Chapter 363
Benjamin sprinted over to Lila and Amelia when he heard Lila's cry.
Michael and Isabella were right on his heels.
Michael leaned in and whispered to Isabella, "Looks like you were right, Lila's hurt. Seems like you're halfway to winning that bet."
Isabella chuckled, "Just wait. Lila's gonna cry to Benjamin, saying she's too clumsy and always messing up, which made Amelia mad and push her. Then she'll hope Benjamin won't blame Amelia."
"And then Amelia will argue, but Benjamin won't believe her and blame her instead, right?" Michael grinned.
Isabella shrugged, "Pretty much."
By now, they had reached Lila and Amelia. Lila was on the ground, clutching her foot, while Amelia stood there looking worried.
"What happened? How'd you get hurt?" Benjamin asked, frowning as he crouched down to check on Lila.
"I don't know, she just fell all of a sudden," Amelia said, looking innocent and spreading her hands.
With tears in her eyes, Lila said, "Don't blame Ms. Martinez. It's my fault for being so clumsy and always making mistakes. She got mad and pushed me, but I didn't expect the snow to be so slippery. I twisted my ankle."
Amelia's eyes widened in anger. "How can you say that? Your fall has nothing to do with me. Don't blame me."
Lila gave a bitter smile, "I don't have low blood sugar, so why did I suddenly fall? If you don't want to admit it, then fine. After all, I asked you to teach me skiing."
Fuming, Amelia snapped, "You're something else, pretending to be weak and trying to blame me. Benjamin, do you believe her?"
Benjamin didn't answer. He just focused on Lila's ankle. "It's not a big deal, no dislocation, just a sprain. Rest for a few days and you'll be fine."
Amelia felt both angry and let down by Benjamin's silence.
Isabella walked over to Amelia, gently pulled her aside, and said with a smile, "Don't push him to choose now. Benjamin knows what to do. Tell me what happened."
Amelia nodded. "When I was teaching Lila to ski, she kept asking about how Benjamin and I met. I told her, but she mocked me, saying I didn't really understand who Benjamin loves. I got mad and argued with her."
"Maybe she wasn't trying to argue but to provoke you into hitting her, so she'd have a reason to fall," Isabella said, glancing at Lila on the ground with a light smile.
Lila looked up, glaring at Isabella. "I know you and Amelia are close, but you shouldn't believe everything she says. It's not what you think."
"Well, if we want to know what really happened, we can just ask some of the tourists around here. With so many people at this ski resort, someone must've heard your conversation with Amelia," Michael said casually, wrapping an arm around Isabella.
Lila's eyes darted nervously. She wasn't sure if anyone had overheard her argument with Amelia.
"You're all Amelia's friends, ganging up on me. Benjamin, take me to the medical station. I need to calm down," Lila pleaded.
"I still want to ski. I don't have time to take you," Benjamin replied, standing up.
Lila was stunned by Benjamin's response.
Amelia also looked at Benjamin in surprise.
Benjamin waved to a nearby staff member, and soon they arrived with a stretcher.
"She's got a sprained foot. Take her to the hospital; she can pay," Benjamin said calmly.
The staff nodded and lifted Lila onto the stretcher. At that moment, Lila finally realized what was happening.
As the staff prepared to leave with the stretcher, Lila suddenly grabbed Benjamin's sleeve.
"Benjamin, aren't you coming with me? I got injured because of your girlfriend!" Lila exclaimed.
"How did you get injured? Don't you know? Or do you think your little tricks can fool a surgeon like me? Lila, don't take me for a fool," Benjamin's face turned cold, losing its usual gentleness.
Benjamin shook off Lila's hand, looking at her calmly. "I don't have feelings for you anymore. We were done when you betrayed me. I just held onto past sentiments and didn't want to scold you. If you dare to ruin my relationship again, don't blame me for being rude."
Benjamin's icy gaze made Lila feel a hint of fear; his demeanor was surprisingly similar to Michael's.
Benjamin waved his hand, and the two staff members carried Lila away from the ski resort.
After Lila left, Benjamin approached Amelia, took her hand, and smiled, "Darling, I never doubted you."
Amelia was very satisfied with Benjamin's response and lowered her head, a hint of shyness on her face.
By this time, Isabella and Michael had walked to the other side. They headed towards the intermediate ski slope.
"Looks like I lost. I'll give you $100 after we change clothes," Michael said with a smile.
"Don't forget to remind Benjamin about my jewelry," Isabella reminded with a grin.
As they reached the intermediate ski slope, Michael suddenly asked, "How do you understand what Lila is thinking?"
Isabella shook her head. "I don't understand what Lila is thinking, but I guess bitches think alike. Back when Bianca tried to frame me in front of John, she used the same tricks. So I understand their tactics. But John, that idiot, is not like Benjamin. Forget about him, a fool and a bitch, let them live together forever and not harm others."
***Valentine's Day Special***
"What do you want to show me? Why all the secrecy?" Isabella asked, her curiosity piqued as she held Michael's hand, following his lead. She knew whatever it was, it would be a delightful surprise because Michael never let her down.
"We're here! Happy Valentine's Day!" Michael said, removing her blindfold.
As the darkness lifted, Isabella gasped, covering her mouth in astonishment at the sight before her.
The sky danced with deep blue ripples, like a flowing river of light suspended in the heavens. It was as if the Northern Lights were weaving a tapestry of color, painting the night with ethereal brushstrokes, while the stars twinkled like diamonds, adding their own brilliance to the cosmic canvas.
"This is like a fairy tale," Isabella exclaimed in delight.
Michael held Isabella's hand as they walked through the snow, their feet crunching on the thick blanket beneath them. The cold night couldn't extinguish the warmth in their hearts. Isabella reached up toward the sky, as if the auroras were flickering in her palms. She watched the beams of light dance above, her eyes sparkling with their brilliance.
Seeing Isabella so happy, Michael knew his gift was perfect. Fancy jewelry never caught her interest, but this fairy-tale innocence suited her perfectly.
"Sweetheart, this is just so beautiful! Thank you! How did you know there would be auroras tonight?" Isabella said, her voice trembling with emotion, almost on the verge of tears.
"I did a lot of research to find this spot. It seems even the heavens are celebrating our love," Michael replied with a smile, wrapping his arms around Isabella from behind. Together, they stood in awe of the enchanting scene before them.
"How can I ever repay you for such a wonderful gift?" Isabella wondered, feeling a bit overwhelmed.
"Darling, you don't need to worry about that. When I'm holding you, I already have the whole world," Michael's gentle voice whispered in Isabella's ear.
"Sweetheart, you're my world too," Isabella replied, turning to wrap her arms around Michael's neck, pulling him in for a deep, heartfelt kiss.
The auroras in the sky became more vibrant, casting a magical glow that wrapped around them, adding an extra touch of romance to the moment.
