Michael a playful glare and quickly walked towards the airport exit.

Michael grinned and followed her.

As they stepped outside, Isabella looked around and asked, "Where's the person who's supposed to pick us up?"

Michael frowned, scanning the area. He didn't see the familiar driver or car.

Just as he was about to call and check, a red and a blue sports car pulled up.

The cars stopped at the entrance, and a man and a woman got out of each one.

When Michael saw them, his frown deepened.

"Michael, it's been ages!" the woman said, opening her arms for a hug.

Michael stepped back, hiding behind Isabella, and then nudged her forward into the woman's arms.

The woman realized something was off and opened her eyes to see she had hugged the wrong person. A flash of embarrassment and annoyance crossed her face, but then she noticed the ring on Isabella's finger.

Isabella sensed the sudden hostility from the woman. Though confused, she politely introduced herself.

"Hi, I'm Isabella, Michael's new wife," she said, extending her hand.

The woman shook her hand and replied, "Hi, I'm Scarlett Ramirez, Michael's friend. We grew up together. His dad, Kenna, always joked about us getting married. I didn't expect him to come back married after just one trip abroad."

Isabella immediately understood why Scarlett was giving her the cold shoulder. Scarlett thought Isabella had stolen her destined husband.

A smile tugged at Isabella's lips as she wrapped her arm around Michael's. "Michael, why didn't you tell me you had such a good friend here? If I'd known, I would've brought a gift for her too."

Scarlett narrowed her eyes, realizing Isabella wasn't someone to mess with.

Isabella's words seemed to chide Michael for not telling her about Scarlett sooner, but her real intention was to let Scarlett know that she was not a priority in Michael's life.

Michael sighed, sensing the tension between Scarlett and Isabella. He knew Scarlett's feelings for him, but he had always seen her as a sister and never thought of marrying her.

"Let me introduce you. This is Scarlett's brother, Lucas Ramirez," Michael said, pointing to the guy next to Scarlett.

"Hi, Isabella. Before I came, I wondered how beautiful Michael's wife would be. Now that I see you, I have to admit you're even more beautiful than I imagined," Lucas said warmly, extending his hand to Isabella.

Isabella shook hands with Lucas, feeling the sincerity in his smile. Whether he was genuine or not, she decided to keep things friendly.

Scarlett glared fiercely at Lucas. What an idiot! Couldn't he read the situation? He was actually shaking hands with her rival, Isabella!

"It's getting late. Let's head home. Kenna has prepared food for us," Scarlett said, heading towards the sports cars. Then she suddenly stopped as if she had remembered something.

Scarlett turned around apologetically. "I'm really sorry, but we were in such a hurry today that we could only find two sports cars, and they each only have two seats. So, we'll have to split up. I haven't seen Michael in a long time, so Ms. Taylor, I hope you don't mind if I ride with him to catch up?"

Isabella nodded with a smile, inwardly mocking Scarlett's little trick. Did she think this would make her jealous?

Scarlett had just started to smile when Michael shook his head.

"If you want to chat, do it at the dinner table. I hate it when drivers talk while driving; it's distracting and dangerous," Michael said, reaching out to Lucas.

"Give me your car keys. You and Scarlett can ride together, and I'll ride with Isabella," Michael said.

Lucas nodded and immediately handed his car keys to Michael.

Michael led Isabella towards the blue sports car. They put their luggage in the car and got in.

"Scarlett, let's go. I'm starving," Lucas said, trying to pull Scarlett towards the red sports car.

"If you're hungry, go eat shit! Get a cab home, idiot!" Scarlett snapped, glaring at Lucas before pushing him away. She got into the red sports car and drove off, leaving Lucas standing at the airport entrance.

Lucas scratched his head as he watched the red sports car drive away. "Did I do something wrong? Why is she mad at me?"

With no other choice, Lucas took an airport taxi home.

Sitting in the sports car, Isabella looked at Michael beside her and said with a smile, "It seems Scarlett isn't too fond of me."
