Chapter 247

On the other end of the line, Isabella and Michael, who had just hung up, had no clue about the cozy moments about to unfold between Benjamin and Amelia.

But honestly, Michael couldn't care less about that stuff; he was way more worried about the news coming out of Lumaria and had no idea how the investigation was going over there.

After they finished eating, Isabella headed to the kitchen to do the dishes, while Michael stepped outside with his phone.

"How's it going on your end?" Michael asked quietly into the phone.

He was calling a subordinate who had been in Lumaria for a while, checking in on the progress and giving them a little nudge.

The subordinate quickly responded, "Mr. Williams, I was just about to call you with an update, but since you called first, let me fill you in."

Michael gave a slight nod, needing to hear this info.

The subordinate continued, "After arriving, I got help from a well-known private detective agency here. After a few days, the detective confirmed that none of the city hospitals had any record of Bianca getting a kidney transplant."

"Is that all you found? Could it have been done anonymously? Or maybe not at those hospitals?" Michael pressed.

The subordinate replied, "The detective thought of that. Kidney transplants need allocated slots, and adding someone suddenly would cause issues. So, the detective checked all of Bianca's activities after she left the airport. Turns out, she didn't go to any hospital; she hid out at a vacation resort."

Michael lit a cigarette, took a deep drag, and exhaled thoughtfully. "Has that resort been checked?"

"The detective already looked into it. He went undercover as a hotel waiter, got into Bianca's room, and found her hair in the bathroom to confirm it was her. Plus, some resort staff saw her wandering around. The detective is now reviewing the resort's surveillance footage, hoping to find more clues." The subordinate finished his report, waiting for Michael's instructions.

Michael nodded, satisfied. "Good job. I'm happy with what you've found so far, but the main thing is to get proof that Bianca faked her illness! Think of every excuse she might use."

"Don't worry, Mr. Williams, I'll get it done," the subordinate said earnestly.

With the call over, Michael headed back into the villa.

Inside, Isabella had finished the dishes and was lounging on the sofa, flipping through some documents.

Michael sat down next to her and glanced at the papers, which were from the three companies under Jasper.

"You haven't even got the shares yet, and you're already diving into the company's operations?" Michael teased with a smile.

Isabella kept her eyes on the documents and, without looking up, said, "I'm sure I'll get those shares! Getting a head start on this stuff will help me understand the company's operations better."

Michael sighed and started massaging her shoulders gently.

Isabella patted his hand, smiling. "You've had a long day too. Don't worry about me. Go take a break. I remember reading that a hot bath before bed, along with soaking your feet, can improve your sleep."

Michael sighed again, his shoulders slumping a bit as he moved to the edge of the sofa and scooped Isabella into his arms.

"What are you doing? Put me down, I haven't finished these documents!" Isabella protested, patting his shoulder.

Michael kissed her cheek. "Babe, I think you're the one who needs a break! You've been running yourself ragged, dealing with your parents' stuff, figuring out how to fix Jasper's mess, and now reading these boring documents. You need more rest."

"But honestly, I don't feel tired," Isabella said, a bit helpless.

Ignoring her, Michael carried her towards the bedroom. "Nope, you're tired. I said you're tired, so you're tired! Now, I'm taking you to the bathroom for a hot bath, then a foot soak, and then you can lie in my arms while I sing you a lullaby."

"I'm not a baby, Michael. Why would you sing a lullaby?" Isabella rolled her eyes, but by then, Michael had already taken her into the bathroom.

A scream came from the bathroom. "Wait, you need to leave. I don't need you to help me undress. Damn it, I'm on my period and can't do that kind of thing."

Then Michael's voice came from the bathroom, "Please, honey, think of the water! Let's shower together, it'll save water. I know you're on your period, and I have no intention of doing that. I just want to help you wash your back. Now, stop talking and take a bath!"

Isabella reluctantly agreed. But a few minutes later, a frustrated voice came from the bathroom.

Isabella cried out, "I don't need you to help me wash my butt, I can reach it myself!"

Meanwhile, on the other side of the city, a plane slowly landed at the airport.

Paxton's wife, Zoey, got off the plane with a worried look. The driver who had been waiting quickly took her to the hospital.

Zoey and Estella dined together overseas, growing closer, and planned to shop the next day. But then Zoey got a call from Jonah saying her daughter, Pearl, could now hear sounds.

As a mom, Zoey was super excited, so she took the earliest flight back.

When Zoey showed up outside Pearl's ward, she was buzzing with excitement.

"You said my daughter can hear now, can I talk to her?" Zoey asked Jonah, her voice full of hope.

Jonah awkwardly shook his head. "Ms. Brown's a bit sensitive right now. It might be better to let her calm down first. The doctor suggested some calming music first."
