Chapter 307

Duncan glanced at the number on the paper and waved the waitress away.

He checked his watch again, annoyed that his appointment was late. But then he looked at the paper again and something clicked.

Duncan pulled out his phone and dialed the number. The call was answered quickly, and a slightly hoarse voice came through.

"Sorry, sir, I can't meet you in person. This is the only way to contact me," the voice said casually.

Fuming, Duncan snapped, "It's really you, you jerk! You emailed me to meet, and now you stand me up? Don't you realize how precious my time is?"

The person on the phone mocked, "Oh, did I mess up your routine of harassing and assaulting female subordinates? If so, my bad."

Duncan's eyes narrowed. "I don't know what you're talking about. I've never done anything like that. Keep slandering me, and I'll gather evidence and sue you."

The voice on the phone laughed, then turned icy. "That girl's name is Maddy Ramos, right? You hired thugs to beat her and cause a miscarriage, threatened her mom, went too far and caused her death, and then pushed Maddy down the stairs. Think no one knows? You still have that torn diary, don't you?"

Duncan's pupils shrank. He looked around nervously, then lowered his voice. "What do you want?"

The voice on the phone was cold. "Relax, I'm not the police. I'm calling about Isabella."

"Isabella? Our new CEO? You want me to target her?" Duncan's eyes narrowed, guessing the guy's intentions.

The voice didn't hide it. "Exactly. I want you to take her out. Not just at work, but completely."

"Are you nuts? You want me to take her out? How am I supposed to do that?" Duncan growled through gritted teeth.

The voice sneered, "What if she's planning to take you out? Remember what she said at the press conference. You're smart, think about all the crap you've pulled over the years. You're worthless to the company, just a dirty bug. Isabella wants to clean house and win over the employees. The best way is to get rid of you bugs. Think those you've bullied won't snitch?"

A flash of nervousness crossed Duncan's eyes. His reputation at the company was trash. If Isabella wanted to clean up, someone would definitely rat him out. Even if they didn't have solid proof, Isabella might find something if she dug around.

"Isabella's been kidnapped before, so she's probably got some serious security. I only know street thugs, and they don't have the guts to kill," Duncan admitted. Most of the killing he had done before was accidental or due to excessive force.

So far, Duncan had only directly caused one death, the poor pregnant girl Maddy. But he wasn't dumb; he wouldn't personally go and kill someone.

The voice on the phone snapped, "Is your brain full of mush? Bugs like you are all over the company, and Isabella will definitely get rid of you. Gather your people, hire some real hitmen. It's not hard. Those thugs won't do it because you're not paying enough!"

The suggestion made Duncan pause. It was a way out. Instead of waiting for Isabella to target him, maybe it was better to take her out first.

"If we do this, Mason might retaliate," Duncan said cautiously.

But the voice on the phone reassured him, "No one will retaliate against you. Once Isabella is dead, the company shares will transfer to Bianca, and she can protect you all."

Duncan's eyes lit up. "Are you with Bianca?" he asked quickly.

The voice neither confirmed nor denied. "Finish this quickly, if you don't want to end up in jail."

With that, the call ended.

Duncan tried calling back, but the phone was off and he couldn't get through.

On the other end, Bianca took out the SIM card, used tweezers to pick it up, held it in front of a lighter, and completely destroyed it.

Then, Bianca removed the voice changer from her neck. "Isabella, let's see how you'll fight me this time. Don't blame me when you meet your maker," Bianca said with a bitter smile.

Realizing he couldn't reach the caller again, Duncan slammed the table hard, then stood up, paid the bill, and left the coffee shop. He needed to gather his allies in the company to figure out how to deal with Isabella. He couldn't do this alone.

Finding those targeted by Isabella wasn't hard. Duncan and Isabella were from the same family, and most of the wrongdoers were too.

Duncan made a few calls, gathered them in an empty meeting room, and explained the crisis. They were all on edge.

"We absolutely have to stop that bitch Isabella. We can't let her find out what we've done," a woman screamed.

"I just took a little money. Her father was corrupt too. Why doesn't she go after him first?" someone complained.

Duncan looked at them coldly. "Complaining won't help now. We need to unite to take down Isabella. I don't have enough money, so let's pool our resources and hire a hitman."
