Chapter 375
Joseph was having the worst luck ever.
He flew to another country, all excited to chase after his love, only to find out Isabella had already gone back home.
Feeling bummed out, Joseph checked into a hotel, hoping to chill and get over his disappointment.
Out of nowhere, he decided to call Avery. She was already at Isabella's office when she got his call, a smirk on her face.
"Hey, Joseph! Weren't you off chasing your dream girl? Why the sudden call?" Avery teased.
Joseph took a deep breath and asked, "Avery, did you know Isabella had already gone home?"
His voice was dripping with bitterness. Avery's earlier question had already given him the answer.
Avery didn't hold back, "Yeah, I knew before you ditched me in the living room and took off. I wanted to call you back, but what could I do? All I could do was wish you luck and hope your planes crossed paths in the sky."
She burst out laughing, probably picturing the whole thing.
Two planes meeting in the sky, with Joseph spotting Isabella through the window of the other plane.
If this were a cheesy romance drama, they'd meet across a bus, and the guy would yell for the driver to stop so he could get off.
But on a plane? Joseph would just end up yelling at the flight attendant to stop the plane so he could get off and find someone. Next thing you know, he'd be mistaken for a nutcase and strapped to his seat!
"Ha! Captain, land the plane on that cloud ahead, I need to get off!" Avery joked, laughing into the phone.
On the other end, Joseph's face was dark with anger.
"Is this funny to you? Do I look like a fool?" Joseph snapped.
Avery took a few deep breaths to calm her laughter. She said, "You chose to go, I didn't force you. I told you not to hold onto such fantasies. You didn't listen. Can you really blame me?"
Avery snorted, then noticed Isabella outside the elevator.
She waved at Isabella and said into the phone, "Alright, I'm done chatting. I'm going to buy a car with Isabella. Enjoy your time there, and maybe blow off some steam. I heard the adult entertainment scene is pretty wild. Have fun, but don't bring any diseases back, got it?"
Avery hung up.
Joseph was so mad he almost threw his phone. Avery always knew how to push his buttons.
But after cooling down, Joseph started to think things over.
"Whatever, my earlier thoughts were pretty ridiculous. I'll just hang out here for a few days and see what happens." Joseph sighed and left the room, ready to explore the fun and food this country had to offer.
Isabella came downstairs and quickly spotted Avery waving.
Isabella's connection with Avery was also tied to Joseph. Back when Isabella was part of one of the four major families, she often attended various banquets and met Avery at one of them.
The two women had similar personalities and interests, but Avery had always disliked John more.
Later, when Isabella's family fell on hard times, she still loved John deeply. However, John didn't feel the same and refused to take her to gatherings, so Avery always accompanied her. Their bond grew stronger over time.
"Long time no see, Isabella. Have you put on some weight?" Avery teased, her eyes on Isabella's chest.
Isabella rolled her eyes, "I'm not fat, I'm just curvy, thanks to love! You'll get it when you get married."
Hearing Isabella's words, Avery's already low opinion of Joseph dropped even further. The affection between Isabella and John was strong, and Joseph didn't stand a chance.
"I don't want to get married. Being single is the best! No man can conquer me," Avery said proudly.
Isabella chuckled and shook her head. Avery loved making such jokes. When John used to give her trouble, Avery never hesitated to put him in his place.
"Alright, aren't we here to buy a car? Let's go. What kind of car are you thinking about?" Isabella asked as they got into the car.
Avery tilted her head, thinking. "I was thinking about getting an SUV for daily use, but maybe a rugged off-road vehicle would suit my style better. What do you think?"
Isabella thought for a moment. "Let's go for the off-road vehicle! I heard camping in the wilderness is popular lately. You can use it for camping trips. Maybe we can go camping together sometime."
"That sounds like a great idea. Let's get the off-road vehicle then. Actually, let's get two cars. I'll drive whichever one I feel like. I can afford it," Avery shrugged, feeling her dilemma was unnecessary.
Isabella nodded in agreement. They quickly arrived at the car dealership Avery had in mind. Isabella saw the sign and remembered it was one of John's businesses.
In the past, Isabella had learned a lot to please John, including the famous stores and industries under his name. This car dealership was opened by John five years ago and had been doing well. Many wealthy people bought their cars here.
Isabella and Avery walked in, and Avery immediately pulled Isabella to the car she liked.
"This is the one I like. What do you think?" Avery asked proudly.
Isabella nodded, agreeing that the car looked great.
But just then, an annoying voice cut in. "I'll take this off-road vehicle. Just swipe the card, I'm buying it."
