Chapter 400
Isabella's husband has always been a mystery to the four major families. Despite all their efforts, they couldn't dig up any info. So, how on earth did Joseph manage to find out?
Joseph waved off his subordinates, signaling them to leave.
Not long after they left, the sound of high heels clicking echoed down the hospital corridor.
Joseph raised an eyebrow. He knew that sound-it was his sister, Avery.
"Joseph, are you okay?" Avery rushed over when she saw him sitting there, looking all anxious.
"Are you seriously hurt?" Avery asked, checking him over with a worried look.
"I'm fine, Avery, just a few scratches. Don't worry," Joseph reassured her.
Seeing that Joseph wasn't seriously hurt, Avery let out a sigh of relief. But then she got mad. "I heard you got drunk and crashed your car. How stupid can you be? Ever heard of a designated driver?"
Avery glared at him. If he didn't look so pitiful with those bandages, she might've smacked him.
Joseph gave her a bitter smile and shook his head. "Stop yelling at me, Avery. These injuries aren't from a car accident. I got beat up."
Avery's eyes went wide. "Beat up? Who did this? Did you piss someone off?"
Joseph looked at her, feeling a bit helpless. Did she think he was always causing trouble?
"My dear sister, don't always assume it's my fault. Yeah, I was drinking, but I wasn't driving like a maniac. Check the intersection cameras if you don't believe me! I was deliberately hit!" Joseph explained, rolling his eyes.
"Who hit you? Who's got the guts to mess with our family? Tell me, I'll make them pay," Avery fumed. Someone had clearly targeted Joseph.
Joseph hesitated for a moment before saying, "It seems to be Isabella's husband."
Avery's face went stiff. "Are you sure?" she asked slowly.
Joseph nodded. "Yeah, it was him."
"I don't believe Isabella would have him do this. She wouldn't," Avery said, reaching for her phone to call Isabella.
"Enough, Avery. I don't think Isabella planned this. It was probably her husband's idea after seeing the news," Joseph sighed.
Avery, still angry, asked, "So we're just gonna let this slide? You messed up, but they almost killed you. That's insane!"
Joseph shook his head. "Enough, Avery. Ever since that video came out, we've all been targets. That guy's probably waiting for us to turn on each other. I need to help clear Isabella's name."
Avery looked at Joseph, realizing he had grown up a bit.
"Are you sure? You might end up being the laughingstock of the whole city," Avery said, looking him in the eyes.
Joseph nodded. "I've thought it through. My recklessness caused a lot of trouble for Isabella. That endorsement deal is crucial for her; she can't lose it."
He pulled out his phone, ready to post a message on social media. But his face went stiff as he opened it.
"What's wrong? Weren't you going to post something? Why'd you stop?" Avery asked, confused.
Joseph put down his phone and gave a bitter smile. "I don't need to make a statement. Isabella's already found evidence."
Avery was surprised. She took out her phone to check and found a new video trending.
The video seemed to have been filmed from the moment Avery, Joseph, and Isabella met up.
From the angle, it looked like it was shot with a hidden camera.
After a bit, the video switched to a man's face, presumably the one filming.
"Hey guys, look who I found! It's our hottest endorsement goddess, here with friends for coffee. Should I ask her for an autograph?" the filmer said excitedly.
Just as the filmer was about to approach Isabella, Avery left her seat, leaving the spot for Isabella and Joseph.
"Wait a minute, guys. The vibe here seems a bit off. I see a familiar look in this guy's eyes. It looks like love," the filmer whispered in surprise, then continued to film sneakily.
The video clearly showed Joseph's confession, pursuit, and struggle with Isabella.
But Isabella stayed calm and clearly rejected Joseph's confession.
The video ended with a freeze-frame of Joseph's sad expression.
"Guys, I never expected to capture this. I get the guy's feelings; I've been rejected before, and it sucks," the filmer sighed emotionally to the screen.
The filming ended there, as Joseph and Avery had already left the café.
The internet buzzed with this video.
Those who had insulted Isabella for an alleged affair came out to apologize. The more rational netizens knew how to admit their mistakes.
Some netizens, even knowing they were wrong, chose not to apologize but pretended not to see it.
Isabella's supporters celebrated like they had won a battle.
"Isabella is loyal to love; she has never betrayed it. Listen to how she rejected that guy! 'The love in my husband's eyes is even more intense than yours!' Oh my, it's so touching!"
"The love in my husband's eyes is even more intense than yours." This phrase quickly became a trending topic.
But soon, someone noticed something strange in the filmer's video.
Someone enlarged the video and saw a familiar figure reflected on the glass of the opposite mall.
They enhanced the figure and revealed it was Bianca, holding a phone and filming.
