Chapter 160
On the other end, Isabella hung up the phone with a smirk. "My dad is such an arrogant, conceited fool."
She saved the recording of their chat, grinning.
Michael turned to her, smiling. "Looks like you're pretty confident in your plan."
Isabella nodded. "I know my dad too well; he's a control freak. He never trusted me, his own daughter, so there's no way he'd trust Bianca. Just a little nudge from me, and they'll definitely have a falling out. The only way they'll keep working together is with a contract. Remember those hidden cameras?"
She looked at Michael.
Michael nodded. Of course, he remembered. Isabella had set up a hidden camera in her room to avoid getting framed. Those cameras had stopped Scarlett's attempt to set her up.
"Are you thinking about putting hidden cameras in your parents' villa?" Michael asked with a grin.
Isabella nodded. "Yeah, but we need someone to sneak in. Any ideas?"
"I'll take care of it. I know plenty of people for this kind of job." Michael said confidently.
Isabella trusted his connections, so she agreed.
Once they got back to the villa, Michael immediately called Jerry.
"Find me a private investigator, someone who can act and preferably has experience as a thief. I want Jasper's villa filled with cameras!" Michael ordered coldly, his anger towards Jasper and Mia clear.
Jerry nodded. They knew plenty of skilled people abroad and could definitely find the right person.
The next day, Jasper and Mia got a call. A guy claiming to be a journalist named Steve Carter from a newspaper wanted to interview them.
Jasper, eager to teach Isabella a lesson, agreed to the interview.
That afternoon, Steve showed up at Jasper's villa. He was a middle-aged guy in a vest, with a work badge around his neck, looking every bit the dedicated journalist. He had a cameraman with him.
"You must be Ms. Taylor's father! We've heard about the news and are outraged. We can't believe Isabella would do such things! Don't worry, our newspaper has a big audience. The public will make sure Isabella gets what she deserves!" Steve said, even showing the name of his newspaper and its website.
Jasper and Mia were stoked when they saw the website and heard what Steve had to say.
"No, no, I don't want anyone to hurt my daughter. I just hope she realizes her mistakes and comes back to us," Jasper kept up his image as a loving father.
"You are truly a kind father. I'm sure your daughter will appreciate everything you do someday," Steve said, looking impressed.
Steve then started interviewing Jasper and Mia, asking about the struggles they faced raising Isabella and the good times they had together. This was perfect material to create a dramatic contrast for the audience, making Isabella's betrayal seem even worse.
"Alright, would it be possible for us to film some footage inside your villa? We'd like to include Isabella's room as well," Steve asked.
Jasper and Mia didn't hesitate. They'd been interviewed by several journalists recently, all with similar requests.
Steve and the cameraman filmed extensively inside and outside the villa. During this, Steve noted the best spots to place hidden cameras.
"Thanks so much, Mr. and Mrs. Taylor, for letting me interview you. We will report the truth faithfully!" Steve said, looking every bit the champion of justice.
Jasper shook Steve's hand, asking him to use the newspaper's influence to make Isabella realize her mistakes.
Steve agreed to everything. Before leaving, he handed Jasper a business card. "Mr. Taylor, in my years as a journalist, I've seen many dark sides of human nature. We've met parents let down by their own kids. This group is for good-hearted parents like you. Lots of families here have been through what you're going through. Maybe talking to them can help you heal from the hurt."
"Thank you, Mr. Carter," Jasper said gratefully, waving goodbye to Steve as he left.
Mia looked at the business card in Jasper's hand, which had an address, a phone number, and a contact person's name.
"Are you really going to this?" Mia asked.
"Why not?" Jasper smiled slyly.
"I've been clueless on what lies to spin lately. We can attend this support group, pick up some stories, and tweak them to fit our tale. Steve has done us a great favor," Jasper said, feeling very pleased with himself as he dialed the number on the card.
Meanwhile, Steve got into a car after leaving the Taylor Villa. Jerry was waiting in the passenger seat.
"How did it go?" Jerry asked.
Steve smiled confidently. "Don't worry, they've taken the bait. As soon as they leave for that support group, I can install the hidden cameras in no time!"
Jerry nodded, curious. "Does that support group really exist?"
Steve shrugged. "Eight billion people on the planet. Statistically, there should be a group like that, right? But I've never seen one."
He paused, "Don't worry, those actors I hired are professional. During the chat, they'll exchange small gifts. Trust me, the cameras in those gifts won't fall out like in the movies!"
Jerry looked at the confident Steve, a playful smile on his face, and felt a bit of sympathy for Jasper.
'Poor guy, it looks like every day for them is going to be a live broadcast!' Jerry thought.
