Chapter 372
Isabella agreed to go shopping with Avery and then hung up the phone.
She used to go shopping with Amelia, but now that Amelia's dating Benjamin and they're in the honeymoon phase, their shopping trips have become less frequent.
After hanging up, Isabella noticed Michael staring at her. She smiled and asked, "What's up, babe? Why are you looking at me like that?"
Michael grinned and said, "Nothing, I just didn't expect you back so soon. Our trip was supposed to last a few more days."
This time, Isabella and Michael decided to return home, while Benjamin and Amelia continued their trip in Lumaria.
Isabella shrugged, looking a bit helpless. "If I don't go back now, Carol will fly over to find me. I'm the president of the company now, and there are a lot of things that need my attention. I can't just dump all the work on my team. That wouldn't be fair."
Towards the end of her speech, Isabella suddenly took Michael's hand and, with a somewhat melancholic tone, said, "Babe, I might work late often and have dinners with male clients. Will you worry about our marriage?"
Michael chuckled, stroking her hair. "True love means understanding each other. I can't be too selfish and keep you tied to my side. Loving you means supporting your dreams."
Feeling touched, Isabella kissed his hand. "Babe, you're so sweet. But why are you still unwilling to work at my company?"
Michael looked a bit embarrassed. He was worried that staying in Isabella's company might expose his identity. After all, there were definitely spies from the four major families.
"Babe, you know I have a little male pride. I don't want others to think I got my status through a woman." Michael shrugged.
Isabella sighed softly, accepting his thoughts. After all, Michael was her lover, and she should respect his choices.
"It's okay, babe. You don't have to be too sad. Even though I can't be with you at work, I can be with you at home. At home, I'll be your advisor. You can ask me anything you don't understand, maybe I can help you, and most importantly, it's free." Michael winked playfully.
Seemingly understanding Michael's implication, Isabella joked, "Are you saying everything is free? Free chef, free masseuse, free nutritionist, free emotional counselor, free business consultant, and even a free provider of certain services?"
"Enough, babe. We don't need to mention the last one." Michael looked around awkwardly, noticing people staring at them.
Originally, Michael just wanted to tease Isabella and see her shy in public. He didn't expect her to joke openly, making him a bit embarrassed. Isabella understood what was on Michael's mind.
Isabella's fingers slowly traced down from Michael's Adam's apple, over his strong chest muscles, and then slid down to his abs.
The sculpted lines, like marble, made Isabella's heart flutter.
"Babe, I'm not just a girl anymore. I'm a wife now. I know a lot of things! Of course, if you want to see me shy, that's possible too. But I might need some time to get into character, maybe even dig out my old college clothes! By the way, I was a cheerleader for a bit in college, and those uniforms were pretty enticing." Isabella winked at Michael, her smile and gaze full of allure.
Michael imagined Isabella in a cheerleading uniform. With her current figure in those college clothes, they'd definitely be a bit tight, showing off her curves even more.
Michael swallowed, feeling a bit parched, a sign of his growing desire.
Taking a deep breath, Michael grabbed Isabella's hand. "Babe, let's wait a bit longer. The doctor said I need to take my medication for another month."
Isabella's eyes dimmed, and she patted Michael's waist in frustration. "Your abilities are still there, why are you so eager to maintain yourself?"
Michael's lips twitched, a hint of fear flashing in his eyes. 'No matter how good your abilities are, they can't withstand a hungry woman!'
Michael recalled the night of passion with Isabella, feeling completely drained, as if his body and soul were nonexistent, even wanting to collapse while walking.
"Babe, the body needs maintenance. The earlier you start, the better for your future health. I think you can understand, right?" Michael smiled awkwardly.
Disappointed, Isabella sighed. She wrapped her hands around Michael's neck, locking eyes with him.
"Babe, I understand you. After all, there's no chance of you straying with your physique, so in that aspect, I'm quite reassured." A sly smile flashed in Isabella's eyes.
Michael's smile froze on his face, his eyes twitching slightly, feeling annoyed. "Babe, although you make a valid point, I sense a strong hint of disdain."
Isabella covered her mouth and laughed, sharing an emotional exchange with Michael.
While Isabella and Michael were waiting for their flight, on the other side, Joseph had already boarded a plane to Lumaria.
"Wait for me, Isabella. I'm coming! I want to tell you that there's still me as an option in your life!" Joseph stared out the window at the shrinking buildings with fiery eyes.
After returning home, Isabella and Michael accepted a delivery from the courier.
While opening the package, Isabella suddenly found a letter addressed to Michael.
"Babe, here's a letter for you, but it's not signed." Isabella handed it to Michael.
After glancing at the symbol on the envelope, Michael's face instantly darkened.
