Chapter 376
Isabella and Avery heard the noise and turned around at the same time, spotting two women who looked shocked to see Isabella.
"Ms. Foster, Mrs. Brown, are you here to buy a car too?" Isabella greeted them with a smile.
"Ms. Taylor, you're here too? Oh, you're the CEO now. Yes, I'm here to buy a car," Estella smiled and shook Isabella's hand.
Estella's status in the Big Four families was well-known. Avery knew who Estella was married to, but they had never interacted.
"Ms. Foster, this is my good friend Avery from the Davis Family. And Ms. Foster, I think you already know who she is," Isabella winked at Avery.
Avery nodded and shook hands with Estella.
Avery ignored Zoey after Isabella's initial greeting, showing the Brown Family's lower status among the Big Four. The other three families didn't see them as equals.
Zoey was used to such treatment from the other major families.
Zoey looked at Isabella coldly and said, "I heard you not only got all the shares in the company and became the CEO, but also sent your sister to prison. What charges this time?"
With Zoey's words, the atmosphere grew tense.
Isabella's demeanor cooled. The initial greeting was just politeness, but since Zoey was being rude, she didn't need to be nice.
Last time, Isabella sent Bianca to prison for trashing her house and stealing her designs. This time, Bianca was suspected of forging medical reports, bribing staff, and attempting to kidnap Isabella.
The kidnapping charge was only mentioned as attempted because Isabella didn't publicize it due to Mason's condition.
"It doesn't really concern you what charges I use, right? I didn't expect Mrs. Brown to care so much about me. Thank you, it reminds me of my mother," Isabella smiled at Zoey, but her words were like a bombshell.
Isabella deliberately mentioned her mother, indirectly referring to Pearl, who was still in the ICU.
Pearl's situation was a sore spot for Zoey. Every time she saw Pearl's miserable state in the hospital, she couldn't help but tremble with sadness and anger.
Indeed, after Isabella mentioned this, Zoey's face turned pale again, with anger brewing in her eyes.
Estella felt uneasy. She didn't expect to run into Isabella while buying a car. Zoey always got worked up around Isabella. Estella knew she had to calm Zoey down, or things might get out of hand and be hard to explain to Michael.
"Mrs. Brown, I think that car over there looks good too. Let's go check it out," Estella pointed to a car, planning to pull Zoey over to distract her.
But Zoey just glanced at the car and shook her head. "Ms. Foster, that car doesn't suit your style. This SUV is more your speed!"
Zoey pointed to the SUV in front of them. Isabella's face darkened, and Avery's expression soured because they had seen the car first. Most importantly, there was only one in the whole store.
Isabella said to Zoey coolly, "Mrs. Brown, I hope you understand that we saw this car first."
Zoey chuckled, crossing her arms. "Seeing it first doesn't make it yours. Can I pay more if I like it?"
"Do you think this is an auction? It's not like I can't afford it, you nouveau riche," Avery shot back, mocking Zoey.
In the eyes of the other three major families, the Brown Family was just nouveau riche, always trying to solve everything with money.
The manager of the dealership wasn't stupid. Letting the highest bidder buy the car would offend other wealthy clients. While they wanted to make money, integrity was also important.
Avery's words provoked Zoey, but she couldn't find anything to target Avery with. Avery didn't have embarrassing incidents known to everyone like Isabella did-pursuing John for eight years only to be abandoned, marrying an ordinary guy, being betrayed by family, and sending loved ones to prison.
In the end, Zoey decided to target Isabella.
"I heard your sister Bianca was released from prison by John again. I really didn't expect that. Did she save his life or something? Why does he always love her so much and look down on you?" Zoey continued to mock, crossing her arms.
Estella covered her face in annoyance. After spending time with Zoey, she had learned that Zoey's daughter Pearl had deep conflicts with Isabella. As a mother, Zoey naturally sided with Pearl and kept targeting Isabella. Estella felt Zoey targeted Isabella not just because of Pearl, but also to vent her own resentment.
Isabella looked at Zoey coldly and said, "I also want to know why John does this, but his feelings don't matter to me. I don't rely on him to live. Besides, John looks down on you too. Have you pursued him too? Does Paxton know about this?"
After hearing Isabella's words, Avery burst into laughter. "This is hilarious. Zoey pursuing John? Even the most unreliable journalist couldn't write such a story. But that scene must have been really funny."
Avery's imagination ran wild, and she couldn't help but laugh out loud at the thought of Zoey and John together.
Estella also covered her mouth, trying hard not to laugh, but her shaking shoulders gave her away.
Laughter is contagious. Although Isabella was just mocking Zoey, Avery's laughter was so infectious that Isabella couldn't help but laugh too.
Among the four women, only Zoey didn't laugh.
