Chapter 204
Mason's eyes flickered for a second when he heard Michael's question. He just waved it off. "No big reason. I just think they make a good pair. Plus, Isabella's grandpa and I had this old agreement that if our kids were a boy and a girl, they'd get hitched. It's a promise I made to him."
But Michael wasn't buying it.
He'd always thought it had something to do with Isabella's grandma, probably some leftover drama from the past.
Mason had explained that he wanted John to marry Isabella because her family had many enemies, and only the Williams family's power could protect them.
Now, Michael could see Mason had his own reasons. But Mason wasn't spilling, and pushing him might make things worse.
"Why do old folks love keeping secrets?" Michael muttered, scratching his head as he left the hospital.
He got into the car parked on the street, and Jerry leaned over from the driver's seat.
"Mr. Michael Williams, what's the plan? Should we go find Mr. John Williams?" Jerry asked.
Michael sat in the back, tapping his knee with his fingers, thinking about whether to give John a piece of his mind.
Finally, he shook his head. "Nah, if Mason's not gonna teach John a lesson..."
Before he could finish, his phone rang. He saw it was Leo calling.
Michael's heart skipped a beat, and he quickly answered.
"What's up? Is Isabella in trouble?" Michael asked, worried.
Leo's hesitant voice came through. "Mr. Williams, I'm not sure if I should tell you this, but Ms. Taylor got a call and then went to find John. The caller seemed to be Joseph."
Michael raised an eyebrow. He doubted Isabella went to John for a friendly chat. She was probably planning to break his legs.
Michael took a deep breath. "Did Isabella bring any weapons?"
Leo hesitated, not because of Michael's calm reaction, but because he was right!
"Yeah, she brought a baseball bat. She said she was gonna break John's legs," Leo said.
Michael sighed. He knew he was right. Mason treated Isabella so well, but John had angered him so badly that he ended up in the hospital. Isabella wouldn't let John get away with it easily.
"Listen, you must protect Isabella and make sure she doesn't get hurt, got it?" Michael said firmly.
Leo's voice came through the phone. "Don't worry, Mr. Williams. I've been following Ms. Taylor closely, staying hidden. If John or anyone else tries to hurt her, I'll step in and handle it!"
With Leo's assurance, Michael felt relieved.
After hanging up, Michael turned to Jerry. "Get me a few bodyguards John knows but Isabella doesn't. We're going to find John."
Jerry nodded and got to work.
Meanwhile, after his argument with Mason, John found Bianca again. This time, they were at a friend's yacht party.
Hearing that John had argued with Mason for her, Bianca wept and begged him to apologize, but John refused to be swayed.
"I'm done listening to my grandfather. No one can tell me who to love. It's my choice!" John said firmly.
Bianca was so moved she almost hugged and kissed him right there, but they were surrounded by people.
Just then, a baseball bat came flying, smashing the bottles on their table.
Glass shards flew everywhere, startling everyone. John quickly pulled Bianca back.
"What the hell? Who did that?" John yelled, looking around, only to see Isabella approaching with a cold expression.
"Isabella? Did you throw that bat? What do you want?" John demanded angrily.
Bianca, scared, clung to John, looking at Isabella. "Isabella, I know you're upset about me and John, but you can't do this! The glass almost cut John's face."
"Save your drama and stop talking to me like that, or I'll smash your face with this bat," Isabella said, picking up the bat and pointing it at Bianca with a look of disgust.
Bianca was terrified by the fierceness in Isabella's eyes and didn't dare to speak again.
"Isabella, have you lost it? Do you even know where you are?" John stood in front of Bianca, glaring at Isabella.
Isabella raised the bat and looked at him with disdain. "You're being a complete idiot, letting her walk all over you, while your grandpa's in the hospital because of your dumb moves. And here you are, partying like nothing's wrong? You're such a jerk. You make me sick."
John frowned, confused. "My grandfather is hospitalized? How come I didn't know?"
John's innocent expression only made Isabella angrier. She raised the bat high and swung it at his head.
John was startled and quickly dodged. The bat smashed into the bottles in front of him, shattering another one.
"You didn't know? Too bad, because you're about to pay the price." Isabella, her eyes red with anger, swung the bat at John repeatedly.
Everyone around was shocked by Isabella's fierceness. They had always thought of her as gentle, but today they saw a different side.
"Isabella, I'm warning you, one more move and I'm not holding back!" John dodged continuously, his anger rising. He knew he had done something wrong so he wasn't fighting back.
"You'd better fight back because I'm looking for an excuse to break your legs!" Isabella said, swinging the bat at John's knees.
