Chapter 330
The medical staff knew Bianca was faking her illness. All those diagnostic reports? They were from other uremia patients, just with Bianca's name slapped on them.
Benjamin figured it all out. At first, some of the medical staff didn't want to admit it because they were scared of pissing off John.
But then Benjamin dropped a bomb on them. "You're scared of John? You should be more scared of me and Mason."
That shut them up real quick.
Benjamin went on, "You know how much Isabella means to Mason, right? Because you faked Bianca's records, John thought about taking Isabella's kidney to save Bianca. Let me tell you, Mason might seem nice now, but back in the day, he killed more people than you can count."
One nurse just crumpled to the floor.
"Please, don't let me die! I don't want to die!" she cried. She'd helped Bianca fabricate her illness and fool John.
Seeing her reaction, Benjamin nodded, satisfied. "If you come clean, I'll give you a way out. I won't let John destroy you."
Once one person confessed, the rest followed, spilling everything to Benjamin.
Soon enough, Benjamin had all the dirt on Bianca's scam.
As a private plane flew into the city's night sky, the medical staff took Jasper to the hospital after it landed.
When Isabella heard Jasper was back, she called Brenda.
On the call, Isabella told Brenda they had to keep a close watch on Jasper and make sure he didn't bolt from the hospital again.
Isabella thought about asking Mason for help but decided to surprise Bianca instead. She worried that if she told Mason ahead of time, he might accidentally let it slip to John, and that would ruin the fun.
In the end, Isabella decided to trust the police, even though there was a risk of leaks. But she knew there were still some good cops like Brenda.
Brenda understood why Isabella called her directly instead of going through official channels. Brenda was frustrated with the state of the police department too, but she couldn't change it. So she found another way to protect Jasper.
Soon, the officers at the station noticed their prettiest colleague, Brenda, was on leave. But they didn't think much of it.
They also didn't notice some young officers missing, sent by Alan to help Brenda. Like her, they weren't bought off by the four big families and were in it for justice.
After meeting Isabella, Brenda got the lowdown on Jasper's injury. She was surprised Isabella managed to bring Jasper back from abroad but didn't ask how she pulled it off.
Brenda and the other officers changed into plainclothes to guard Jasper. This time, they were super careful, making sure none of the four big families caught wind of it.
"I'll make sure Jasper gets back on his feet and faces the music in court once he's better," Brenda said, standing by his bed with a steely look.
The city settled down for a bit, just like John had predicted. The three major families broke off their alliance when they heard Jasper might die, and no one was gunning for John anymore. He could finally chill and ease up on the economic pressure.
The three families' guys abroad-Jay, Hadley, and Tanner-got chewed out by their family heads. They were told to come back as soon as they got the DNA test results.
Other than that, things seemed to go back to normal in the city, with the four big families keeping a low profile.
But some sharp folks could feel something brewing. The whole city seemed like it was on the edge of another storm.
And right in the middle of it were Isabella and Bianca, fighting over shares.
This calm didn't last a week. When a cargo ship docked, Isabella took the upper hand completely.
Brenda went with Isabella to the dock. When they got back, Brenda's eyes were wide with shock.
The other officers were dying to know what Brenda saw, but all she said was that Isabella had won.
John finally got his financial mojo back and started making moves. After a bunch of twists and turns, the money ended up in Bianca's account. Soon, Bianca would be able to use this money to cover the public funds and become the largest shareholder of the Taylor Group.
That day, John called a meeting with the company's execs, skipping Isabella, and ran the show himself.
The execs didn't know what John was up to, but they couldn't afford to piss him off, so they showed up to see what was going on.
Carol got an invite too and immediately told Isabella.
"It's fine, let him do his thing. Today, I'll give everyone a surprise, including John," Isabella said with a sly smile.
Carol felt a weird vibe from Isabella's laugh, thinking this meeting was going to spell trouble for Bianca and John.
All the execs were in the conference room, with Bianca sitting at the head of the table. John, as usual, sat on the other side of her.
"Long time no see, everyone," Bianca greeted the execs with a smile.
The execs didn't respond, knowing Isabella was the president now.
Bianca didn't care about the awkward silence. She smiled and said, "According to the previous agreement, whoever finds Jasper's embezzled public funds gets his shares and becomes a major shareholder in the company."
The execs had mixed feelings, seeing Bianca's confidence. They figured she had gathered some money but didn't know if it was the embezzled fund or John's money.
Just then, the conference room door swung open, and Isabella walked in with her bodyguards.
"Why hold a meeting without telling me, the president? Bianca, is that your seat? Move your butt out of there right now," Isabella said coldly.
