Chapter 455

Michael had a hard time explaining everything over the phone, guessing Mason was probably right next to Isabella.

Mason, of course, heard the voice on the phone and was puzzled because it didn't sound like Michael.

But after hearing Michael's explanation, a cold smile crept onto Mason's lips.

"Well, dear, take care. Since I don't need to worry about you anymore, I should head back to the office to handle some things." Isabella sighed softly and hung up.

"Sorry, Mason, I can't let you see my husband." Isabella shrugged, looking at Mason with a hint of guilt.

Mason smiled at her and said, "It's okay, it seems like your husband doesn't really want to see me either."

Isabella smiled awkwardly. She wasn't a fool and could figure it out. Michael seemed to be consciously avoiding Mason.

She thought Michael didn't want to show up because he was worried Mason would investigate his identity and cause trouble.

Mason wasn't ready to give up. Suddenly, he thought of something and said to Isabella with a smile, "I heard you and your husband took wedding photos abroad? I've always wanted to see what you looked like on your wedding day, but you haven't had the wedding yet. Can you show me the photos?"

Isabella shook her head, feeling embarrassed. "Sorry, Mason, I lost my phone when I was being chased. This phone is new and doesn't have the photos. But I have a backup on my computer, I'll send them when I get home."

A hint of disappointment flashed in Mason's eyes.

"Well, in that case, I'll leave for now. If you need help with the Brown Family's affairs, just let me know. Speak up while I'm still alive." Mason gently stroked Isabella's hair, his eyes full of affectionate kindness.

Isabella nodded, moved. "Don't worry, Mason. If I need your help, I won't hesitate to ask."

Satisfied, Mason left the hospital room.

Just as Mason was about to leave the hospital, he suddenly remembered something. He stopped, turned to look at Isabella, and asked with a smile, "By the way, what's your husband's name? I'm curious."

Isabella hesitated for a moment and nodded. "His name is Michael."

Isabella didn't lie, nor was she worried about Mason investigating. There were many people named Michael.

Isabella didn't notice Mason's eyes narrow slightly. He smiled at her, then turned and got into his car.

Isabella watched Mason leave. After he was gone, she completed Michael's discharge procedures and then went to the company.

Not long after Mason got into the car, he received a call from his bodyguards. They reported two people had left the hospital: a doctor in protective clothing and a body with a contagious disease.

A cold smile appeared on Mason's lips. "To avoid me, they even pretended to be a corpse with a contagious disease? Such disgusting tactics."

Mason pulled out his phone and called Michael directly. The phone rang twice before Michael's calm voice came through.

"What's up, Mason? Need something?" Michael asked, sounding puzzled.

With a smile, Mason said, "I need to discuss something with you. It's not something I can talk about over the phone. Come to the Williams Villa."

Before Michael could refuse, Mason hung up.

By now, Michael had changed his clothes, but his brows were furrowed tightly.

"Mason must have noticed something. He's testing me. What should I do?" Michael said, looking at Benjamin.

Benjamin hesitated for a moment and said, "If you're worried about your wound being exposed, I have a solution, but I don't recommend it."

Michael raised an eyebrow, listening quietly to Benjamin's suggestion.

An hour later, Michael, dressed in a sharp suit, arrived at the Williams Villa. Mason was already waiting for him.

Upon seeing Mason, Michael sat down on the sofa opposite him with a smile.

"What's up? Why did you call me here urgently? I have a lot of things to handle at my company," Michael said.

With a slight smile, Mason looked at Michael and asked, "I heard your wife was attacked by the Brown Family and her mental state is very unstable. Why aren't you spending more time with her?"

Michael looked at Mason with surprise, thinking Mason was testing him. Then he realized Mason was referring to Estella, not Isabella.

"Estella is not as fragile as you think. She just doesn't want to deal with the boring questions from the police. We already told her about the troubles she might encounter when we got married, and she accepted it all. So you don't need to worry about her," Michael said calmly.

A cold smile appeared on Mason's lips. "Among the troubles she might encounter, does that include the possibility of her being killed while acting as bait by pretending to be your wife?"

Michael's brows furrowed. "Mason, I don't understand what you mean."

Mason sneered, "How long are you going to hide from me? I already know. Isabella's mysterious husband is actually you! Estella is just a decoy you used to conceal Isabella's identity."

Michael's tone turned displeased. He looked at Mason and said, "Mason, I don't know where you got this idea from, but I hope you're smarter than to be deceived by others."

Angry, Mason slapped his thigh and stared at Michael coldly, saying, "Yesterday, you disguised yourself as a corpse with a contagious disease and escaped from the hospital. I specifically asked the hospital director, and he clearly told me that their hospital would never have such a terrible contagious disease, so it's all fake."

Michael remained calm. "I don't know what happened at the hospital that day to make you misunderstand, but do you have any evidence?"

Mason squinted and said, "Isabella told me her husband's name is Michael!"

Michael's fist clenched instantly.
