Chapter 90
When Isabella saw those eyes, her heart skipped a beat. After some moments of peace, she was now facing genuine danger.
The moon peeked through the clouds, casting a sliver of light in front of her.
That's when she saw them: three massive wild boars.
The good news? Wild boars are mostly herbivores.
The bad news? They can eat meat too. And they're super aggressive, ready to charge at anything that ticks them off. Given the size of these three, even a small charge could turn Isabella into a pancake.
A wave of bitterness washed over her. The best way to deal with wild boars? Climb a tree. She didn't care about any snakes that might be up there. However, the trees nearby were tall and smooth, and climbing them would take forever.
The boars had all the time in the world to attack her, but she only had one shot to hide. If one of them hit her, the best-case scenario would be a broken bone.
As the boars closed in, Isabella sighed and gripped her dagger tightly. The best way to scare off wild boars was with a torch, but all she had was an emergency fire starter and no time to make a torch.
"Even if I die, I'm going down like a hero! Bring it on, you beasts!" Isabella shouted, even though fear gripped her heart.
One of the boars lost patience and charged at her.
Isabella held her dagger tight, ready to fight.
Just as the boar was about to hit her, a shadow dropped from above, landing hard on the boar's head, making it skid to a stop, carving a furrow in the ground.
In the moonlight, Isabella was shocked to see her rescuer was a kangaroo. This kangaroo had well-defined muscles and looked oddly familiar.
"Are you Optimus Prime? No, wait, are you Megatron? Sorry, you two look so much alike, I can't tell you apart," Isabella said, almost in tears from excitement.
She had almost been killed by wild boars, but a kangaroo saved her. It sounded ridiculous, but she didn't care. As long as she was saved, it didn't matter if it was by a person or a kangaroo.
Another kangaroo dropped from above, landing on the same wild boar. The two kangaroos started bouncing on the boar like it was a trampoline.
Their powerful legs made the wild boar beneath them howl in pain.
The other two boars decided to help their buddy and charged at the kangaroos.
"Optimus Prime! Megatron, watch out!" Isabella yelled. But her worry was unnecessary.
The kangaroos jumped higher, easily dodging the charging boars.
Then, they simultaneously charged at the other two boars, their powerful legs kicking the boars in the face, knocking their snouts askew.
One of the boars had sharp tusks, but under the kangaroo's attack, its tusks were kicked off.
The boar with the broken tusks had blood flowing from its mouth. It was thoroughly enraged, driven mad by pain and anger.
The wild boar roared and charged at the kangaroo. The kangaroo nimbly leaped onto a tree, using the trunk to spring to another one.
The clever kangaroo kept luring the boar away from Isabella.
There were still two wild boars left. The one that had skidded to a stop slowly got up. Even though wild boars have thick skin, the kangaroo's powerful kicks had done some damage. After being kicked so much, the boar's internal organs were probably messed up.
Isabella hid behind a tree, quietly watching the two wild boars attacking the remaining kangaroo.
The kangaroo moved its mouth, showing no expression, its calm eyes hinting at disdain.
The two wild boars charged at the kangaroo, roaring as they tried to make it pay.
But the kangaroo stayed completely unfazed, standing its ground. This made Isabella start to worry for it.
"Come on, whether you're Megatron or Optimus Prime, just move already!" Isabella shouted from behind the tree.
Just as the two wild boars were about to hit the kangaroo, it finally jumped up, and the two boars crashed into each other like two runaway trains.
Isabella thought she heard the sound of bones shattering.
"This is too brutal!" Isabella muttered, her mouth twitching.
One of the boars slowly got up again. This time, it seemed to have learned its lesson and quickly fled in a different direction, no longer daring to mess with the kangaroo.
The other boar, severely injured, collapsed on the ground and died shortly after.
Isabella waited behind the tree for a bit, making sure it was safe before slowly approaching the wild boar. She gently poked it with a stick to confirm it was dead, then let out a sigh of relief.
Just then, the nearby bushes began to shake, making Isabella nervous again. But in the next moment, another kangaroo jumped out.
"Thank goodness! I can't believe you guys saved me!" Isabella exclaimed excitedly. She rummaged through her backpack and found two energy bars, then placed them in front of the kangaroo.
The kangaroo looked at Isabella, then sniffed the energy bars before taking a bite.
Watching the two kangaroos eat the energy bars, an idea suddenly struck Isabella. Maybe they could lead her out of the forest.
"Optimus Prime, Megatron, can you take me out of here? I'll give you some delicious food as a reward," Isabella said, looking at the kangaroos hopefully.
The two kangaroos tilted their heads, seeming to understand her, then hopped off in a direction.
"Wait for me!" Isabella shouted, chasing after them with her backpack.
The kangaroos hopped quickly, and Isabella struggled to keep up, but she gritted her teeth and kept running, knowing this might be her only chance to escape the forest.
Just as Isabella felt she was about to run out of breath, she saw a light ahead. There were people holding flashlights, seemingly searching for something.
Isabella immediately waved her arms and shouted, "Is anyone there? Help!"
Jerry was leading a search team to find Isabella when he suddenly heard a distant voice. He excitedly waved his flashlight. "Ms. Taylor, we're here to rescue you!"
