Chapter 120

Isabella greeted Juliet, starting their working relationship. Then Dwayne took Isabella around to meet the rest of the team.

Isabella's department had about 30 people, all of whom she'd be leading from now on.

She started off all enthusiastic and friendly, but she couldn't help but notice that after she introduced herself, a lot of folks were sneaking glances at one particular woman.

From Dwayne's earlier intro, Isabella knew this woman was Madeline Eve. Isabella was the new head of the design department, while Madeline was the deputy head.

Dwayne had quietly mentioned to Isabella that if she hadn't shown up, Madeline would have been the one in charge.

"Why's everyone looking at me? Isabella's our new director, let's give her a warm welcome," Madeline said with a smile. Only after she clapped did the others join in.

Isabella could tell Madeline wasn't thrilled about her. With a bunch of employees on Madeline's side, Isabella knew she had to play it smart in this power showdown.

Isabella walked up to Madeline and extended her hand. "I've heard a lot about you from Dwayne. He says you're talented and beautiful. I hope we can learn from each other and make a bigger contribution to the company."

"I don't think we'll learn much from each other. Unlike you, I don't have a powerful family backing me," Madeline said with a smile, but her words were sharp.

Isabella's smile faded a bit. She knew Madeline was hinting that she only got the job because of her connections with the Williams Family.

With a calm smile, Isabella pulled back her hand and said, "I've gotten here through my own hard work. Whether you believe it or not is up to you. The fact that my designs won first and second place in the selection speaks for itself."

Madeline's face soured. Isabella was clearly mocking her for not even making the cut.

Madeline was about to snap back when Dwayne stepped in between them, smiling and separating them.

"Alright, let's wrap up the intros for today. Isabella, you should head back to your office and get familiar with your tasks. The company is newly established, so there's a lot to do. We'll officially start work tomorrow," Dwayne said.

Isabella liked Dwayne and didn't want to make things awkward for him, so she nodded and went back to her office.

Once Isabella was gone, Dwayne turned to Madeline and said, "I know you don't like Isabella, but she's been directly appointed by the top management. We're here to work and make money, so let's try to keep things harmonious and avoid office gossip."

Madeline rolled her eyes. She was a proud woman who believed in her exceptional abilities. She didn't even think much of Dwayne.

Dwayne shrugged off Madeline's attitude, told everyone to get back to work, and headed back to his office.

In her office, Isabella asked Juliet about the work and how things were going.

Just then, Isabella got a call about a delivery.

"Ms. Taylor, I'll get it for you. It's part of my job," Juliet offered, eager to help out.

Isabella had a soft spot for Juliet, the enthusiastic girl. She smiled, "It should be the gifts I got for you guys. Could you help me bring them up? I'll give you a new phone as a thank-you."

Juliet's eyes lit up with excitement. "Ms. Taylor, are you really giving us such expensive gifts on your first day?"

Isabella waved her hand casually. "I won them in a raffle. I can't use them all, so I thought I'd share."

"Thank you, Ms. Taylor!" Juliet exclaimed, practically bouncing with joy before dashing downstairs.

After a while, Juliet came back, pushing a cart loaded with roses.

"Ms. Taylor, it's not the gifts you prepared. It's flowers from Mr. John Williams," Juliet said, pointing to the roses.

Isabella frowned when she heard the flowers were from John. She even saw a card and a jewelry necklace among the roses.

She quickly unblocked John's number and called him.

John answered, thinking Isabella was calling to thank him, but instead, he got an earful.

"John, are you trying to disgust me? Don't you know I'm married? Sending so many roses to a married woman-what are you trying to do? Ruin my marriage? How can you be so malicious? If you send flowers again, I'll complain to Mason!" Isabella yelled and then hung up.

John was stunned for a few seconds and then felt a surge of anger. He couldn't understand why sending flowers to Isabella had caused such a furious response. Just as he tried to call Isabella back, he found his number had been blocked again.

"Isabella is out of her mind! No one has ever rejected me!" Furious, John decided to go to Isabella's company to confront her.

Juliet looked at the furious Isabella, too scared to speak. It wasn't until Isabella turned to her that she asked softly, "Ms. Taylor, what should we do with these flowers?"

Isabella glanced at the massive pile of roses, feeling a headache coming on. The card clearly stated there were 9,999 roses. She wondered where John had even managed to get them.

She waved her hand and told Juliet, "Contact some wedding planners and boutique hotels to see if they need these roses. Sell them at 30% of the market price. Use the money to buy coffee for the department."

Juliet opened her mouth but decided not to argue. She quickly went out to make the calls.

While Juliet was on the phone, Isabella's delivery finally arrived. Since Juliet was not there, Isabella went to get the 30 phones herself. Bad luck-she ran into John on her way downstairs.
