Chapter 152
Amelia felt a wave of relief wash over her after hearing Isabella's confident tone.
Just then, Isabella caught Benjamin's slightly breathless voice on the other end of the line, "What did Isabella say on the phone?"
Isabella suddenly remembered why she called Benjamin in the first place and asked Amelia to hand the phone back to him.
"What's up, Isabella? Need my help with something?" Benjamin asked with a smile as he took the phone.
Isabella's expression turned serious. "I think Bianca's behind the scheme to have my parents trash me online. Since you've been looking into Bianca's illness, have you found any clues?"
Benjamin's eyebrows knitted together, and his face grew serious. "After going through her old medical records, I'm almost sure Bianca's faking her illness. She's not sick at all. But it's complicated because the hospital's records room caught fire yesterday, and some documents, including Bianca's, were destroyed. Plus, the hospital's computer system got hacked. It was brief, but some patient info got wiped. I think someone's pulling the strings here."
Isabella's brow furrowed deeply. In her mind, Bianca was a malicious schemer, but her tricks were pretty low-level. Setting fire to a records room and hacking into a hospital system seemed way beyond her.
Isabella was sure John wasn't behind this. He genuinely believed Bianca had kidney failure, so he had no reason to erase her medical records.
"Bianca couldn't have done this. It makes sense that someone's pulling her strings. But who?" Isabella asked, frowning.
On the other end, Benjamin shrugged. "I don't know. You'll have to figure that out yourself. After all, she's your sister; you know her better than I do."
Isabella bit her lip, forming a plan in her mind.
"Can you arrange for Bianca to have another medical exam? With your status and reputation in the medical field, John is unlikely to refuse. If we can prove she's faking her illness, I can bring her down completely," Isabella said, a cold glint flashing in her eyes.
Benjamin readily agreed.
"Give me the phone. I want to talk to Isabella," Amelia's voice came from the other end.
"Isabella, I heard you closed a big deal. Let's celebrate!" Amelia suggested, hoping to help Isabella relax.
As close friends, Isabella understood Amelia's motives and readily agreed.
They planned to spend the weekend at a vineyard in the countryside, picking grapes and making wine by hand.
While Isabella and Amelia were discussing their vineyard trip, Bianca received a call at the hospital.
A deep male voice came through the line, "Benjamin's been digging into your medical records. He might be onto something about your illness. You know he's Michael's friend. If he finds out the truth, he'll definitely tell Michael, and Michael won't stand for you deceiving their family."
Bianca's face drained of color. She knew nothing of this! If Benjamin discovered her deception, their entire bribery and kidney transplant scheme would unravel. Worse still, if John grew suspicious and ordered compatibility tests for her and Isabella, the mismatch would expose Bianca's treachery, revealing her long-held plan to harm Isabella.
At that point, even if John loved her deeply, he'd be furious. And Mason, who adored Isabella, might even kill her!
"What should I do now?" Bianca asked, trembling.
The voice on the other end stayed calm. "Don't panic. Things are still under control. I've arranged a car to pick you up. Your new identity and passport are ready. Leave the hospital immediately. The car will take you to the airport. You'll fly to Lumaria. Once you arrive, call John and tell him that your parents found a matching kidney donor for you in Lumaria, and due to the urgency, you had to leave right away."
Bianca nodded in agreement. Soon, a car arrived at the hospital entrance, and Bianca's phone rang. Confirming it was the car arranged for her, Bianca wheeled herself towards it.
John's bodyguard, assigned to Bianca, followed her. "Ms. Taylor, where are you going?"
"I need to handle something urgent. You don't need to follow me. I'll inform John," Bianca said before getting into the car and leaving.
The bodyguard immediately reported the situation to John.
John tried calling Bianca, but her phone was off.
Feeling suspicious, John instructed the bodyguard to investigate Bianca's whereabouts. By the time John received news that Bianca was at the airport, she was already on a flight to Lumaria.
After Bianca's plane landed and she left the airport, she turned on her phone and called John.
"Sorry, John, I'm about to go into surgery. My parents found a kidney donor in Lumaria. The donor was in critical condition, so we couldn't afford to wait. Just as I landed, I was informed that the donor had passed away. I'll come back to you after the surgery is done," Bianca said before ending the call.
John had already been informed by Bianca's parents about her trip to Lumaria for the transplant. He had been suspicious because he hadn't heard it directly from Bianca.
Now, hearing it from Bianca herself, John felt relieved. He had been worried that Bianca might have been kidnapped.
With the call ended, John felt excited. Once Bianca had her kidney transplant, she would be healthy again and no longer need a wheelchair.
Meanwhile, after work, Michael returned to the villa. Seeing Isabella, he smiled and asked, "Can you tell me about your plan? I've been very curious."
