Chapter 257
Jerry hung up the phone right after saying "yes."
Meanwhile, Michael noticed the furrowed brow of Isabella and asked, "Are you worried that John and Bianca will find your father before us?"
Isabella nodded solemnly, her tone serious as she said, "Knowing my father, the first thing he would do after getting a phone is to contact John and Bianca. He'll for sure tell John to ring him ASAP to plan his escape. And John will be extra cautious because everyone knows we are watching him."
Michael nodded in understanding, acknowledging Isabella's concerns, but he remained confident in his team.
"Don't worry, my dear. We'll just have to wait it out. None of us have a clue where Jasper is hiding. John's not giving anything away, so we'll have to tail him," Michael reassured Isabella, offering a comforting pat on her shoulder.
Glancing at the time, Isabella saw it was 1 A.M. She wasn't sure if she should call Mason for help at this hour. She had more confidence in Mason than in Michael's subordinates, especially against John's team.
Michael saw the doubt clouding Isabella's face, which made him a bit frustrated. His subordinates were in no way inferior to John's.
"Do you want to call Mason? Maybe not, he's probably asleep at this time. Mason isn't in the best health, let him rest. And don't call Charles either, he's not much younger than Mason. Dear, please trust me. The people I've brought in are highly skilled, definitely not inferior to John's subordinates," Michael said earnestly.
Isabella looked at Michael and suddenly felt a strong sense of trust in him. She couldn't explain why, but she trusted her instincts.
"Of course, dear, I trust you. But I can't sleep now, looks like we'll be sleepless tonight." Isabella sighed, got out of bed, and started changing clothes.
"Let's get dressed in case we receive any updates. We can get to the scene as quickly as possible." After Isabella finished speaking, Michael also got out of bed and started getting dressed.
On the other side, Paxton, who had just finished dealing with family matters, was preparing to rest in bed when Jonah suddenly burst into his bedroom.
"Mr. Brown, there's news about Jasper." Jonah promptly relayed the information he received from the police station.
Paxton sat on the edge of the bed, his fingers rhythmically tapping his knee, his eyes narrowed in contemplation.
"This might be our chance." Paxton murmured in a low voice.
Jonah didn't quite understand what Paxton was thinking and could only look at him in confusion.
A faint smile appeared on Paxton's lips. "My wife almost killed John. Although they haven't found out who did it yet, it might come back to me eventually. What we need to do now is to give John some trouble! Shift his focus a bit."
""Wait, Mr. Brown, are you saying we should tail John, find Jasper, and get into a showdown with them?" Jonah questioned, clearly puzzled.
Paxton nodded, his smile widening. "Precisely. But this time, we need to change our approach. Instead of hiding in the shadows, we should openly send people to seize Jasper! Let our people be exposed to everyone!"
Jonah was shocked by Paxton's proposal.
"Mr. Brown, do you know what you're suggesting? Showing up suddenly at this time will make everyone suspicious of us!" Jonah exclaimed.
Paxton still had that faint smile on his face. "That's exactly what I want! We have identified the traitors hidden in our family, right? Let's drop a hint to them, claiming Jasper's father left some massive secret that could revive their family's lost prestige."
Jonah immediately understood Paxton's meaning, and a smile appeared on his face, dispelling his previous worries.
"I get it, Mr. Brown. You're suggesting we stir up this rumor, make it seem like we're all in for Jasper, just to spark interest from the other families! It'll push the other two families to act simultaneously! If everyone's after John, it'll naturally split his focus, leaving him no extra energy to dig into the car explosion incident." Jonah looked at Paxton with admiration. Paxton's plan was truly cunning.
Paxton's grin widened as he gestured with his hand. "Now that you're in the loop, start setting things in motion to locate Jasper pronto. I'm itching to see if the Taylor Family truly holds this secret."
Jonah nodded and left Paxton's bedroom.
The Brown Family's extensive mobilization caught the attention of the other families. Michael got wind of the Brown Family's actions but smoothly slipped away from Isabella, pretending he needed a bathroom break.
"So, Paxton sent out a lot of people tonight? What is he up to?" Michael asked with a furrowed brow.
The subordinate on the phone reported, "Our informant within the Brown Family says there are whispers about Jasper having some secret that could bring the family back from the brink, and Paxton is very interested in this secret, so he sent people to seize the shares."
Michael narrowed his eyes and then smirked. "Sending so many people for an unknown secret is clearly sending a signal. It seems Paxton is deliberately shifting the conflict elsewhere."
The subordinate on the phone agreed, "Mr. Williams, I also think there's something fishy about this because the source of this information came too easily. Paxton doesn't seem to have any intention of hiding this information, and now everyone in the Brown Family knows. The informants from the other families hidden in the Brown Family probably know too."
"I see. Keep an eye on Paxton's side, and call me immediately if there's any news." Michael responded calmly before hanging up the phone.
"Is he tryin' to drag the other families into this mess? Paxton, you sly old dog." A cold smile spread across Michael's lips.
