Chapter 249
The driver, playing a game in his car, was in a foul mood because he had just lost the game.
He rolled down the window and yelled at the bellhop outside, "Hey, you idiot! Smoking on the job? I don't have a lighter, and I don't smoke. Get lost, you filthy lowlife!"
The bellhop was stunned at first, but then his anger started to boil over.
"What did you just say, you jerk? Say it again! I just asked to borrow a lighter, and you curse at me? Who do you think you are? Look at your ugly face, all gross, and you have the nerve to curse at me with your dirty mouth." The bellhop pointed at the driver's nose, fuming.
The driver's temper exploded like a firecracker. He jumped out of the car and stormed towards the bellhop.
"I'll show you who's tough. I'll break every bone in your body and make you cry for mercy!" The driver sneered, cracking his knuckles. But the bellhop didn't look scared at all. Instead, he turned around and mockingly patted his own butt.
"You look like a big, dumb oaf. If you have the guts, come and hit me, idiot." The bellhop taunted, then quickly ran off.
The driver, now completely enraged, chased after the bellhop, shouting that he was going to kill him or something like that.
While the driver was distracted, a figure dressed in black with a bag approached John's car. The figure quickly installed explosives under the car and then disappeared.
The driver chased the bellhop until the bellhop ducked into a hotel. Realizing he couldn't follow him inside without risking his job, the driver stopped.
He glared at the hotel's entrance, then turned and headed back to the parking lot.
Meanwhile, Isabella, arm-in-arm with Joseph, entered the grand banquet hall.
The hall was packed with young heirs from the four major families and some top executives from other companies.
Joseph introduced Isabella to his friends and business partners, and she quickly charmed them with her elegance and humor.
"Excuse me, I need to use the restroom," Isabella said, excusing herself from the group.
After using the restroom, Isabella was washing her hands when she saw a familiar face in the mirror.
"Bianca, what are you doing here?" Isabella's voice dripped with disdain.
Bianca was just as surprised to see Isabella. After a moment, she sneered and said, "If you can be here, why can't I?"
Isabella gave Bianca a cold look as she finished washing her hands. "John called me earlier, accusing me of sending someone to kill you. What a joke. If I wanted you dead, I wouldn't have waited until yesterday."
Bianca's face twisted with anger. Yesterday's drama had her all shaken up, and being stripped of her pants was a huge humiliation.
"How do we know it wasn't you?" Bianca shot back, trying to pin the blame on Isabella.
Isabella's eyes narrowed. "Do you really think I'm as ruthless as you?"
"No matter how ruthless I am, I wouldn't send my own parents to prison," Bianca sneered.
"Why would I send them to prison? You know the reason. If they weren't dumb enough to believe you, they wouldn't be there," Isabella retorted coldly.
Bianca's eyes gleamed with malice. "I heard you've been looking for Jasper, hoping he'll give you shares of the company. Funny thing is, I want those shares too."
"Dream on! I'm the legal heir, while your father doesn't even qualify to compete with me," Isabella sneered, turning to leave the restroom.
Bianca's face twisted in rage. She grabbed Isabella's arm and spat, "That old fool was blind, giving the company to your useless father. If he'd given it to my dad, our family wouldn't be in such a mess!"
Bianca harbored deep resentment towards their grandfather. Both she and Isabella were granddaughters, but their grandfather clearly favored Isabella more.
In a sudden, heated motion, Isabella turned and slapped Bianca hard across the face. She wouldn't tolerate any disrespect towards her grandfather.
"Consider this a wake-up call. Learn to respect your elders." Isabella yanked her arm free from Bianca's grip and walked out of the restroom.
Behind her, Bianca screamed, "Isabella, you bitch! How dare you hit me!"
Isabella ignored her and walked out, only to run into John.
John was startled to see Isabella, but when he noticed the handprint on Bianca's face, his expression turned icy.
"Did you hit Bianca?" he demanded coldly.
"I did. So what? Do you want to be next, you jerk?" Isabella shot back, her eyes cold.
They were already at odds over Jasper and the company's shares. There was no need to be polite, even if John was Mason's grandson.
"What's gotten into you? You into violence now? Apologize to Bianca right now," John growled.
"Why don't you ask why I hit her?" Isabella glared at him.
"I don't need to know why. I saw you hit her!" John retorted arrogantly, raising his chin.
In response, Isabella slapped John across the face.
The loud slap drew the attention of nearby guests, who looked over in surprise.
John was stunned that Isabella dared to hit him.
After a moment of shock, his anger flared.
"How dare you hit me! Who gave you the courage?" John raised his hand to slap Isabella back.
But before he could, a firm hand grabbed his wrist.
