Chapter 255
Michael pretty much figured that those poor souls who met their end were likely the ones who planted the bombs in John's ride.
"It seems like my previous guess was right. It's very likely that Paxton did it. Did I really underestimate a father's love for his daughter?" Michael mused, his brow furrowing.
Meanwhile, Jerry said on the phone, "And, Mr. Williams, we got some inside info from our source in the Brown Family. It seems like Paxton had a fight with his wife. His wife Zoey went abroad tonight, probably to see Ms. Foster. Regrettably, our source isn't well-placed to listen in at the door."
"Could it be Paxton's wife who did it?" Michael was surprised, as he didn't know much about Zoey.
"Anyway, whoever did it, it's all related to Paxton. Keep a close eye on him," Michael instructed, concluding the call..
Shortly after Michael and Jerry ended their call, the sound of brakes echoed outside the mansion. Moments later, Isabella entered with an air of effortless grace.
"Darling, did you make something delicious today? I'm starving." Isabella took off her bag and coat, placing them on the coat rack.
Isabella walked into the kitchen and hugged Michael around the waist.
Pointing to the oven, Michael revealed, "We're having baked fish today! Trust me, it will be exquisite."
As Isabella breathed in the delightful scent wafting from the oven, she nodded in satisfaction. "It seems almost ready. I can't wait."
Michael ruffled Isabella's hair and grinned. "So, when the police were questioning you at the hotel, didn't they feed you?"
Isabella shook her head. ""They did have food, but no one dared eat it. After all, a heir of a big family nearly got assassinated there, who knows if there's poison in the food? Besides, the food made by the hotel isn't that good. I prefer eating at home."
Michael watched Isabella, then asked, "So, did John and Bianca keep questioning you the whole time?"
Isabella shook her head again. "Once those two entered the room, they never came out again. They had eight bodyguards guarding the door-clearly afraid for their lives. I heard even the police had to be searched before entering! I wonder if that experience will leave the officers traumatized."
Michael chuckled, realizing that it was usually the police who searched others, but now the police were being searched by others.
"Darling, do you think someone is really trying to divide the Mason family?" Isabella asked seriously.
Michael denied, "Darling, you're asking the wrong person. After all, I'm not part of this family. But Mason, John, and John's uncle are all very smart people. Maybe they have already seen through each other's schemes."
"You're right. I should call Mason and talk to him about this." Isabella was about to take out her phone but was stopped by Michael.
Isabella's eyes, filled with a blend of curiosity and confusion, met Michael's steady gaze.
Michael said calmly, "Honey, slow down. It's getting late, Mason's probably resting. And besides, he might have figured out what you've guessed already. Bringing it up again won't help. Let's wait a bit and see him at the hospital."
Michael felt helpless. Although he had Estella impersonate his wife, Mason's suspicions had never truly abated.
The only thing Michael could do was limit how much Isabella and Mason interacted. Luckily, Isabella didn't want anyone to know her husband's identity, so she never shared any details about him. As a result, Mason still didn't know her husband's name.
"Darling, you're right. Do you think this will mess with my chances of getting the shares?" Isabella asked.
Michael stroked his forehead, pondered for a moment, and then nodded. "It could have some impact. After all, Mason promised to help you get the shares, but he's quite old and can only pass this on to his nephew. With John being assassinated, Mason might reduce the assistance he provides you."
After thinking for a while, Isabella denied the idea. "Actually, this will also affect John. If he truly believes these speculations, he will definitely allocate some resources to guard against his uncle! This will also lessen the support he gives to Bianca. For both sides, it creates a strange balance."
Michael drew Isabella into an embrace, placing a tender kiss on her cheek. "Darling, you're really smart."
Isabella drew a circle on Michael's chest with her hand. "Darling, my period will end in two days."
Michael's breathing suddenly became rapid, and at that moment, a beep came from the oven.
"Let's enjoy our meal," Isabella smiled, put on heat-resistant gloves, and took out the fish from the oven.
While Isabella and Michael were having dinner, John and Bianca had already gotten into a new car.
The car, driven by a vigilant bodyguard, had undergone meticulous inspection to ensure it was free of danger, with even the windows being bulletproof.
"Darling, do you really think Isabella did this?" John squinted his eyes.
Bianca hesitated for a moment and shook her head. "I don't know if it was her. If it really was, then Isabella is getting more and more ruthless."
"Do you think there's a possibility that my uncle did this, and his goal is to seize control of the family business?" John looked at Bianca with a smile.
Bianca's eyes widened in shock as she looked at John. "Darling, are you joking? Could it really be your uncle?"
John suddenly laughed, "It couldn't be him. My uncle would hit me, scold me, but he would never resort to such measures. Perhaps the real culprit wants me to think this way. Someone is trying to sow discord within our family."
John narrowed his eyes, suspecting many possible culprits in his mind.
At that moment, Bianca's phone suddenly rang.
She glanced at the screen, noticing an unfamiliar number. She answered it and froze upon hearing Jasper's voice.
