Chapter 338

Isabella gave Brenda a comforting hug before heading out of the police station.

Even though Isabella wasn't part of the interrogation, she had a pretty good idea of what John had told Alan.

John probably spun a tale about being duped by Bianca, which led him to use the marriage card to pressure Isabella into donating a kidney to Bianca. Sure, it was shady, but not illegal since Isabella had the right to say no.

John flat-out denied Isabella's accusations that he and Bianca had kidnapped her and forcibly taken her kidney. After all, all the medical staff were bought by Bianca, so John played dumb. He just had to claim Bianca told him they found a perfect donor, which was why he got Benjamin to do the surgery, not realizing he was walking into Bianca's trap.

After leaving the station, John sat in his car, looking grim and staying silent.

Then, out of nowhere, his phone rang. It was one of his guys.

"Mr. Williams, the medical team you asked for is outside the station. Should we still test Ms. Taylor?" the guy asked, sounding pretty nervous.

The guy was thinking, 'Great, why do I have to make this call? Don't these idiots know Mr. Williams is pissed right now? I'm probably gonna get chewed out.' He shot a glare at the others.

John was about to yell at that guy to get lost and stop bugging him, but he stopped himself and took a deep breath.

"Since they're already there, go ahead and do the test," John said, then hung up.

After the call, John stared out the window, feeling drained. The anger was gone, replaced by a deep sadness.

He remembered all the times Isabella had called him an idiot. Maybe she was right; maybe he really was an idiot in some ways.

"If it had been Isabella from the start, would things be different?" John muttered to himself.

He thought about everything Isabella had done for him over the past eight years. She always made his favorite dishes and supported him no matter what.

And how did he repay her? By constantly hurting her and ignoring all her efforts. He'd hurt her so many times over those eight years.

John had to admit he felt a weird sense of guilt towards Isabella now. He felt remorse.

"Do I still have a chance?" John whispered, like he was talking in his sleep.

Meanwhile, Brenda was already grilling Bianca back at the station.

There was no need to tread lightly with Bianca like with John, especially since John had lost trust in her. Plus, Brenda and her team had gathered solid evidence of Bianca's crimes.

"Bianca, how long are you gonna keep quiet? All the evidence points to you trying to hurt Isabella. Even John's not backing you anymore. You might as well come clean and try to get a better deal," Brenda said, slamming the table and glaring at Bianca.

Bianca sat there, head down, pale as a ghost, her hands cuffed and fingers tightly intertwined, showing just how scared she was.

Up until now, Bianca felt like she was living a nightmare. Just yesterday, she was dreaming about becoming the head of the family, marrying John, and getting everyone's blessings while crushing Isabella.

But overnight, those dreams went up in smoke.

Instead of stepping on Isabella, Bianca found herself in the police station because of the evidence Isabella had on her. Now, she was looking at legal trouble and probably prison time.

Bianca couldn't handle the thought of prison. Unlike last time, when John had her back and the other inmates left her alone despite hating her, this time was different. John was done with her, and she might not make it out alive.

And she hadn't forgotten about the car bomb incident she and John went through. She suspected Paxton was behind it. If Paxton still had it out for her, she might end up like Pearl in prison.

Just thinking about Pearl's fate made Bianca shiver with fear.

"I need to make a call," Bianca finally said.

Brenda frowned. "No one can save you now. Not even John."

Bianca stared at Brenda, her eyes bloodshot and a hint of madness in her expression. "I said I need to make a call now, or I won't say anything."

Brenda narrowed her eyes, then left the room.

After a few rings, someone picked up, and a man's voice came through. "How's everything going? You should be the CEO by now!"

The guy chuckled, but then he realized something was off because Bianca stayed silent.

"What's going on?" he asked, his voice getting serious.

Bianca took a deep breath, her voice shaking. "I lost. Isabella found Jasper and the embezzled funds he hid. Worse, she has all the evidence of my fake illness. I'm locked up on murder charges, and John doesn't believe me anymore. You have to help me, you're my only hope."

As soon as she finished, the guy on the phone blew up.

"So you're calling me from the police station? Are you an idiot? Your call could be tapped. You're putting me in danger, you fool!" he yelled.

"Don't forget we're in this together. If you don't help me, I'll spill everything you've done," Bianca threatened, her teeth clenched.

There was a pause on the other end before he said, "Give me some time, I'll take care of it."
