Chapter 246
Michael's words dropped like a bomb, leaving Isabella speechless. On the other end of the line, Amelia and Benjamin were just as stunned.
Isabella reached over and pinched Michael's lips, making him look like a duck.
"Sweetie, if you don't know what to say, just zip it. What you said was super embarrassing," Isabella scolded, rolling her eyes.
Benjamin's angry voice came through the phone. "Michael, you idiot, why would I be calling you while doing that?"
"So you guys haven't tried it?" Michael, with a mischievous grin, freed his lips from Isabella's grip.
"Actually, we've tried many times..." Benjamin's words got cut off by his own scream.
On the other end, Amelia, blushing furiously, kicked Benjamin away.
"You moron! What nonsense are you talking about? When have I ever done that with you?" Amelia yelled, fuming.
Isabella shot Michael a fierce look, his words once again stirring up trouble between the couple.
Benjamin, covering his face, mumbled awkwardly, "Honey, you don't get it. There are some things guys just can't give in to."
Seeing Amelia about to pounce on him again, Benjamin quickly shouted into the phone, "Why did you call? Are you trying to ruin our relationship?"
Amelia paused, holding the phone, and asked, "Yeah, Isabella, what's up?"
Just as Isabella was about to explain, Michael butted in, "So, were you two really doing that just now?"
"Will you ever stop? Amelia got a splinter in her hand and was about to go to the hospital. I was just helping her out! It's not what you're thinking. You're such a perv," Benjamin's voice boomed through the phone.
Michael shrugged and took a couple of steps back as he saw Isabella pick up a kitchen knife with a cold look.
"Sweetie, don't be so tense. I was just trying to lighten the mood," Michael said awkwardly, forcing a smile.
In front of his lover and friends, he dropped his usual cool demeanor, showing his playful side.
Isabella rolled her eyes, remembering something she read online about men having a childish mindset.
'I haven't even become a mom yet, but I'm already dealing with this!' Isabella thought, then got to the point.
"I need the medical report on Bianca that you prepared," Isabella said seriously.
Benjamin paused, surprised, "Didn't you say Bianca had already recovered? Why do you need those reports now?"
Isabella replied firmly, "I need to find out which doctors Bianca bribed to fake her evidence. I want them to come clean. Also, I need a test report to see if my kidneys match Bianca's."
"No problem, leave it to me. With my connections, I can handle the doctors and get those test reports," Benjamin assured confidently.
Michael sidled up again, placing a hand on Isabella's shoulder.
Just as he was about to speak, Isabella shot him a cold glare.
"If you say something embarrassing again, you're sleeping on the couch for a month! No way you're getting back in my bed!" Isabella snapped.
Michael's mouth twitched. He just had to wait for Isabella's period to pass so he could impress her in bed. The idea of spending a month on the couch was almost too much to handle.
"Don't worry, babe, I'm serious this time!" Michael grinned and took the phone from Isabella.
"Benjamin, remember when we were drinking last time, and you mentioned sending someone to check out Bianca's surgery in Lumaria? How's that going?" Michael asked, knowing Benjamin would play along.
Benjamin, caught off guard, quickly recovered. He hadn't sent anyone to Lumaria, but he got Michael's drift.
"No news yet. It's not my turf, and these things take time. I'll update you as soon as I hear anything," Benjamin replied smoothly.
Isabella was touched. "Thanks, Benjamin. I didn't expect you to look into Lumaria. There are so many variables."
Benjamin laughed. "No problem. You're Michael's wife and a good friend of my girlfriend. Plus, I can't stand Bianca. With all that, of course I'll help."
After a quick chat about the next steps, Benjamin hung up.
But after hanging up, he noticed Amelia staring at him.
"Sweetheart," he started, a sheepish smile on his face, "are you still mad about my nonsense earlier? Okay, I admit guys can be weirdly competitive, but..."
Before he could finish, Amelia leaned in and kissed him passionately. When she pulled back, her eyes were shining.
Benjamin looked at her, confused.
"I loved what you said just now! You're so smart and loyal! As for the joke with Michael, I'll pretend I didn't hear it," Amelia murmured, gazing at him.
Since they got together, Benjamin had constantly surprised her, whether it was helping her mom or supporting her friend. He was proving to be a great guy.
Benjamin touched his nose. He hadn't actually sent anyone to Lumaria, but he wasn't about to correct her now.
Suddenly, he noticed Amelia's face was a bit red.
With her head down, she whispered, "Even though we haven't done that, if you want, we can try."
At first, Benjamin didn't get what she meant, but then it clicked, and his heart raced with excitement.
